During 2020 all NCI stations closed for two months at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. On re-opening most stations were single-crewed for the rest of the year.


Please note: NCI Canvey Island was previously know as NCI Holehaven and moved location on Monday 18 October 2021. All NCI Canvey Island Incident Summaries before that date will be in respect of NCI Holehaven at its previous location.

41586 17/04/2022 NCI Newhaven May Day reporting man overboard from small dinghy close to harbour. 2 persons still on board. Reporting vessel too small to recover casualty, but standing by. 41645 17/04/2022 NCI Nare Point HMCG caller NCI re. a missing RIB, due to be diving. Other vessel reported to CG the RIBs location, and was apparently safe. MCA/HMCG No Yes 009093
41606 17/04/2022 NCI Porthcawl NCI observed kite surfer in difficulty. HMCG informed. RNLI lifeguards also concerned. ILB tasked, while NCI continued to monitor. Casualty eventually self rescued, ILB confirmed all well. NCI Yes Yes 009078
41572 16/04/2022 NCI Skegness NCI observed MsOP dragging inflatable out to sea, none wearing lifejackets. Dinghy began drifting out to sea. MOP swam out from shore, then returned. Dinghy continued to drift out., HMCG informed, due to concern for their safety, however they managed to return to shore and safety. NFA NCI No Yes 008969
41573 16/04/2022 NCI Porthcawl NCI observed RIB unable to start engine and drifting, on outgoing tide. 2 POB. HMCG informed, visual camera link established. CG called RIB, no response. 41575 16/04/2022 NCI Brancaster NCI observed 4 POB plus dog on island, cut off by tide. HMCG informed. CRT tasked, and recovered one adult and child, and hovercraft arrived and removed others to safety. NCI No Yes 008935
41592 16/04/2022 NCI Porthcawl Motor day boat caught in surf line and being washed ashore, observed by NCI. HMCG asked NCI for visual and SitRep. ILB tasked, and started pumping water from casualty. Meanwhile call from yacht., rope around prop, assistance required. NCI had visual. ILB diverted to assist yacht. 41549 14/04/2022 NCI Hornsea MOP reported to NCI that her elderly mother with dementia was missing from home, heading towards seafront. Police not yet informed. NCI determined it was floating seaweed, but HMCG phoned to say another MOP had reported it also., NCI said it was already under observation, and were asked to maintain observation.
