NATIONAL COASTWATCH AT THE 2019 SOUTHAMPTON BOATSHOW

23rd September 2019. The National Coastwatch Institution’s exhibition trailer was at the 2019 Southampton Boat Show over all ten days of the event.

NCI Head of Public Relations and Corporate Communications, Tim Colquhoun  reportedThe 2019 event which has just ended, has turned out to be the most successful boat show we have attended. There were 480 exhibitors and 300 boats in the marina. Business was brisk on all 10 days of the show. The weather was superb for all but the last day though enthusiasm did not seem to be too damped even then! Volunteers from many stations helped to crew the stand - most of whom have already volunteered to return to help in 2020. The NCI exhibition trailer with its splendid livery, AIS, radio and video set-up, with the many saleable and 'give-away' items proved a remarkable hit. It was most gratifying to be visited by so many yachtsmen who were enthusiastic about what the NCI does and especially the assistance available on Ch.65. (many also gave generous donations!). The NCI is certainly now recognised as the coastal sailor's friend. This point was made time and time again. We have also received over 40 potential volunteer recruitment forms”
