During 2020 all NCI stations closed for two months at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. On re-opening most stations were single-crewed for the rest of the year.


Please note: NCI Canvey Island was previously know as NCI Holehaven and moved location on Monday 18 October 2021. All NCI Canvey Island Incident Summaries before that date will be in respect of NCI Holehaven at its previous location.

Harbour authority spoke to those involved, seven more were seen having a picnic on the pier, authority informed. , CG updated, authority attended pier, and persons left the pier. NCI No Yes
58397 19/08/2026 NCI Folkestone NCI observed a MOP who appeared drunk and clutching a wine bottle emerge from the water and join 4 others. HMCG informed. one appeared injured, and entered a compound and tampered with safety , equipment to access a first aid kit. CRT tasked, all men left the area. NFA NCI No Yes
58404 19/08/2026 NCI Portland Bill A yacht issued a Pan Pan, not making headway in the Portland race. HMCG tasked AWLB. LB towed casualty to harbour. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
58374 18/08/2026 NCI Folkestone NCI observed 2 teenagers tombstoning from pier. Harbour authorities informed, HMCG also informed but not concerned. Security staff dealt with tombstoners. NCI No Yes
58379 18/08/2026 NCI Swanage HMCG called NCI, asking to check a moored yacht, following reported concern from MOP. No-one had been seen aboard for 2 days. NCI confirmed visual, but no-one seen, CG updated. ILB was tasked , to do a welfare check. NCI monitored vessel until lookout closed. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
58380 18/08/2026 NCI Shoreham MOP alerted NCI to a possible problem on the beach. W/K investigated, 4 persons in the water, 2 more on the beach. Police attended, ~AWLB tasked by HMCG. NCI W/Ks assisted SAR teams at scene. , CRT also tasked, LB recovered 4 casualties from the water, and transferred them to the care of the medical services. Assets stood down. NCI Yes Yes
58386 18/08/2026 NCI Torbay MOP observed a person self harming, NCI called police and ambulance. Police arrived and secured area. HMCG informed purely for information purposes. casualty was taken to hospital by police. NCI No Yes
58387 18/08/2026 NCI Porthcawl HMCG called NCI re. report from MOP of 3 surf skiers in difficulty. NCI had been monitoring, CG requested this continued. All three safely returned to shore, NCI monitored until safe. CG updated. MCA/HMCG No Yes
58375 17/08/2026 NCI Canvey Island Off duty W/K reported to HMCG a possible person struggling in the water - waving arms. CRT tasked, station closed but an extensive search afterwards by police, HELO and hovercraft revealed nothing. MCA/HMCG No Yes
58360 17/08/2026 NCI St Ives NCI observed a yacht steering erratically and heading for a reef. HMCG informed, and they contacted vessel, which changed course and carried on its voyage. NFA. NCI No Yes
58361 17/08/2026 NCI Skegness NCI observed an unidentified object in the water. HMCG informed, CRT tasked, who also observed object. ILB was tasked to investigate but found nothing, NFA. NCI Yes Yes
58338 16/08/2026 NCI Porthcawl NCI were notified that a swimmer was setting off to swim across the bays, by LGs. NCI agreed to monitor. NCI were updated that swim was going well. HMCG then contacted NCI re. report of an object , in the water, from a MOP. Description given matched that of swimmer, so FAGWI. MCA/HMCG No Yes
58337 16/08/2026 NCI Gosport Vessel advised NCI and HMCG of engine failure, 2 POB with lifejackets, drifting in main channel. NCI confirmed visual, and a second vessel was alongside. Pan Pan issued. Police launch also went to , assist. Police launch towed casualty to marina, all safe. NCI No Yes
58339 16/08/2026 NCI Minehead MOP informed NCI an injured surfer was being carried toward station, ambulance had been called. Casualty arrived at station, and was treated by a trauma nurse who was helping. Ambulance arrived, and serious wound on leg was treated, and casualty was transferred to hospital. CG updated. 58340 16/08/2026 NCI Porthcawl NCI observed 2 MOP on a ledge above sea caves, monitoring started. LGs and HMCG informed. CRT tasked to attend and conned to location by NCI. CRT established they were well equipped climbers, and not in difficulty. NCI No Yes
58341 16/08/2026 NCI Hengistbury Head HMCG called NCI re. a missing swimmer, visual requested. NCI saw several swimmers but nothing specific. CRT team were on scene, and no further assistance was required from NCI. Outcome unknown. MCA/HMCG No Yes
58342 16/08/2026 NCI Calshot Tower NCI observed a wind surfer in difficulty against a falling tide and being swept out. A RIB rescued wind surfer and board, and took them ashore. CG updated. NCI No Yes
58355 16/08/2026 NCI Nells Point NCI observed a paddle board and an inflatable struggling to get back to shore. HMCG informed. LGs tasked, NCI monitored comms between LGs and CG. LGs were conned to casualties by NCI, , and established they were close to shore and okay. NFA. NCI No Yes
58357 16/08/2026 NCI Prawle Point HMCG called NCI asking for visual on a motor cruiser with engine failure . Nothing identified by NCI, assumed out of visual range. MCA/HMCG No Yes
58324 15/08/2026 NCI Portscatho NCI were monitoring an adult and 2 children on rocks, in danger of being cut off by tide. HMCG informed, no immediate concern, and continued monitoring requested. casualties did reach safety, NFA NCI No Yes
