NCI BASS POINT WATCHKEEPER RECEIVES LONG SERVICE AWARD

5th July 2017. Watchkeepers from the NCI station at Bass Point on the Lizard gathered at Mullion Golf Club to present a long service award to watchkeeper Graham Perry.

Graham, from Mawgan-in Meneage, has served as a watchkeeper at the Bass Point station for 10 years, having also spent time at the NCI station at Nare Point.

He was presented with his long service award by Adrian Boaden, who was representing the Goonhilly Wind Farm Community Fund as the guest of honour. Mr Boaden said: “The watchkeepers at Bass Point provide an important service to the walking and seafaring communities around the Lizard, often in the most difficult weather conditions. It gives me great pleasure in presenting this award to Graham Perry for his dedicated service. Bass Point Station is in the business of saving lives and I admire what they do.”

Bass Point station manager, Peter Clements, added: “It’s hard to run a lookout like Bass Point without the help and dedication of people like Graham."

The NCI provides an essential service to everyone using the coast and those out at sea, including fishermen and yachtsmen, and Bass Point was the first ever station, established in 1994.
