11th June 2023. The watchkeepers from the National Coastwatch Institution station at Fleetwood have kept a safety watch over the RNLI Fleetwood Wreck Trek to Wyre Light.

This used to be an annual event until it was cancelled for Health and Safety reasons in 2014. However, some nine years later, the event has been revived with new safety procedures in place.  As part of this, the volunteer watchkeepers from NCI Fleetwood kept a safety watch from their lookout at Rossall Point Observation Tower and acted as Stewards on the beach to assist their RNLI colleagues.

A spokesperson from NCI Fleetwood said “ It was great to meet and speak to so many keen trekkers and hope you all had a memorable trip”
