14th October 2017. The National Coastwatch station at Lee-on-Solent has thanked local shoppers for the success of a recent collection in a local supermarket
Members of the Lee-on-the-Solent station of the National Coastwatch Institution raised £298.97 from a collection at the ASDA store in Newgate Lane, Fareham. Mike Bowers from the NCI branch said: ‘The money will be used to help meet our running expenses and support NCI nationally in widening its activities. We would like to thank the staff of ASDA in Newgate Lane and their generous shoppers for their support.’
The Lee-on-the-Solent National Coastwatch station is manned by 70 volunteers who ensure that a watch is kept every day of the year from their lookout on the Beach Road car park.
