During 2020 all NCI stations closed for two months at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. On re-opening most stations were single-crewed for the rest of the year.


Please note: NCI Canvey Island was previously know as NCI Holehaven and moved location on Monday 18 October 2021. All NCI Canvey Island Incident Summaries before that date will be in respect of NCI Holehaven at its previous location.

41670 23/04/2022 NCI Wells-next-the-Sea NCI observed wind surfer unable to get back onto his board in strong wind. Fellow wind surfers reported to NCI he was injured and getting very cold.HMCG informed, ILB tasked, and casualty recovered., Once onshore, he was helped to car by fellow wind surfers. 41657 21/04/2022 NCI Teignmouth MOP reported to HMCG a drifting open boat 200m off beach. NCI unable to see due to poor visibility. ILB tasked. Casualty happy to wait for rising tide, NCI maintained monitoring, and kept CG informed., Contact maintained throughout, and casualty eventually refloated, and made way to harbour without assistance. 41586 17/04/2022 NCI Newhaven May Day reporting man overboard from small dinghy close to harbour. 2 persons still on board. Reporting vessel too small to recover casualty, but standing by. NCI reported to HMCG that had visual., casualty into open dinghy, but vessel taking on water. NCI maintained visual. Dinghy restated motor and reached safety, escorted by reporting vessel. All safe.
