25th July 2019. Earlier this month, watchkeepers from NCI Rame Head toured the Dartmouth Naval College.
On the 18th of July, thirteen watch keepers from the National Coastwatch Institution station at Rame Head visited the Britannia Naval College at Dartmouth. The visit was made all the more special as the guide was Mike Pearce, an NCI watch keeper from Prawle Point. Almost three hours was spent exploring the training establishment for Royal Navy officers, a building steeped in history and traditions. The history of training officers was expertly described by Mike, who turned out to be a fund of knowledge, and the visit turned out to be a nostalgic trip for a couple of members, who had trained there many years ago.
All in all, this was an excellent visit was enjoyed by all those attending, and many thanks were expressed to Mike, by Colin Scott, Station Manager at Rame Head, at the end of a wonderful afternoon.
The photograph shows the watchkeepers outside the college.
