During 2020 all NCI stations closed for two months at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. On re-opening most stations were single-crewed for the rest of the year.


Please note: NCI Canvey Island was previously know as NCI Holehaven and moved location on Monday 18 October 2021. All NCI Canvey Island Incident Summaries before that date will be in respect of NCI Holehaven at its previous location.

44014 27/10/2022 NCI Skegness NCI observed 2 young children at waters edge, tide incoming - no adults seen. Children very cold, HMCG informed, monitoring requested. Children then left beach - parents had been watching. NCI No Yes
44009 26/10/2022 NCI Gosport Pan Pan from sail training ship with steering loss, 16 POB. Casualty proceeded to anchorage under power, emergency steering working. When wind abated, casualty proceeded to home port, Pan Pan , cancelled MCA/HMCG No Yes
44010 26/10/2022 NCI Padstow HMCG called NCI re. call from MOP about 4 MOPs and dog cut off by tide. NCI had visual, and were able to confirm that group were not at risk, and in no difficulty. MCA/HMCG No Yes
44016 26/10/2022 NCI Stone Point NCI observed yacht drifting with anchor down. HMCG informed. Handed over to Calshot NCI, 1 or 2 POB. ILB tasked and conned on by NCI. ILB towed casualty to safety of river. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
44031 26/10/2022 NCI Calshot Tower Yacht observed by NCI at anchor, pitching violently. Stone Point NCI had already informed HMCG, and LB tasked. Believed to be 3 POB. LB took casualty under tow to safety. NCI Yes Yes
44041 25/10/2022 NCI Mundesley Elderly couple reported to NCI to be stuck in soft sand. HMCG informed. Casualties eventually freed themselves after a struggle and reached safety. MCA/HMCG No Yes

43973 23/10/2022 NCI Porthcawl NCI received request from Police to search for distressed MOP. Extensive camera search carried out, HMCG kept updated. Fading light caused search to end. Casualty later found safe inland. Police No Yes
43945 22/10/2022 NCI Fleetwood NCI observed sloop aground. HMCG informed, CRT tasked. Vessel had been deliberately beached following recent incident, and would be there some time. Other W/Ks informed. NCI No Yes
43953 22/10/2022 NCI Lee-on-the-Solent HMCG called NCI re. report from MOP about missing paddle boarder. Search requested, casualty located heading for shore. CG informed, W/K contacted casualty and offered safety advice. MCA/HMCG No Yes
43962 22/10/2022 NCI Shoreham MOP called NCI re. kite surfer in difficulty. Unable to inflate rig. HMCG informed, and casualty drifted out of sight. W/K went to look, and saw casualty self rescue. CG informed NCI No Yes

43954 20/10/2022 NCI Cape Cornwall NCI observed large commercial vessel in TSS not showing AIS. HMCG informed who eventually contacted vessel and told them to rectify situation. NCI No Yes
43928 18/10/2022 NCI Hengistbury Head HMCG called NCI re. abandoned wing foil seen in water by MOP. NCI did not establish visual, MOP called NCI with sighting. ILB and CRT tasked, and sail recovered by surfer, which had blown off beach., NFA. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
43974 18/10/2022 NCI Nare Point MOP called HMCG re. kite surfer possibly in trouble. NCI contacted, already had seen casualty. NCI reported not in distress but with limited skill.
