THE HUPMOBILE VISITS NCI CAPE CORNWALL FOR ANNIVERSARY

21st June 2023 The volunteer members of the National Coastwatch Institution station at Cape Cornwall gave a warm welcome to  Martin Males and his beautiful car, the Hupmobile.

2023 is the 20th anniversary of when Martin, along with his colleague Steve Unwin and the Hupmobile made an epic 3000 mile journey visiting all of the NCI Stations in the UK. They also covered the classic End-to-End route of Lands End to John O’Groats, of which they won the Wheel Trophy…and it is also the 100th birthday of the Hupmobile.

Martin took the opportunity to visit the the lookout at Cape Cornwall (the most westerly NCI station in the UK) where  watchkeeper Hugh gave Martin an update of all things NCI Cape Cornwall, including the historical features of the Cape and the beautiful wildlife.

Their 2003 journey was all in aid of raising much needed funds for NCI Cape Cornwall. Station Manager Richard Saynor said “ All the members, past and present  will always be grateful for your outstanding efforts in graciously supporting ourselves. Thank you Martin, Steve and the Hupmobile. May we wish fair winds and smooth roads as the Hupmobile travels on for hopefully another 100 years”.
