During 2020 all NCI stations closed for two months at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. On re-opening most stations were single-crewed for the rest of the year.


Please note: NCI Canvey Island was previously know as NCI Holehaven and moved location on Monday 18 October 2021. All NCI Canvey Island Incident Summaries before that date will be in respect of NCI Holehaven at its previous location.

46023 01/06/2023 NCI Exmouth MOP reported to NCI a person was buried in sand close to lookout. HMCG informed, ILB, 3 fire engines, 3 ambulances, 2 Police all attended. NCI had visual on incident. Casualty recovered MCA/HMCG Yes Yes

45938 29/05/2023 NCI Newhaven MOP informed HMCG an abandoned dinghy was on beach. NCI asked for visual - confirmed it was a deflated RIB. CRT tasked to investigate. MCA/HMCG No Yes

45947 29/05/2023 NCI Porthcawl NCI contacted by Surf School, concerned about paddle boarder, unable to return due to tides and wind. HMCG informed. Casualty would return to shore, but below rocks. 45919 28/05/2023 NCI Prawle Point HMCG phoned NCI re. EPIRB from lone kayaker - did NCI have visual - negative. ILB tasked to search. ILB found kayak who had set off EPIRB by mistake. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
45920 28/05/2023 NCI Calshot Tower Vessel reported sailing vessel adrift, HMCG informed, NCI identified vessel. ILB tasked, and awakened crew, and stood by as vessel brought under command. Assets stood down. NCI Yes Yes

45912 27/05/2023 NCI Llandudno HMCG requested visual from NCI on 2 MOP in danger due to rising tide. ILB and CRT tasked. Casualties recovered by ILB to safety, all well. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
45913 27/05/2023 NCI Porthcawl HMCG tasked ILB to 2 paddle boarders in difficulty, requested visual from NCI - confirmed. Both casualties on one board, towing other board. Casualties eventually self rescued, assets stood down. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes

45926 27/05/2023 NCI Whitstable MOP reported a dead seal on beach, close to NCI. HMCG informed, and suspected the same one as reported previous week. NFA NCI No Yes
45900 26/05/2023 NCI Gosport Off duty W/K observed vessel aground. NCI informed HMCG, who were already aware. Skipper had deliberately grounded to relax before reflecting on incoming tide. MCA/HMCG No Yes
