During 2020 all NCI stations closed for two months at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. On re-opening most stations were single-crewed for the rest of the year.


Please note: NCI Canvey Island was previously know as NCI Holehaven and moved location on Monday 18 October 2021. All NCI Canvey Island Incident Summaries before that date will be in respect of NCI Holehaven at its previous location.

58605 08/09/2026 NCI Newhaven HMCG called NCI re. an activated MOB alert from the marina. Search requested, nothing visible. May Day relay issued by CG. It was confirmed to be an accidental activation. May Day cancelled. MCA/HMCG No Yes
58611 08/09/2026 NCI Needles HMCG called NCI asking for visual on a yacht which was aground - confirmed. CG asked second vessel to assist, but unable to due to draught., but would look. Casualty was listing, but informed CG they , would refloat soon. Second yacht confirmed. Casualty then informed CG they were almost afloat, once under way would head to port for a check. 58617 08/09/2026 NCI Lyme Bay MOP reported to NCI a dead seal on the beach. W/K walked to location but was unable to find seal. HMCG informed. CG reported the seal had been reported on 3/9/26. NFA NCI No Yes
58619 08/09/2026 NCI Shoreham HMCG called NCI re. report from MOP of hearing a ships siren, possibly a ship in trouble. Visual requested - negative. Siren turned out to be a dredger testing its alarm. NFA. MCA/HMCG No Yes
58621 08/09/2026 NCI Shoreham HMCG called NCI re. report from MOP of 2 persons in a kayak waving arms. CCTV revealed 2 POB, apparently in control, CG updated. CRT tasked, and reported no concern, NFA. MCA/HMCG No Yes
58599 07/09/2026 NCI Hengistbury Head A yacht issued a May Day re. a Man Overboard from a jetski. Casualty was on board the yacht. NCI confirmed visual to HMCG. CG cancelled May Day as casualty was on yacht, jetski still floating upside , down. LB tasked to recover. NCI conned LB to jetski. NCI informed owner of jetski it was being recovered, by the LB. 58616 07/09/2026 NCI St Alban's Head NCI informed HMCG of a vessel drifting towards rocks. A range vessel confirmed vessel was adrift, no anchor, no damage. AWLB tasked, NCI asked to monitor. ILB tasked to a coast search. Pan Pan issued., ILB reporte nothing, AWLB found vessel documents, and undertook tow. Vessel then started to take on water, tow detached. LB decide to leave vessel. NCI monitored and casualty vessel then ran , aground, CG updated. Casualty vessel grounded and left as unsafe to recover, incident remained open. NCI Yes Yes
58577 06/09/2026 NCI Brancaster MOP informed NCI of a split bag, marked Ammonium Nitrate, on beach. N.T ranger messaged. HMCG informed, photo supplied. CRT tasked, W3W location supplied, and found an old bag full of , rubbish, non toxic. NT to remove item next day. NCI No Yes
58585 06/09/2026 NCI Exmouth NCI informed HMCG a yacht was aground on sandbank. CRT and ILB tasked. LB conirmed crew were happy to wait for tide to refloat vessel. NFA. Next day, CG asked for search for vessel as it had not , arrived at its destination. Nothing seen, Pan Pan issued, AWLB tasked. Vessel was located, assets stood down. NCI Yes Yes
58573 06/09/2026 NCI Needles Vessel called NCI to say they were aground, assistance requested.HMCG informed, and asked NCI to tell vessel to call CG. CG asked NCI to monitor. W/K went to view, and saw casualty under tow by a , second vessel, CG updated. NFA. NCI No Yes
58601 05/09/2026 NCI Padstow NCI observed 2 MOP enter turbulent water in known danger area. A further three seemed about to enter water, one and dog stayed on shore. NCI informed harbour vessel, and HMCG. Vessel advised , family, who left the water, LGs asked by CG to investigate, and they confirmed they were leaving area. All safe. NCI No Yes
58571 05/09/2026 NCI Ramsgate NCI observed a body board, an adult and child on board, being taken out to sea by strong tide. HMCG informed, W/Kmonitored casualties, ILB tasked. W/K then informed lookout that they had encountered , slack water, and were drifting ashore. CG updated, casualties reached shore, with no obvious problems. CG updated. NCI Yes Yes
58581 05/09/2026 NCI St Ives NCI observed a yacht heading towards a reef, HMCG informed. CG radioed vessel, with no response. Monitoring requested. Vessel crossed reef area, CG updated, vessel continued on passage. NCI No Yes
58572 05/09/2026 NCI Felixstowe HMCG called NCI re. report by MOP of 3 paddle boarders in trouble. Area was scanned, no sign of paddle boarders, but 3 small yachts were seen. CG informed, CRT tasked to check. FAGWI. MCA/HMCG No Yes
58574 04/09/2026 NCI Torbay HMCG called NCI asking for visual on an inflatable, negative but monitoring requested. NCI located vessel, not in distress, NFA. MCA/HMCG No Yes
58582 03/09/2026 NCI Hengistbury Head HMCG called NCI re. call from MOP of a small yacht in difficulty. NCI could not see casualty, poor visibility. Next day a small yacht was washed up on beach, probably casualty in previous day incident MCA/HMCG No Yes

