29 April 2009 A third watchstation has opened in Wales. NCI Wooltack Point near Haverfordwest is now operational. Station Manager Richard Neale and Peter Williams stood the first watch on Good Friday following a gap of 35 years since the station was last manned by HM Coastguard.
Due to near perfect weather over the holiday period, the volume of leisure craft viewed from the lookout was greater than expected and all volunteers manned watches at some stage over the weekend.
Within a week of commencing watches, the station was involved in monitoring and reporting on the recovery of a disabled motor cruiser.
Wooltack Point has reverted to Sunday watches from 09.30 to 17.30 over the next few weeks while a drive to recruit more volunteers is in progress.
