During 2020 all NCI stations closed for two months at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. On re-opening most stations were single-crewed for the rest of the year.


Please note: NCI Canvey Island was previously know as NCI Holehaven and moved location on Monday 18 October 2021. All NCI Canvey Island Incident Summaries before that date will be in respect of NCI Holehaven at its previous location.

52761 19/03/2025 NCI Fleetwood NCI observed 2 MOP and 2 dogs at risk of being cut off by tide. Siren and Visual warnings issued, casualties then turned back and returned to solid ground. HMCG then phoned saying they had been , informed, and NCI were able to reassure CG all was well. NCI No Yes
52771 19/03/2025 NCI Porthcawl NCI observed 2 MOP on pier, unstable on feet. Casualties then disappeared , but one returned, worse than before. HMCG contacted, and advised contact Police. Casualty then sat on edge of pier, so W/K, walked to her and made conversation. W/K escorted casualty off pier, and was met by CRT and Police. Casualty was removed by Police. NCI No Yes
52741 18/03/2025 NCI Canvey Island HMCG asked NCI to search river following a report from a vessel of a lifejacket and debris in the water. Search was negative. HMCG tasked CRT, who recovered a cable from a cable vessel. MCA/HMCG No Yes
52732 16/03/2025 NCI Lee-on-the-Solent NCI informed HMCG of what appeared to be a series of floats - potential hazard to water users. W/K conned ILB to hazard, which turned out to be posies of flowers - removed by LB. NCI Yes Yes
52726 15/03/2025 NCI Hengistbury Head HMCG called NCI asking for search following report from MOP of a flashing light 500 mtrs offshore. Thorough search carried out, nothing seen, no vessels in area. MCA/HMCG No Yes
52723 14/03/2025 NCI Bembridge HMCG called NCI re. SART alert from a RN dive boat. Visual requested, confirmed and on AIS. ILB tasked, and contacted dive boat. No problem was identified. Details of other vessels in area given to CG MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
52727 14/03/2025 NCI Swanage HMCG called NCI and requested a search for a canoe off headland. Visual search carried out, nothing seen. Canoe apparently made its way back unaided. MCA/HMCG No Yes
52740 14/03/2025 NCI Porthcawl Police asked NCI if they had seen an injured MOP on the seafront. NCI conducted a search by camera., and identified casualty, paramedics in attendance. Casualty was treated on roadside, and then, taken to hospital by ambulance. Police No Yes
52709 12/03/2025 NCI Filey NCI observed six MOP cut off by tide, and trying to climb around. Two further persons seen beyond the group of six. NCI informed HMCG, monitoring requested. ILB tasked, and then stood down, as all , managed to self rescue. CRT and Police tasked to ensure all were safe, and all accounted for. NFA NCI Yes Yes
52701 11/03/2025 NCI Bass Point NCI radar showed two cargo vessels on a possible collision course. Neither vessel was visible due to poor visibility. HMCG informed, who monitored situation. Radar then showed vessels passed safely NCI No Yes
52700 10/03/2025 NCI Charmouth MOP reported to NCI possible unexploded ordnance on beach. W/K took photos, emailed then to HMCG. CRT tasked and taped off area to 100 mars. R.N bomb disposal team arrived, and discovered, a rusty metal plate. All assets stood down. NCI No Yes
52708 10/03/2025 NCI Rhoscolyn MOP called NCI re. possible MISPER. Second MOP advised NCI a female had been seen sitting on cliff edge near lookout, original caller updated. Police got invloved, and a local jogger then met with , the female and engaged with her until police arrived. Casualty taken to hospital by police for checks. Police had liaised with HMCG, who had tasked ILB. Police Yes Yes
52681 09/03/2025 NCI Nare Point NCI heard May Day from yacht collided with rocks. HMCG informed by NCI they had visual. NCI informed CG of position and status of casualty. Skipper of vessel inspected damage, and decided to continue , its passage, May Day cancelled. MCA/HMCG No Yes
52684 09/03/2025 NCI Wells-next-the-Sea NCI observed 2 MOP plus dog cut off by the tide at harbour mouth. HMCG informed, tasked ILB which recovered casualties to boathouse unharmed. NCI Yes Yes
52872 08/03/2025 NCI Padstow NCI observed a kite surfer in difficulty. NCI called Harbour Office, and HMCG, who asked NCI to monitor. W/K walked for better view, and was informed the casualty had returned to shore. CG updated. NCI No Yes
52669 08/03/2025 NCI Worms Head NCI observed 2 MOP swimming back to shore after causeway closed by tide. HMCG informed, asked NCI to monitor. W/K observed on foot, and met swimmers when they came ashore. CG updated. NCI No Yes
52679 08/03/2025 NCI Whitstable MOP informed NCI of a grounded yacht, all secure, but possible hazard to navigation. HMCG informed, CRT tasked to investigate. Vessel logged by CG on previous day, CRT to investigate further. NCI No Yes
52661 07/03/2025 NCI Felixstowe HMCG asked NCI for visual on object in water. CRT tasked, and thought object was timber. CRT managed to get large piece of timber above water line - assets stood down. MCA/HMCG No Yes
52662 07/03/2025 NCI Felixstowe NCI observed an object in the water at river entrance. HMCG informed, CRT tasked, as they had just finished with other object (see I/R 52661 ). CRT liaised with NCI re. location, 3 MOP plus CRT , removed a large tree stump, along with other driftwood. NCI No Yes
