13th January 2016. Today was a busy day at the NCI stand at the London Boat Show. This morning, Captain Nigel Palmer OBE, the Nether Warden at Trinity House, visited us and was joined by Sir Robin Knox Johnston. Sir Robin, a staunch supporter of NCI and the first person to sail around the world single-handed, stayed for a while to chat with our team and pose for a photograph with them. In the photograph are Julian Milsom (Felixstowe), Captain Nigel Palmer OBE (Nether Warden, Trinity House), Ian Clarke (Felixstowe), Sir Robin Knox Johnston, David Croall (Rossall Point), and Helen Simpson (St Ives).
In the afternoon Sir Alan Massey, Chief Executive of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency also visited our stand and spent nearly an hour talking to our volunteers. Sir Alan is scheduled to give a seminar presentation at the Boat Show on Thursday and has promised that he will visit our stand again tomorrow.
