During 2020 all NCI stations closed for two months at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. On re-opening most stations were single-crewed for the rest of the year.


Please note: NCI Canvey Island was previously know as NCI Holehaven and moved location on Monday 18 October 2021. All NCI Canvey Island Incident Summaries before that date will be in respect of NCI Holehaven at its previous location.

53826 24/06/2025 NCI Porthcawl HMCG called NCI re. report from ~MOP of a wing foiler in difficulty. Search requested. Casualty located, lying on board and trying to reach beach. CG updated. 53782 23/06/2025 NCI Whitstable HMCG called NCI re. yacht overdue. Monitoring requested, but search revealed nothing. W/K went to harbour to see if vessel was there. CG then advised the vessel had been located off the French coast. MCA/HMCG No Yes
53785 23/06/2025 NCI St Ives Yacht, 3 POB, called NCI - tangled in cable and buoys and unable to move, also engine problem. Owner then called HMCG, ILB tasked. LB crew untangled vessel, and towed it to a safe mooring. NCI Yes Yes
53789 23/06/2025 NCI Torbay Yacht called NCI, it was sailing happily, but had run out of fuel, so unable to enter harbour. NCI informed Harbour Master, who asked NCI to direct them to a mooring, and await assistance next morning, All details passed on to vessel. NCI No No
53799 23/06/2025 NCI Charmouth NCI observed a sailing dinghy having difficulty with rig, having been passed at speed by a RIB. HMCG informed, monitoring requested. Vessel then proceeded under power as sails damaged. , vessel moored safe in harbour. NCI No Yes
53815 23/06/2025 NCI Nells Point HMCG advised NCI 3 MOP were on breakwater and cut off by tide. W/K went on foot to confirm. ILB and CRT tasked, one casualty managed to reach shore, other two were recovered by CRT and LB using ropes, Both had minor injuries but otherwise well. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
53819 23/06/2025 NCI Folkestone MOP reported to NCI a seal on beach, being harassed by other MsOp. HMCG informed. CG reported the British Divers Marine Life rescue checked the seal and were happy with its health. NFA NCI No Yes
53787 22/06/2025 NCI Penzance NCI carried out a search for a possible vulnerable person, CRT also searching. First possible sighting negative, then casualty sighted, HMCG informed, CRT, Police and ambulance attended casualty. MCA/HMCG No Yes
53788 22/06/2025 NCI Moelfre NCI observed 2 paddle boarders in difficulty. HMCG informed. Local vessels asked to assist, one preceded to site. HELO tasked, and picked up one casualty, AWLB arrived, found board but no , casualty. HELO then found second casualty, and recovered them to hospital, one suffering hypothermia. NCI Yes Yes
53790 22/06/2025 NCI Porthcawl HMCG raised alarm re. kayaker in difficulty. ILB tasked, NCI asked to search area to locate casualty. Visual established, ILB recovered casualty and returned then to beach. All well. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
53791 22/06/2025 NCI Rame Head Fishing vessel issued May Day - capsized and washed onto rocks below lookout. HELO and CRT tasked. Casualty taken to lookout for assessment and a 'cuppa'. Wreck of vessel not found. MCA/HMCG No Yes
53758 22/06/2025 NCI Canvey Island HMCG called NCI re.report from MOP of a vessel on fire. NCI informed CG that there was no vessel on fire, but several jet skis in ares, and a container ship emitting smoke. Alert cancelled. MCA/HMCG No Yes
53795 22/06/2025 NCI Cleethorpes MOP informed NCI a person had collapsed close to lookout. Ambulance called via 999, W/K went to offer assistance. Police and ambulance were on scene, and recovered casualty, who had recovered , and was taken to hospital. NCI No No

53766 22/06/2025 NCI Wells-next-the-Sea NCI observed 4 MOP in distress, cut off by tide. HMCG informed, ILB tasked and recovered casualties. NCI Yes Yes
53767 22/06/2025 NCI Exmouth HMCG called NCI re yacht in difficulty. NCI established visual, vessel was dismasted. ILB tasked, and put crew member aboard. Vessel was then safely moored in estuary. All safe. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
53768 22/06/2025 NCI Calshot Tower May Day issued by a yacht taking on water, 7 POB. NCI advised HMCG they had visual. NCI monitored situation as local LB escorted casualty to estuary, still taking on small amount of water. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
53771 22/06/2025 NCI Canvey Island HMCG requested NCI assist in search for a vulnerable MOP, possible suicide risk. Casualty may have entered water. Extensive search using cameras was initiated, aided by CRT at lookout. Search , discontinued after 1.5 hours, no conclusion. MCA/HMCG No Yes

