10 July 2013 It was a scorching Sunday 7th July which marked ten years of operations of NCI Boscastle. The weather, location of the lookout and the turnout made for a most enjoyable and memorable occasion at this key purview on the North Cornish coast. The occasion was attended by NCI Chairman Alan Richards who complemented the station on its recently completed refurbishment.
Following attendance at the lookout (pictured), the assembled company retired to Mayrose Farm, home of Jane Maunder, a watchkeeper and co-opted committee member at Boscastle, who produced an excellent barbeque which lasted well into the evening.
Station Manager John Davis commented: “The weather was kind to us, and it was great to be able to arrange for founder members to visit the lookout, and attend the bbq as our guests to meet former colleagues. We have a very sociable crew at Boscastle who get along well with each other. We are not the busiest station by any means but have had our share of incidents over the last 10 years and have been instrumental in saving life and rescuing stricken vessels, which makes it all worth while.”
