26th November 2017. The Mayor and Mayoress of Castle Point Borough Council, Brian and Anne Wood, attended the Epping Forest District Council Civic luncheon.

This was followed when the Mayor and Mayoress visited the National Coastwatch Institution’s watch station at Hole Haven on the South West corner of Canvey Island. During this visit, the volunteer watchkeepers were able to explain the role National Coastwatch plays in keeping the public safe around our coasts and their hopes for the continuation of this vital service. The watchkeepers were also able to explain Coast Watch duties and how they carry them out. The Mayor said he was very impressed by the efficiency and discipline he observed.