52665 07/03/2025 NCI St Donat's Bay NCI observed a MOP on edge of cliff, who left, then returned.HMCG informed, and asked NCI to monitor. CG tasked ILB and CRT, and NCI confirmed position. CRT approached casualty, who was kneeling , on cliff edge, but with no ill intent and was sightseeing. CRT offered safety advice. NCI Yes Yes
52675 07/03/2025 NCI Mablethorpe Police visited NCI to check CCTV for evidence of possible mis treatment of a dog. No evidence found, NHA. Police No Yes
52641 05/03/2025 NCI Hengistbury Head Motor vessel was in difficulty in thick sea mist during crossing from Channel Islands. AIS not working, fog horn sounding. HMCG asked NCI if they had an update, as comms with CG poor. W/K left lookout, to listen for fog horn. CG radioed vessel with no response. NCI closed lookout with permission from CG, incident ongoing. MCA/HMCG No Yes
52645 05/03/2025 NCI Folkestone HMCG contacted NCI re. report of 2 MOP climbing cliffs. 1 W/K investigated, and saw I MOP on cliff, CG updated. W/K liaised with CRT from cliff top, and incident then handed over to CRT. MCA/HMCG No Yes
52646 05/03/2025 NCI Needles Motor cruiser reported to HMCG and intermittent electrical fault, including fog horn and AIS. On passage from Channel Islands ( see I/R 52641 - Hengitsbury Head ). HMCG asked NCI for visual - negative, due to dense fog. NCI located casualty on AIS, but no radio contact made by CG. NCI then stood down as vessel was making headway. MCA/HMCG No Yes
52640 04/03/2025 NCI Fleetwood NCI expressed concern for MOP with dog, worried they were about to be cut off by tide. HMCG informed. casualty then gradually waded back to shore and was met by CRT. All safe. NCI No Yes
52599 02/03/2025 NCI St Ives HMCG called NCI re. report from MOP of surfer possibly in trouble. Visibility difficult, so ILB tasked, and reported a medal in area, but no surfer in trouble. NFA MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
52606 02/03/2025 NCI St Agnes Head HMCG asked NCI to search for missing surfer. Nothing seen, CG informed. ILB and LGs tasked but also nothing found. Assets stood down. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
52611 02/03/2025 NCI St Donat's Bay Commercial F.V. called HMCG with loss of power. NCI informed CG they had visual, vessel at anchor. Pan Pan issued, AWLB tasked, and arrived on scene. NCI closed lookout before incident resolved. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
52612 02/03/2025 NCI Calshot Tower Motor vessel, 5 POB plus dog, issued May Day - vessel on fire. HMCG asked NCI for visual - negative, so asked to scan area and report. NCI then contacted CG saying they had visual, no smoke visible. , Sea Star and ILBs headed for casualty, and all but one casualties transferred to LB. Sea Start undertook tow back to river. Paramedics assessed casualties for possible CO poisoning. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
52592 01/03/2025 NCI Bembridge NCI observed a MOP on wrong side of fence on cliff top. HMCG and CRT informed. CRT recovered person, who was a bird watcher, and advised them of danger. NCI No Yes
42608 01/03/2025 NCI Porthcawl HMCG called NCI re. report of child stuck in mud at entrance to marina. NCI established visual, and created camera link to CG. CRT arrived and helped family pull casualty out of mud. All well. MCA/HMCG No Yes
52579 28/02/2025 NCI St Ives NCI observed an object 2 nm offshore - possible craft. HMCG informed, and tasked a nearby vessel to investigate, but unable to see object. ILB tasked, and conned to object by NCI. Object was an , empty life raft, presumed dislodged from another vessel. ILB recovered object. NCI Yes Yes
52590 27/02/2025 NCI Exmouth HMCG received call from MOP, which was disconnected before information was passed. NCI asked to scan area for casualties, nothing seen. CG then renewed contact, which had been a swimmer and dog , possibly in difficulty. CG confirmed matter was resolved, NFA. MCA/HMCG No Yes
52574 26/02/2025 NCI Bembridge On opening lookout, NCI joined a search for a MISPER from the previous day. CRT used NCI radios for comms. After an extensive search nothing was found, all assets stood down. MCA/HMCG No Yes
52567 24/02/2025 NCI Nare Point NCI heard HMCG talking about a casualty trapped on rocks. They informed CG they had visual, and would monitor situation. ILB and CRT tasked. CRT extricated casualty to top of cliff by rope. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
52549 23/02/2025 NCI Canvey Island HMCG rang NCI re. report from a passing airliner of a vessel on fire. NCI searched area and at position reported saw a container vessel, with nothing untoward observed. No other vessels were seen, CG informed of finding, and it was assumed to be the vessel clearing her funnel. MCA/HMCG No Yes
52552 22/02/2025 NCI St Donat's Bay MOP advised NCI a walker was injured on coast path. HMCG informed, CRT tasked, ambulance requested. casualty was transferred to car park, and then to hospital by partner as no ambulance available. NCI No Yes
52553 22/02/2025 NCI Hengistbury Head NCI observed a RIB aground on sand bar. POB got out but could not start engine. HMCG informed, monitoring requested. Passing ferry also reported incident. ILB tasked, and attached a tow line. , Casualty vessel was recovered to quay, all safe. NCI Yes Yes
52554 22/02/2025 NCI Hengistbury Head MOP informed NCI there was a possible harmful substance on beach. W/K went to observe, HMCG informed, photo supplied. Incident was closed after lookout closed, Environment Agency involved. NCI No Yes
52555 22/02/2025 NCI Shoreham HMCG called NCI re. call from MOP of paddle boarder in difficulty. NCI observed casualty, saw no sign of distress, and monitored them come safely ashore. CG updated. MCA/HMCG No Yes
