20th May 2020. Who would have thought, three months ago, that this photograph would be an item of news?
This is NCI Rame Heads Station Manager, Colin Scott, on watch at the National Coastwatch Institution lookout at Rame Head, doing what they do, providing 'Eyes Along the Coast'
Colin Scott said “Thanks to sterling work by the roster Manager, Andrew Park, and the enthusiasm of the volunteer watch keepers, as soon as the go ahead was given by the Board of Trustees, NCI Rame Head was reopened on Saturday 16th at 09.00. In common with other larger stations, who usually have two person watches, manpower did not prove to be a problem to provide solo watches. The equipment was quickly returned, a good clean undertaken, and off we went. The opening hours have been slightly reduced from normal summer watches, and a comprehensive 'buddy' system introduced. Everyone is just delighted to be back, even without visitors and trainees, and we all look forward to returning to full normality soon”.
