During 2020 all NCI stations closed for two months at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. On re-opening most stations were single-crewed for the rest of the year.


Please note: NCI Canvey Island was previously know as NCI Holehaven and moved location on Monday 18 October 2021. All NCI Canvey Island Incident Summaries before that date will be in respect of NCI Holehaven at its previous location.

CRT arrived in connection with another incident, and they were , informed the Childs aunt had contacted LGs and was on way to collect child. 50464 29/07/2024 NCI Filey HMCG contacted NCI re missing young girl. Search requested, description given. NCI commenced search and identified parent, and got further details. LGs 4x4 found missing child on beach and , returned her to mother. CG updated. MCA/HMCG No Yes
50565 29/07/2024 NCI Hengistbury Head HMCG called NCI re. report from MOP of paddle boarder struggling. NCI had visual, and then advised CG that ILB was in area, but had lost visual. No further sightings were made. NFA MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
50572 29/07/2024 NCI Mablethorpe NCI and CRT tasked to search for floating object, ILB tasked as thought to be a dinghy. LB found inflatable dinghy plus balloon, no persons present. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
50577 29/07/2024 NCI Stone Point NCI heard radio call to other NCI stations from yacht, re. 2 youths on paddle board struggling against tide. ILB tasked ro recover casualties, who had reached the shore safely. Assets stood down. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes

50600 28/07/2024 NCI Southend MOP informed NCI of a suspicious object on beach. Police informed, and arrived to investigate. Bomb disposal crew were called and dealt with object. No further NCI involvement. NCI No Yes
50552 28/07/2024 NCI Fleetwood NCI observed walkers in danger of being cut off by tide. W/K attempted to warn with megaphone but unable. Radio traffic confirmed they were under observation by ILB. 50603 28/07/2024 NCI Nells Point NCI became concerned for safety of 2 MOP with a paddle board climbing rocks. HMCG informed, monitoring requested. Both persons continued to climb, and eventually reached safety of shore. NFA NCI No Yes

50562 28/07/2024 NCI Nare Point HMCG called NCI re. motor vessel, 1 POB, with engine failure. NCI asked to monitor - CG informed several yachts were close by. ILB tasked, position provided by NCI, and when close by NCI stood down. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes

50516 27/07/2024 NCI Hengistbury Head Pan Pan heard re. yacht with engine failure in harbour entrance, 2 POB with lifejackets. HMCG responded, NCI informed CG they had visual. Casualty at anchor. Jet ski then towed vessel to deeper water, ILB tasked, one crew placed on vessel., and undertook tow to harbour. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
50517 27/07/2024 NCI Calshot Tower Pan Pan from yacht with loss of power. NCI confirmed visual to HMCG. Seastart assisted, undertook tow, supported by LB. Pan Pan cancelled. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
50518 27/07/2024 NCI Swanage HMCG tasked ILB to missing paddle boarder. NCI called CG with possible sighting, info passed to ILB and AWLB which had also been tasked. LG then reported casualty was safe and well on beach. NFA MCA/HMCG Yes Yes

