During 2020 all NCI stations closed for two months at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. On re-opening most stations were single-crewed for the rest of the year.


Please note: NCI Canvey Island was previously know as NCI Holehaven and moved location on Monday 18 October 2021. All NCI Canvey Island Incident Summaries before that date will be in respect of NCI Holehaven at its previous location.

44457 07/12/2022 NCI Shoreham MOP contacted NCI Shoreham informing them there was an unattended wind surfer bag and equipment on beach, NCI contacted HMCG who tasked them to make visual search. Spotted surfer, 800 meters off shore. HMCG requested NCI to keep visual with casualty, who returned to shore safely NCI No Yes
44464 06/12/2022 NCI Portland Bill MOP alerted NCI Portland Bill to windsurfer in difficulties off Chesil Beach. Casualty reached the beach leaving equipment drifting. NCI informed HMCG of danger to other traffic. , Sea Kayakers recovered equipment and returned to NCI compound NCI No Yes
44441 05/12/2022 NCI Swanage NCI Swanage observed vessel heading towards Peveril Ledge - Watchkeeper went to end of Peveril Point tried to make yacht aware of danger- despite shouting and using air horn , lone sailor did not, alter course. 44370 20/11/2022 NCI Canvey Island HMCG asked NCI for information re. person acting strangely. reported by MOP. Person observed in sea above her knees. Monitoring continued, and person did not appear distressed, CG informed. MCA/HMCG No Yes
44284 20/11/2022 NCI Folkestone NCI received SART beacon alert via AIS. Details relayed to HMCG. CG contacted vessel, who confirmed beacon was triggered in error during routine maintenance. NCI No Yes

44204 12/11/2022 NCI Needles NCI observed capsized jetski with person in water. Second jet skier recovered casualty. HMCG informed, casualties had reported by phone, Jet ski regarded as debris. Jet skier then asked to be conned , onto vessel, and it was recovered. NCI No Yes

44217 12/11/2022 NCI Bass Point NCI heard HMCG calling fishing vessel, no response. AIS signal no longer on screen, CG informed with last position. Casualty not visible, distress call from EPIRB had been received. NCI contacted IFV , and requested they call CG. 44226 12/11/2022 NCI Porthcawl HMCG informed NCI they had a report of 3 persons in difficulty swimming. Initial search negative, then extended search carried out. A report that the casualties were out of the water, ILB tasked, CCTV, saw casualties on beach. CRT also on scene. Parent of one of them took them to hospital for check up. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
