13th June 2018. The members of the National Coastwatch Institution station at Caister played host to the Mayor during a visit to their station
The Mayor, Councillor Mary Coleman and the Mayor’s Consort Councillor Barry Coleman made a visit to the NCI watchstation at Caister this week. During their visit, they spent time in the watch room observing how the watch keepers keep a watchful eye along the coast. Opened in 2011, The NCI watchroom occupies the former Lifeboat Station look-out by kind invitation of the Independent Caister Volunteer Lifeboat Service and is unique amongst NCI look-outs in that it is situated within an operational lifeboat facility.
The Mayor was also given a presentation by DSM Steve Atkins on the history of NCI and the important role that the charity plays in the Search and Rescue operations around our coastline.
