During 2020 all NCI stations closed for two months at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. On re-opening most stations were single-crewed for the rest of the year.


Please note: NCI Canvey Island was previously know as NCI Holehaven and moved location on Monday 18 October 2021. All NCI Canvey Island Incident Summaries before that date will be in respect of NCI Holehaven at its previous location.

50642 03/08/2024 NCI Calshot Tower HMCG called NCI requesting visual on vessel in distress. Speedboat identified, CG informed. Rescue LB arrived, transferred occupants and took vessel under tow. ILB then took crew to safety. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
50711 02/08/2024 NCI Torbay HMCG tasked ILB to a speedboat in difficulty, reported by MOP. No trace found, then vessel reported to be in other location, NCI asked for visual but negative. ILB took casualty under tow to harbour. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes

50610 01/08/2024 NCI Portland Bill NCI reported a fender in an unusual position, attached to seabed. NCI conned pilot vessel with Police on board, to position. Police checked and left the scene. NCI No Yes
50615 01/08/2024 NCI Lee-on-the-Solent HMCG called NCI re. 2 persons on paddle boards reported missing. Visual search requested. @ persons seen, but not those of interest. ILB joined search, outside NCI area. , Casualties later reported to have been found safe and well. NFA MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
50617 01/08/2024 NCI Stone Point HMCG called NCI re. report from MOP of 2 persons on a paddle board causing concern. Visual not achieved, so W/K went on patrol and encountered 2 persons matching description, with PB. , NCI informed CG that they were safe, but local LB continued search until safety of casualties was confirmed. 50630 01/08/2024 NCI Felixstowe NCI observed a cabin cruiser grounding at entrance to river. HMCG informed, monitoring requested. CRT tasked, plus sea cadets in RIB. The RIB towed vessel off sandbank, and it proceeded to harbour NCI No Yes
50602 30/07/2024 NCI Porthcawl HMCG contacted NCI re. report from MOP of 2 persons near cliff edge. Camera search requested. Visual established, camera linked to CG. Casualties then moved back to safety, and 2 others were then , seen near cliff edge. They eventually moved away to safety. CRT to be sent to give safety advice. MCA/HMCG No Yes
50577 29/07/2024 NCI Stone Point NCI heard radio call to other NCI stations from yacht, re. 2 youths on paddle board struggling against tide. ILB tasked ro recover casualties, who had reached the shore safely. Assets stood down. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
50578 29/07/2024 NCI Rhoscolyn NCI observed a capsized Topper, person in water, vessel drifting away. Second vessel picked up casualty. HMCG informed, NCI asked to monitor. 50580 29/07/2024 NCI Hengistbury Head Yacht reported paddle boarder in difficulty. Message relayed to HMCG, but in area of another NCI station. Paddle boarder safely reached shore. (see I/R 50577) NCI Yes Yes
50581 29/07/2024 NCI St Ives NCI observed SUP and inflatable kayak total of 4 POB, drifting in ebbing tide. HMCG informed, one casualty now in the water. LGs attended, and recovered 1 casualty, and advised others to return , to beach. All safe. NCI No Yes

50604 29/07/2024 NCI Nells Point NCI heard radio call re. missing child on beach. ILB, CRT, Police, LGs and HELO involved. W/K went to search with binoculars, informed CG of visual contact. Casualty recovered safe by police and CRT. MCA/HMCG No Yes

50563 29/07/2024 NCI Filey Lost child arrived at station, saying parents had left beach. On holiday and just arrived. Police informed, also HMCG made aware. CRT arrived in connection with another incident, and they were , informed the Childs aunt had contacted LGs and was on way to collect child. Police arrived same time, child left with his aunt, CG updated. NCI No Yes
50464 29/07/2024 NCI Filey HMCG contacted NCI re missing young girl. Search requested, description given. NCI commenced search and identified parent, and got further details. LGs 4x4 found missing child on beach and , returned her to mother. CG updated. MCA/HMCG No Yes

50530 28/07/2024 NCI Newhaven May Day from vessel sinking. HMCG tasked AWLB. NCI informed CG they had visual, and conned LB to casualty. Vessel sank, casualty picked up by attending vessel, and transferred to LB. All safe. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes

50552 28/07/2024 NCI Fleetwood NCI observed walkers in danger of being cut off by tide. W/K attempted to warn with megaphone but unable. Radio traffic confirmed they were under observation by ILB. 50603 28/07/2024 NCI Nells Point NCI became concerned for safety of 2 MOP with a paddle board climbing rocks. HMCG informed, monitoring requested. Both persons continued to climb, and eventually reached safety of shore. NFA NCI No Yes

50516 27/07/2024 NCI Hengistbury Head Pan Pan heard re. yacht with engine failure in harbour entrance, 2 POB with lifejackets. HMCG responded, NCI informed CG they had visual. Casualty at anchor. Jet ski then towed vessel to deeper water, ILB tasked, one crew placed on vessel., and undertook tow to harbour. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
50517 27/07/2024 NCI Calshot Tower Pan Pan from yacht with loss of power. NCI confirmed visual to HMCG. Seastart assisted, undertook tow, supported by LB. Pan Pan cancelled. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
50518 27/07/2024 NCI Swanage HMCG tasked ILB to missing paddle boarder. NCI called CG with possible sighting, info passed to ILB and AWLB which had also been tasked. LG then reported casualty was safe and well on beach. NFA MCA/HMCG Yes Yes

50526 27/07/2024 NCI Gosport Yacht called NCI for wind conditions, as they had fouled prop, but were intending to enter harbour under sail. HMCG informed, also HM, who was aware of intentions. Small RIB stood by as it entered. , RIB assisted vessel to marina berth. MCA/HMCG No Yes
50528 27/07/2024 NCI Exmouth NCI observed a jet ski aground on sand bank. MOP advised engine failure. HMCG and LGs advised. Casualties returned to shore by LGs jet ski. HM advised of abandoned jet ski - later recovered. NCI No Yes
50529 26/07/2024 NCI Nells Point HMCG called NCI re. kite surfer in difficulty, who was swimming to beach. CRT and ILB tasked and casualty reported to have self recovered. ILB then tasked to kayaker in trouble, but all well. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
50509 26/07/2024 NCI St Alban's Head NCI received a call from an injured MOP on coast path. Knee swollen and unable to walk. HMCG informed, CRT attended casualty after comms difficulties, and assisted to car park. Made own way to A&E NCI No Yes
