During 2020 all NCI stations closed for two months at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. On re-opening most stations were single-crewed for the rest of the year.


Please note: NCI Canvey Island was previously know as NCI Holehaven and moved location on Monday 18 October 2021. All NCI Canvey Island Incident Summaries before that date will be in respect of NCI Holehaven at its previous location.

45808 11/05/2023 NCI Froward Point Pan Pan from sail training vessel, 7 POB, engine failure. Under sail and attempting to restart engine. 45786 10/05/2023 NCI Froward Point Pan Pan from yacht with jammed mainsail and no engine. NCI had visual, casualty drifting. AWLB tasked, put crew member on board, and towed to port. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
45715 09/05/2023 NCI Gosport Pan Pan from motor vessel, 2 POB, with engine failure. NCI confirmed to HMCG they had visual. Vessel then restarted engine and made way back to marina. Pan Pan cancelled. MCA/HMCG No Yes
45734 09/05/2023 NCI Nare Point NCI observed lone walker on rocks, attempting to climb cliff. Seen sliding down and lost from view. HMCG called NCI, having had 999 call from casualty. CRT tasked, NCI monitored, and casualty , recovered with ankle injury. MCA/HMCG No Yes
45735 09/05/2023 NCI Nare Point NCI observed yacht dragging anchor in bad weather. HMCG informed, asked NCI to monitor. Vessel started engine, weighed anchor, and set course to safety. NCI No Yes
48151 08/05/2023 NCI Southend NCI observed kite surfer entangled in A/S boom. MOD company informed, and HMCG. ILB tasked. NCI lost visual, and CG informed NCI casualty was on land with gear. All well, assets stood down. NCI Yes Yes

45697 07/05/2023 NCI Hengistbury Head HMCG requested NCI maintain visual on windsurfer in difficulty. Visual established, had been logged earlier. As wind increased, casualty managed better and reached shore safely. CG informed. MCA/HMCG No Yes
45701 07/05/2023 NCI Calshot Tower Passing vessel advised a fisherman was at risk on spit due to incoming tide. NCI had him under observation. LB tasked by HMCG, but fisherman waded to shore and safety. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
45702 07/05/2023 NCI Brancaster NCI observed 3 MOP cut off on island by tide. HMCG informed, and liaised with warden. Casualties then waded across channel to safety, LB cancelled, all safe. NCI Yes Yes

45782 06/05/2023 NCI St Donat's Bay HMCG requested assistance for cabin cruiser needing a tow. NCI did not have visual, but could not see any vessels in area. AWLB tase. NCI then established visual. LB took casualty under tow, 2 POB , plus dog. Towed to safety, all safe. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes

45693 04/05/2023 NCI Porthcawl NCI observed a MOP climbing on cliffs, possibly in difficulty. HMCG informed, camera link established. ILB tasked, on exercise and asked to look. Climber reached top of cliff eventually and safety. NCI Yes Yes

45595 30/04/2023 NCI Brancaster NCI observed 7 MOP on sand bar cut off by tide. HMCG informed. 4 casualties managed to wade to shore, then other three decided to swim to shore, which they did safely. LB stood down. NCI Yes Yes

45608 30/04/2023 NCI Hengistbury Head SART alert activated. NCI located source and informed HMCG. MOB alert shown to be still on vessel. Signal lost, CG informed so assumed accidental activation. NCI No Yes
45620 30/04/2023 NCI Charlestown HMCG called NCI re. 2 paddle boarders, one towing other. NCI monitored progress, CRT tasked. casualties reached beach safely, CG informed. CRT met casualties on beach. All safe. MCA/HMCG No Yes

45612 27/04/2023 NCI Polruan NCI monitored yacht by radar in fog, which came close to port, then turned 180 degrees and left area. NCI reported possible suspicious activity to HMCG, who chose not to raise incident. NFA. NCI No Yes
