During 2020 all NCI stations closed for two months at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. On re-opening most stations were single-crewed for the rest of the year.


Please note: NCI Canvey Island was previously know as NCI Holehaven and moved location on Monday 18 October 2021. All NCI Canvey Island Incident Summaries before that date will be in respect of NCI Holehaven at its previous location.

50933 14/08/2024 NCI Padstow NCI heard HMCG calling HELO re. surfboard in sea nearby. CG asked NCI for visual, W/K went with mobile radio to location. 50850 13/08/2024 NCI Nells Point MOP reported a swimmer in difficulty, HMCG called NCI who confirmed swimmer was not in immediate difficulty. CG requested NCI monitor situation. LGs called by CG and swiped came safely ashore. MCA/HMCG No Yes
50809 13/08/2024 NCI Filey HMCG called NCI re. report from MOP of a dinghy, 2POB, struggling to return to shore. NCI confirmed they were drifting out to sea. CRT and ILB tasked, and ILB recovered casualties to shore. All safe. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
50810 13/08/2024 NCI Hengistbury Head Yacht called HMCG with engine failure. NCI established visual. Pan Pan issued, NCI gave CG an update. Yacht initially offered assistance, then withdrew. Second yacht offered but 40 minutes away., Casualty made slow progress under sail, lost to view from HH NCI and hand over to Needles NCI. MCA/HMCG No Yes

50813 13/08/2024 NCI Lee-on-the-Solent NCI observed a kite surfer in difficulty. Separated from kite and struggling. HMCG informed, monitoring requested. Canoeist offered help - rejected. Casualty drifted to shore with wind and tide. NFA NCI No Yes
50819 13/08/2024 NCI Chapel Point HMCG called NCI re. inflatable, 4 POB, being blown out to sea. NCI established visual, gave details to CG. Occupants waving. ILB tasked. 50836 13/08/2024 NCI Needles Yacht issued Pan Pan with engine failure. Vessel offered help, HMCG called NCI to request monitoring. Initial tow failed and second vessel eventually towed casualty to harbour and safety. MCA/HMCG No Yes
50786 12/08/2024 NCI Calshot Tower Watersport centre called NCI re. person face down in water, HMCG informed. Canoe seen nearby. Casualty recovered to beach, HELO, ILB, ambulance and Fire Brigade attended. Casualty declared deceased. NCI Yes Yes

50812 12/08/2024 NCI Mablethorpe RNLI LGs started search for missing child, NCI also started search, and updated LGs with area scanned. Police and CRT involved, child found safe at a cafe. RNLI Yes Yes
50776 12/08/2024 NCI Newhaven MayDay from jetski re. sinking boat with people in water. Boat sank and 5 persons picked up by 3 jet skis. HELO and AWLB tasked. HMCG asked NCI for visual, but poor visibility. Vessel was a , fishing charter, which took on water over stern. Casualties rescued by jet skis and taken to beach. Ambulance attended. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes

50757 11/08/2024 NCI Rame Head MOP reported to NCI a SUP in difficulty. W/K made visual search - negative. HMCG informed, search continued. W/K stayed on late to continue search, along with ILB. Boarder then contacted CG , saying he was the suspected casualty and was safely in harbour. NCI Yes Yes

50720 09/08/2024 NCI Prawle Point NCI observed a yacht with power failure and start drifting. HMCG informed. CG contacted vessel asking if assistance required. They declined as they were confident they knew problems, , Vessel weighed anchor, and later contacted NCI to say problem was solved and they were under way. CG advised. NCI No Yes
50721 09/08/2024 NCI Exmouth NCI observed a paddle boarder struggling with a second, injured paddle boarder flat on his board. Local LGs contacted, who brought casualty ashore with a dislocated shoulder. Air ambulance was on , scene NCI No Yes
