QUEEN'S AWARD FOR VOLUNTARY SERVICE

8 June 2009 NCI Mundesley in Norfolk is one of 95 groups across the UK to be awarded the prestigious Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service which recognises outstanding contributions made to local communities by organisations voluntarily devoting their time for the benefit of others.

The award sets the national benchmark for excellence in volunteering and the activities of those awarded have been judged to be of the highest standard.

NCI Mundesley has received the award for its standard of operation as a visual lookout for the benefit of the local community and for those offshore.
Winners of this year’s award were selected from over 400 different organisations nominated by members of the public who have been helped personally or witnessed the benefits of a particular group’s work in their community.

NCI Mundesley will receive a certificate signed by the Queen together with a commemorative crystal. These will be presented at a special ceremony by the Lord Lieutenant for Norfolk, Richard Jewson and representatives from Mundesley have also been invited to attend a Royal Garden Party at Buckingham Palace in the summer.

Commenting on the Award, Richard May, founder and Chairman of NCI Mundesley said: “We are all thrilled to have received this prestigious award and I wish to put on record my appreciation of the work, loyalty and enthusiasm of all our volunteer watchkeepers over the last 14 years. Throughout that time, I have been aware that they are a quite exceptional group of men and women”.
