During 2020 all NCI stations closed for two months at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. On re-opening most stations were single-crewed for the rest of the year.


Please note: NCI Canvey Island was previously know as NCI Holehaven and moved location on Monday 18 October 2021. All NCI Canvey Island Incident Summaries before that date will be in respect of NCI Holehaven at its previous location.

42334 21/06/2022 NCI Prawle Point Pan Pan from yacht with engine failure. NCI inform HMCG they have visual. Second yacht took casualty under tow and progressed west out of range. MCA/HMCG No Yes
42341 21/06/2022 NCI Lee-on-the-Solent HMCG requested visual from NCI on kite surfer. Nothing seen so W/K walked and made visual contact. Casualty eventually returned to shore safely. CG informed. MCA/HMCG No Yes
42346 20/06/2022 NCI Felixstowe NCI observed cutter baling water. HMCG informed. ILB tasked, reached casualty and were informed they were not in difficulty. Assets stood down. NCI No Yes
42355 20/06/2022 NCI Porthcawl NCI logged a paddle board with 2 POB drifting up channel. HMCG contacted NCI to say a MOP had reported them to be in difficulty. NCI reported they were not currently in danger but would monitor. , Casualties then seen on rocks, CRT tasked. 1 casualty self rescued over rocks, the other paddled to safety. MCA/HMCG No Yes
42326 20/06/2022 NCI Froward Point HMCG advised NCI of ongoing incident involving seven kayakers in difficulty, just out of sight of lookout. Requested visual monitoring. LB recovered 2 casualties to ambulance, and returned to scene., Helo and CRT also involved, other casualties winched off and taken to nearby field to be met by CRT. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes

42398 19/06/2022 NCI Gosport Mayday from motor vessel on fire. NCI had visual, HMCG informed. ILB attended, took crew on board. Smoke seen from vessel, which was burnt out and sank. Debris and fuel contained. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes

42271 17/06/2022 NCI Nells Point NCI observed 2 inflatable kayaks drifting out to sea. HMCG informed. No danger immediately but kept under observation. Attempted to contact with loudhailer. 42272 17/06/2022 NCI Nells Point NCI informed HMCG they had concern for 2 paddle boarders looking very tired. ILB tasked, casualties said they were okay, but ILB agreed they looked tired and recovered them and boards to beach. NCI Yes Yes
42273 17/06/2022 NCI Teignmouth MOP stumbled while leaving lookout. Helped to car but then had a seizure. Ambulance called, treated at scene, and delivered casualty home. NCI No Yes

42269 16/06/2022 NCI Nells Point NCI reported to HMCG 2 paddle boaters in difficulty. Advised CG of vessels nearby, and pilot boat checked them. Both reported to be well, and they safely self recovered . NCI No Yes
42262 15/06/2022 NCI Calshot Tower MOP complained to NCI re. fishing vessel in restricted area in front of beach huts. HMCG informed, and they passed complaint to VTS for investigation. NCI No Yes
42263 15/06/2022 NCI Bass Point Yacht reported to HMCG a possible Mayday. NCI carried out visual search, NCI had heard nothing. Visual search revealed all vessels in area appeared in order. Incident closed. MCA/HMCG No Yes
42266 15/06/2022 NCI Porthcawl MOP reported to NCI 3 people were cut off by tide. HMCG informed, CCTV link established, ILB tasked. 1 casualty picked up by ILB, others able to climb out. Casualty safely ashore by ILB. NCI Yes Yes
