NCI PORTHCAWL COMMENDED BY THE RNLI

16TH July 2018. The team at NCI Porthcawl have been commended by their colleagues at Portcawl RNLI Lifeboat station for their actions during an incident earlier this month.  In a letter received from Phil Missen, the Lifeboat Operations Manager at Porthcawl, the RNLI thanked the team at NCI Porthcawl for their help with an incident and especially praised the actions of Phil Styles and Vivian Sanders who were on watch during the incident.  Mr Missen wrote to Lesley Suddes, the Chairman of the NCI “A young man had fallen from the pier and could not be seen in the water. The focus from the start was aimed at the team from NCI Porthcawl to search and spot him, all under the most impossible stress and pressure. All the RNLI volunteers on duty praised the professionalism of your crew under extreme conditions, calm and compassionate. It was a very traumatic experience for all involved, in full view of the public, not an easy task when there are hundreds of people watching. Your crew searched, found and passed on clear and concise coordinates to the Lifeboat crew, again under extreme pressure. Please thank your team at Porthcawl, and we look forward to working with them in the future.”  Lesley Suddes added “Excellent stuff, just what NCI is about. Clearly the team at Porthcawl are working closely and successfully with the RNLI.”