58372 15/08/2026 NCI Hornsea A distressed MOP arrived at the station, feeling suicidal and had self harmed. He had rung 111, and the police, who rang the ambulance service. casualty stayed at the station until paramedics arrived., Casualty was taken into the care of paramedics, as this had happened before. NCI No Yes
58334 15/08/2026 NCI Lyme Bay HMCG called NCI asking for visual on a vessel - negative so monitoring requested. All vessels asked to look out for vessel. ILB tasked, second vessel then reported seeing the casualty vessel, out of , control and circling. AWLB and HELO tasked, NCI monitored. ILB reported casualty found, deceased, face down in water. 58335 15/08/2026 NCI Porthcawl HMCG tasked ILB and CRT to a swimmer in difficulty, NCI commenced scan with CCTV and bins. Day boat responded to Mat Day, NCI had visual on boat. ILB reported casualty had self rescued and , was with CRT. NCI updated CG. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
58336 15/08/2026 NCI Lyme Bay NCI became aware of radio traffic re. 2 persons from a dinghy in the water. NCI established visual on dinghy, HMCG informed. AWLB and ILB had been tasked. NCI asked to con LBs to vessel, but had , lost sight by then. CG then reported that both casualties were ashore, assets stood down. Not sure whether casualties were recovered or self rescued. 58391 15/08/2026 NCI Bass Point NCI observed an inflatable dinghy, 1 POB, rowing past lookout, no lifejacket, but no apparent distress. HMCG informed, as NCI considered it an unsuitable vessel for the conditions, with an offshore , wind. vessel lost to visual, CG took control, and planned enquiries. Outcome unknown. NCI No Yes
58353 15/08/2026 NCI Padstow HMCG called NCI re. report from MOP of 2 wind surfers in difficulty, one ashore, one in the water. NCI carried out a search and could not identify anyone in difficulty. CG updated. CG closed incident. MCA/HMCG No Yes
58319 15/08/2026 NCI St Donat's Bay NI identified an object, possible ordnance, on CCTV camera. HMCG advised, email of photo sent. CRT tasked to investigate. Object found to be 2 rocks. NFA. NCI No Yes
58322 15/08/2026 NCI Worms Head HMCG tasked CRT to look for 2 overdue swimmers, also asked NCI to look over cliff. Nothing seen. 2 casualties were found on the beach by the police. Assets stood down. MCA/HMCG No Yes
58328 15/08/2026 NCI Rame Head MOP called NCI re. concern for swimmer in difficulty. HMCG informed, monitoring requested. AWLB tasked to scene and reported casualty was safely on the shore. NCI Yes Yes
58323 15/08/2026 NCI Fleetwood NCI observed a vessel aground, 2 POB, no lifejackets, occupants in water trying to re-launch. HMCG informed. monitoring requested. CH tried to radio casualty - no response. It was decided to await , the next high tide, and no assets were deployed. NCI No Yes
58327 14/08/2026 NCI Swanage NCI observed a yacht run aground. HMCG informed, monitoring requested. Vessel managed to get free and sailed onwards to harbour, CG updated. NCI No Yes
58298 14/08/2026 NCI Portscatho HMCG called NCI reporting a MOP had found personal items on the beach, with no-one visible in area. Area not visible to NCI, but weather conditions supplied. CRT tasked, and found a fisherman whose , belongings they were. NFA. MCA/HMCG No Yes
58307 14/08/2026 NCI Cape Cornwall HMCG called NCI re. overdue sailing vessel, asking if it had been logged. NCI concluded they probably had logged the vessel yesterday. CG issued a DSC alert to all vessels asking for sighting. NCI , continued visual search. MCA/HMCG No Yes
58313 14/08/2026 NCI Lee-on-the-Solent NCI observed a kite sail entangled in inshore buoy, not sure casualty was still with gear. HMCG informed. May Day relay issued. asking for vessel in area to attend. Local vessel attended, found gear , only, and reported casualty was safely ashore and had abandoned gear. Gear was recovered to shore. NFA. 58310 14/08/2026 NCI Folkestone NCI informed harbour authority of 20-25 people tombstoning from pier. HMCG were informed - already aware and happy for police and authority to deal with it. All persons left the pier, CG updated. NCI No Yes
58288 13/08/2026 NCI Brancaster NCI observed 9 adults and 2 children in danger of being cut off by tide on a sandbank. Aldiss lamp used to no avail. Off duty W/K contacted the group, advised to return to main beach, but was ignored., Casualties then started to wade back, HMCG informed NCI they had been contacted by a MOP., concerned for safety of three of the casualties. NCI informed CG they were monitoring situation, , and they all had made their way back to the beach. NCI No Yes
58299 13/08/2026 NCI Wells-next-the-Sea NCI called LGs asking them to check 3 MOP on a sandbank. HMCG called NCI asking for information, and were assured the LGs had confirmed they were safe. NCI No Yes
58304 13/08/2026 NCI Padstow NCI observed 3 MOP in a cove, with a rising tide. @ then left, leaving one in the cove, who tried to leave by an alternative route. HMCG informed, ILB tasked. and decided risk was minimal. NCI asked , to monitor until casualty was safe. Casualty eventually climbed rocks to safety. NCI Yes Yes
58305 13/08/2026 NCI Porthcawl LGs raised concern for 2 persons on a single paddle board, ILB tasked, NCI monitored situation by CCTV. LB recovered casualties and returned them to the shore and safety. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