50526 27/07/2024 NCI Gosport Yacht called NCI for wind conditions, as they had fouled prop, but were intending to enter harbour under sail. HMCG informed, also HM, who was aware of intentions. Small RIB stood by as it entered. , RIB assisted vessel to marina berth. MCA/HMCG No Yes
50528 27/07/2024 NCI Exmouth NCI observed a jet ski aground on sand bank. MOP advised engine failure. HMCG and LGs advised. Casualties returned to shore by LGs jet ski. HM advised of abandoned jet ski - later recovered. NCI No Yes
50509 26/07/2024 NCI St Alban's Head NCI received a call from an injured MOP on coast path. Knee swollen and unable to walk. HMCG informed, CRT attended casualty after comms difficulties, and assisted to car park. Made own way to A&E NCI No Yes
50544 26/07/2024 NCI Ramsgate MOP informed LGs that one foiling kite surfer had not returned to beach with his companion. LGs contacted NCI to search. NCI had logged pair, only one of which seemed experienced. NCI established, The second had returned to shore below cliffs, HMCG informed, asked NCI to monitor. CRT tasked, NCI stood down as out of view from lookout. NCI No Yes
50510 26/07/2024 NCI Hengistbury Head NCI observed a kite surfer in difficulty, second KS trying to help. HMCG informed, ILB tasked, and conned to casualty by NCI. Both kite surfers managed to swim ashore, confirmed by ILB. NFA NCI Yes Yes
50514 26/07/2024 NCI Gosport DSC alert re. vessel taking on water, 2 POB 1 lifejacket. NCI identified vessel, visual confirmed to CG. Yacht attended, took crew off, and undertook tow to harbour. Other vessels in attendance. MCA/HMCG No Yes
50524 26/07/2024 NCI Rhoscolyn NCI observed a capsized sailing vessel, I person in water, struggling to right vessel. 2nd vessel assisting. HMCG informed. ILB on another job. Casualty in water taken onboard second vessel, but with, 2 POB it was struggling. CG updated. ILB to collect capsized vessel, casualties arrived at shore safely, met by CRT, all well. 50525 26/07/2024 NCI Rhoscolyn NCI received MayDay from coasteerers, no reply from HMCG. Vessel then called CG, who decided the two calls were the same incident. NCI No Yes
50527 26/07/2024 NCI Nells Point Vessel entering harbour reported to NCI a significant rock fall onto beach. HMCG informed. W/K investigated, local council in attendance. CG updated. Later a second fall was reported nearby, CG and , council informed. W/K went to warn MsOP. NFA NCI No Yes
50529 26/07/2024 NCI Nells Point HMCG called NCI re. kite surfer in difficulty, who was swimming to beach. CRT and ILB tasked and casualty reported to have self recovered. ILB then tasked to kayaker in trouble, but all well. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
50505 25/07/2024 NCI St Ives NCI observed a swimmer in a rip current, warned by megaphone but no response. HMCG informed. Swimmer then managed to swim back to shore unaided. NCI No Yes
50508 25/07/2024 NCI Porthcawl HMCG called NCI re. report from MOP of a small dinghy drifting towards a rock. Scan using camera identified a FV in area, also the ILB. Further contact with MOP revealed it was the ILB he had seen. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
50545 25/07/2024 NCI Penzance MOP arrived at station suffering chest pains, requiring assistance. NCI rang 999 for ambulance, which arrived and transferred casualty to hospital. NCI No No
50496 25/07/2024 NCI Brancaster MOP reported to HMCG a yacht had capsized west of NCI station, CRT and ILB tasked. NCI requested to monitor. LB then confirmed the vessel had been there several months. NFA. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
50497 24/07/2024 NCI Exmouth Police called NCI re. MOP, possibly on beach, with concern for their welfare. Search revealed nothing. Police No Yes
50481 24/07/2024 NCI Newhaven NCI had concern for inflatable with 2 adults and 1 child on board. 0.5 mile offshore in deteriorating visibility. Visual contact was then lost, HMCG informed, and requested monitoring. Casualties , later seen approaching beach, all safe, CG informed. NFA NCI No Yes
50495 24/07/2024 NCI Gosport Harbour pilot reported it was searching for 1 or 2 persons in water, suspected of jumping from ferry. NCI commenced search, joined by LB. Search was then resolved as it was a swimmer caught in wash, , and assisted by second swimmer. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
50470 23/07/2024 NCI Fleetwood HMCG contacted NCI re. report of MOP + dog cut off by tide, monitoring requested. ILB and CRT tasked. Weather conditions provided. ILB recovered casualty and dog, and passed them over to ambulance. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
50478 23/07/2024 NCI Hengistbury Head Pan Pan re. yacht aground in harbour. NCI advised HMCG they had visual. Monitoring requested, tide was falling. ILB tasked, laid anchor and advised crew to stay onboard until the tide rose. NFA MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
50479 23/07/2024 NCI Gosport MayDay from yacht, 1 POB, re. injured crew member - hand trapped in winch. NCI established visual, HMCG advised. LB tasked, and conned to casualty by NCI. 50480 23/07/2024 NCI Exmouth NCI observed a RIB, 2POB, aground. HMCG advised. LGs jets approached, but assistance declined. NCI monitored, until RIB refloated and got underway. NCI No Yes
