7th April 2018. During the Easter weekend, Café Alf Resco owner, Kate Ryder hosted an afternoon of tea and cakes, with all proceeds going to support the NCI station at Froward Point.

The Torquay Master Baker Richard and his wife Trish, kindly made and donated a generous array of biscuits and cakes for the event while craft kits donated by Sainsburys and a selection of chocolate eggs donated by Bookers Wholesalers in Paignton encouraged tourists and visitors to come to the cafe. All these wonderful efforts meant the Froward Point National Coastwatch Station received £626 which will greatly help with the running costs and the improvements planned for 2018. Anthony Purnell, the fundraising co-ordinator for NCI Froward Point said “when local businesses give to charity in this way, it shows they care about their community and are committed to community values”. He added how he was “blown away” by the generosity of the staff at Alf Fresco’s who donated all of their tips to the Coastwatch charity.

The National Coastwatch volunteers man a watch station overlooking the bay at Froward Point in Kingswear on the National Trust South West Coast Path where the volunteers keep a lookout for people who get into difficulties at sea and act as a contact base for walkers enjoying the coast path.
