During 2020 all NCI stations closed for two months at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. On re-opening most stations were single-crewed for the rest of the year.


Please note: NCI Canvey Island was previously know as NCI Holehaven and moved location on Monday 18 October 2021. All NCI Canvey Island Incident Summaries before that date will be in respect of NCI Holehaven at its previous location.

38007 17/05/2021 NCI Charlestown Inflatable 'banana' with 2 aboard drifting in bay. Jet Skis unable to rescue. Reported to HMCG, who asked NCI to observe. Jet Skis went for rope and towed banana back to safety. NCI No Yes

38008 16/05/2021 NCI Porthcawl Routine sweep by NCI revealed 2 MOP cut off by tide. Seen to be scrambling over rocks to next cove, but still cut off. HMCG informed. Poor visibility made monitoring difficult, but casualties safe NCI No Yes

37970 15/05/2021 NCI Bass Point Bulk Carrier appeared to be preparing to anchor close to undersea telephone cables. BT Maritime contacted, investigated and satisfied there was no risk. NCI No No
37963 14/05/2021 NCI Fleetwood NCI phoned HMCG, concerned that a man and 3-4 dogs may have crossed over King Scar. HMCG asked fishing vessel to look. CRT and ILB search but stood down as considered not at risk NCI Yes Yes

39109 13/05/2021 NCI Nare Point Sport boat fouled prop on pot lines. Crew attempted to free. drifted out of sight, HMCG informed, but no assistance required. NCI to monitor. Later report that engine running and picked up mooring. NCI No Yes
37955 12/05/2021 NCI Gosport Yacht observed aground. Informed HMCG and kept under surveillance. Then seen to be under way, no damage confirmed, and safely reached marina NCI No Yes