53741 21/06/2025 NCI Cleethorpes MOP reported to NCI a child had been found on beach. NCI advised they be taken to a police led meeting point where the police would deal with it. NCI No No
53742 21/06/2025 NCI Cleethorpes NCI overheard radio reports of 7 dog walkers cut off by tide. CRT tasked, ILB launched and casualties were recovered to beach. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
53743 21/06/2025 NCI Cleethorpes MOP reported to NCI 2 lost children, been searching for 40 minutes. Police called on 999. HMCG informed. casualties were then found and returned to grandparent. NCI No Yes
53745 21/06/2025 NCI Cleethorpes MOP reported to NCI a lost child.Police were still in attendance from previous incident. Search initiated, parent located child, and police offered safety advice. NCI No No
53746 21/06/2025 NCI Cleethorpes MOP reported to NCI a missing child. Police informed, search initiated. HMCG informed, ILB requested. CRT were then tasked and missing child was found 1/2 mile away from initial sighting. NCI Yes Yes
53756 21/06/2025 NCI Canvey Island Vessel issued May Day re. 2 persons in water - both wearing lifejackets. NCI advised HMCG. second vessel retrieved casualties, and returned them to original vessel. CG updated. Both safe and well. NCI No Yes

53765 21/06/2025 NCI Porthcawl HMCG called NCI re. report from MOP of a paddle boarder in difficulty. NCI located casualty, and AWLB, which was in area, was diverted to assist. NCI conned LB to casualty. Second paddle boarder, went to assist, and casualty reached shore safely. LB stood down. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
53825 21/06/2025 NCI Padstow Pan pan issued re. yacht, 5 POB, with engine failure, drifting and no wind. HMCG called Harbour patrol vessel, but unable to assist so any nearby vessels asked. Fishing vessel responded, and offered a, tow. Casualty was towed to be met by harbour patrol vessel and towed to port and safety. MCA/HMCG No Yes
53735 21/06/2025 NCI Brancaster NCI observed 30+ MsOP at risk of being cut off by tide. HMCG informed, Hovercraft and ILB tasked. Casualties were advised to wade back to shore, under supervision. All reached shore safely, assets , stood down. NCI Yes Yes

53740 20/06/2025 NCI Porthcawl NCI observed a paddle boarder and a kayaker a long way offshore. HMCG informed, monitoring requested. casualties appeared to be tiring, CG updated, ILB tasked. CG was in area so hovered over , casualties. ILB recovered both exhausted casualties, and returned them to shore. Assets stood down. NCI Yes Yes
53714 20/06/2025 NCI Newhaven HMG called NCI re. capsized catamaran, visual requested, confirmed, 2 POB. Monitoring requested, vessel righted, CG updated. Incident closed, but NCI continued to monitor. MCA/HMCG No Yes
53716 20/06/2025 NCI Bass Point HMCG called NCI re. motor vessel, 3 POB, adrift with engine failure. Monitoring requested. AWLB tasked, and undertook tow to safe harbour. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
53717 20/06/2025 NCI Lee-on-the-Solent NCI observed a capsized dinghy, 1 person in the water. HMCG informed, monitoring requested. Wind surfer tried to tow dinghy, local LB tasked, but casualties reached shore. All well, assets stood down NCI Yes Yes
53718 20/06/2025 NCI St Donat's Bay HMCG issued broadcast re. paddle boarder in difficulty. NCI observed 2 paddle boarders on CCTV, CG informed. CRT and ILB tasked. Both casualties managed to reach shore unaided, checked by LB. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
53719 20/06/2025 NCI Fleetwood NCI observed a yacht aground, HMCG informed, monitoring requested. CRT attended lookout, ILB tasked, and the 1 POB had miscalculated tides, and would await incoming tide to refloat. NCI Yes Yes
53721 20/06/2025 NCI Hengistbury Head MOP reported to HMCG 3 paddle boarders possibly in trouble. NCI carried out search and saw them climbing onto a buoy, CG updated. casualties then left buoy and returned to shore, all safe. MCA/HMCG No Yes
53722 20/06/2025 NCI Porthcawl NCI observed a kayak, 2 POB, no lifejackets, making no progress against tide. HMCG informed. ILB tasked, and found occupants under influence of alcohol and refusing assistance. Casualties , eventually reached shallow water and were helped by families to shore. NCI Yes Yes
53704 19/06/2025 NCI Hengistbury Head Police visited lookout re. a MISPER, and gave description. Location unknown. NCI advised HMCG of incident. NCI maintained search but nothing seen. NCI stood down, but incident ongoing. Police No Yes