58553 01/09/2026 NCI Folkestone NCI observed 3 persons tombstoning from the pier. HMCG informed. Perpetrators then left the pier, CG updated. NCI No Yes
58554 01/09/2026 NCI Prawle Point Fishing vessel issued a Pan pan with gearbox failure. Tow requested. NCI located vessel and gave accurate location. AWLB tasked, and set up a tow. LB crew member was injured, so ILB recovered crew, member and replied crew on the AWLB. NCI monitored until reached harbour. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
58556 01/09/2026 NCI Worms Head HMCG tasked CRT re. injured MOP on the causeway, medi vac required. NCI established visual, and provided accurate location. CRT attended, requested HELO, which recovered casualty to hospital. MCA/HMCG No Yes
58557 01/09/2026 NCI Torbay HMCG tasked CRT to a missing person, with concern for welfare. Electric wheelchair found at scene. NCI observed casualty half way down cliff, CRT updated. CRTVattended casualty, HELO requested., Police and Fire brigade attended. HELO recovered casualty and transferred them to hospital. No serious injuries. MCA/HMCG No Yes
58519 31/08/2026 NCI Shoreham HMCG called NCI re report of a windsurfer in difficulty, Visual requested. Visual confirmed, accurate position provided. ILB tasked and was conned to casualty by NCI. ILB found casualty to be fine, , and was on a long passage. NFA. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
58528 31/08/2026 NCI Hengistbury Head Yacht issued a Pan Pan re. engine failure, but also had a sail problem. NCI located vessel once correct position had been obtained, HMCG informed. Monitoring requested. AWLB tasked, and towed casualty, to a safe mooring. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
58529 31/08/2026 NCI Wooltack Point HMCG asked NCI two look out for a missing person in the sea, ongoing from previous day. AWLB and ILB were searching. NCI search revealed nothing. Police drone deployed. Seach was ongoing, with unknown conclusion. MCA/HMCG No Yes

58517 30/08/2026 NCI Shoreham HMCG called NCI re. a report from MOP of a kayaker in difficulty. NCI established visual, and they seemed okay, CG updated, monitoring requested. Casualty was actually a wing surfer, who reached , safety of the shore, CG updated. MCA/HMCG No Yes
58518 30/08/2026 NCI Exmouth HMCG called NCI asking for visual on a yacht reported in difficulty. Nothing seen by NCI, CG updated. MCA/HMCG No Yes
58505 30/08/2026 NCI Porthcawl HMCG asked for any vessels to assist a yacht drifting off Porthcawl. Engine swamped. ILBtasked, NCI asked for visual, but poor visibility. CG asked casualty to set off a flare. LB reported vessel had , lost its keel, and was taking on water. Crew member transferred to LB, NCI then established visual by CCTV. Casualty vessel then sank, and crew transferred to AWLB, no injuries. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
58496 29/08/2026 NCI Exmouth NCI informed HMCG of a kite surfer possibly in difficulty, following a call from MOP. ILB tasked. LB reached casualty, who appeared to be making progress, NCI continued to monitor, LB stood down. NCI Yes Yes
58503 29/08/2026 NCI Torbay HMCG called NCI re report from MOP of 3 persons in a small dinghy possibly in difficulty. NCI established visual, NCI informed CG that although they looked inexperienced, they were not in apparent , danger. NCI updated CG that they had returned safely to the beach. NFA MCA/HMCG No Yes
58506 29/08/2026 NCI Southend NCI observed a person in the water, trying to launch a tender towards a cabin cruiser. Attempts failed, HMCG informed. Casualty then tried again, CG updated, as they reached a closer cabin cruiser. , They then tried to reach original boat. CRT tasked, and tried to assist. ILB tasked to cabin cruiser, but could not reach due to falling tide. Vessel eventually grounded and the 2 POB made it ashore. NCI Yes Yes
58507 29/08/2026 NCI Lee-on-the-Solent HMCG called NCI re. an EPIRB activation in area. Any vessel in visual? CG then we're heard in conversation with vessel, and it was decided it was an accidental trigger. NFA. MCA/HMCG No Yes
58508 29/08/2026 NCI Felixstowe Pan Pan was issued by a yacht with engine trouble, HMCG asked for details, NCI could not visualise due to poor visibility. NCI noted a wind farm vessel in area, but casualty did not need assistance. , NCI then established visual with CCTV, casualty under sail making slow progress. CG passed on advice from harbour master not to enter river as tide was low. Casualties engine then totally failed, and , AWLB was tasked to tow casualty to larger harbour. NCI stood down. NCI Yes Yes
58486 28/08/2026 NCI Gosport Yacht issued a Pan Pan re. engine failure. HMCG asked NCI for visual - confirmed. Casualty proceeded under sail, 2 nearby vessels standing by, CG updated. Vessel continued under sail to harbour, and , then was towed to pontoon by a cabin cruiser, Pan Pan cancelled. All safe. MCA/HMCG No Yes
