During 2020 all NCI stations closed for two months at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. On re-opening most stations were single-crewed for the rest of the year.


Please note: NCI Canvey Island was previously know as NCI Holehaven and moved location on Monday 18 October 2021. All NCI Canvey Island Incident Summaries before that date will be in respect of NCI Holehaven at its previous location.

49307 06/04/2024 NCI Newhaven NCI informed HMCG fireworks were being let off on beach, 3 vehicles involved. Rockets could be mistaken for flares. 49295 05/04/2024 NCI Stone Point A yacht reported on VHF a dinghy adrift - NCI established visual. Passing vessel attempted to pick up but failed. HMCG advised. Dinghy drifted ashore and was dragged above high tide line. , Owners, who had been towing dinghy, arrived to pick it up next morning. MCA/HMCG No Yes 509906
49301 05/04/2024 NCI Porthcawl HMCG called NCI re. report by MOP of object in water. Search requested. Only objects seen were marker buoy and a wing surfer. Visual maintained but nothing seen. MCA/HMCG No Yes 509915
49302 05/04/2024 NCI Charmouth CRT arrived at NCI following report of child injured on beach. NCI requested to keep lookout, and HMCG reported that casualty was on way to hospital by ambulance. MCA/HMCG No Yes 509864

49285 04/04/2024 NCI Calshot Tower NCI observed 2 paddle boarders in difficulty. HMCG informed. Yacht took casualties on board, CG informed. Local LB met yacht and took casualties ashore, one needing ambulance. NCI Yes Yes 509784
49273 03/04/2024 NCI Calshot Tower NCI overheard a call (potential MayDay) requesting assistance, from yacht, 4 POB + 2 dogs. NCI had visual, HMCG informed. ILB tasked to recover vessel, which had run aground by then. ILB towed, casualty to buoy, where it was handed over to Seastart. Casualty towed to safety, crew allegedly ill equipped. 49283 03/04/2024 NCI Shoreham HMCG called NCI re. abandoned surf board on beach. MOP had reported surfer in water. CG contacted after scan and windsurfer and kite surfer seen, no sign of distress. 49258 02/04/2024 NCI Torbay MOP called NCI re washed up drum, labelled Sulphuric Acid, on beach. HM could not be contacted, HMCG informed, CRT tasked. HM then informed NCI the drum had been recovered, CRT stood down. NCI No Yes 509518

49282 02/04/2024 NCI Felixstowe NCI observed a yacht aground in channel. HMCG informed, but vessel freed itself while on the phone to CG. 20 minutes later same vessel was aground again, CG informed and they tried to contact vessel., Yacht then refloated again and entered river, and CG contacted to ascertain all was well. 49193 24/03/2024 NCI St Agnes Head MOP reported to NCI a runner was injured, bleeding badly. W/K called 999, CRT and HELO tasked. NCI provided blankets for casualty, who was taken to hospital by ambulance. Assets stood down. NCI No Yes
49196 24/03/2024 NCI Bembridge HMCG asked NCI to monitor MOP + dog trapped in mud, Casualty not visible. CRT and ILB on scene, NCI acted as radio relay. AWLB also tasked. 49171 19/03/2024 NCI Rhoscolyn HMCG called NCI re. report of person possibly in difficulty on island, reported to be waving. 49168 18/03/2024 NCI Southend MOP advised NCI of a person with a dog waving vigorously then sitting on mud. HMCG advised, CRT tasked. CRT discovered there was no problem - was waving to relative on beach. NFA NCI No Yes 507677

49148 18/03/2024 NCI Torbay MOP called re. concern for kite surfer, falling frequently. NCI had logged casualty, HMCG informed and asked NCI to monitor. Second MOP also expressed concern. 49136 17/03/2024 NCI Shoreham MOP reported to NCI concern for person on beach. While informing HMCG, casualty jumped from breakwater. 2 fishermen threw life ring, which she held onto.
