During 2020 all NCI stations closed for two months at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. On re-opening most stations were single-crewed for the rest of the year.


Please note: NCI Canvey Island was previously know as NCI Holehaven and moved location on Monday 18 October 2021. All NCI Canvey Island Incident Summaries before that date will be in respect of NCI Holehaven at its previous location.

42890 30/07/2022 NCI Shoreham MOP called HMCG re. kite surfer in trouble. NCI had visual, and were given permission to speak to ILB and give position of casualty. ILB went to position and picked up Kite, but owner on beach as kite, had drifted out on its own. RNLI Yes Yes

42853 29/07/2022 NCI Fleetwood HMCG phoned NCI re. report from MOP concerning 2 kayakers. Visual search requested - negative, but had been seen with no concern. NCI informed CG a vessel was in area, who reported the kayakers , were not causing any concern. MCA/HMCG No Yes

42931 29/07/2022 NCI Lyme Bay NCI observed cabin cruiser, 5 POB and towing donut with 2 children aboard acting irresponsibly, close to yacht, close to swimmers, and through a pod of dolphins. MOP expressed concern to NCI., HMCG informed, logged incident, advised NCI inform harbour master. HM informed NCI later the owner had been interviewed, CG informed. NCI No Yes
42900 28/07/2022 NCI Needles Pan Pan from motor vessel with engine failure, anchor deployed. NCI informed HMCG they had visual. Yacht stood by and AWLB tasked and effected tow back to port. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes

42841 28/07/2022 NCI Rame Head NCI observed a large amount of smoke from cliff top fire. HMCG advised, and contacted Fire service. Fire service already aware so NFA by NCI. NCI No Yes
42850 28/07/2022 NCI Porthcawl Police contacted NCI re. report by MOP of person walking into sea. Search carried out, HMCG also involved. CRT and ILBs tasked, nothing seen. Person found to be fisherman who had fallen off rocks., Casualty safe and well. Police Yes Yes
42855 28/07/2022 NCI Torbay Pan Pan from motor vessel out of fuel near rock. Vessel then restarted and made way to harbour. NCI monitored and reported to HMCG. MCA/HMCG No Yes
42856 28/07/2022 NCI Torbay Pan Pan from motor vessel with skipper violently ill, and drifting. NCI had visual, HMCG informed. A yacht launched a RIB and responded. Casualty towed to harbour by other vessel. MCA/HMCG No Yes

42837 27/07/2022 NCI St Agnes Head HMCG requested NCI look for a missing girl. Visual search of coast path carried out. CRT team visited station. casualty later found by Police in village. Safe and well. MCA/HMCG No Yes
42812 26/07/2022 NCI Torbay HMCG tasked AWLB to yacht taking on water. NCI informed CG they had visual. LB and Harbour Master vessel on scene, and towed casualty to harbour and safety. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
42813 26/07/2022 NCI Charmouth MOP reported to NCI a child was missing. HMCG informed. Police also phoned. CRT tasked and child found safe and well. NCI No Yes
42825 26/07/2022 NCI Porthcawl NCI contacted HMCG re. 4+ MOP trying to ford river in dangerous conditions. NCI monitored situation, LGs contacted by CG, used loudhailer to warn them, and advised to cross at safe place. NCI No Yes
42911 26/07/2022 NCI Gosport Pan Pan from yacht with engine failure. Tow requested. NCI contacted HMCG as position did not correspond, not identifiable by NCI. Second yacht undertook tow. Pan Pan cancelled. All safe MCA/HMCG No Yes
42801 25/07/2022 NCI Exmouth HMCG and NCI called by paddle boarder injured on beach. NCI advised CG they had visual. Casualty did not appear in danger and confirmed they had called an ambulance. NCI No Yes
42795 25/07/2022 NCI Lyme Bay MOP rep[orted to NCI a lady had fallen on beach. and ambulance had been called. HMCG informed. Ambulance x 2, HELO and CRT on scene, casualty tranferred to hospital. NCI No Yes

42786 24/07/2022 NCI Porthdinllaen NCI observed jetski capsize, 2 persons in water. HMCG informed, ILB tasked, recovered 2 casualties. Unmanned jetski drifted, and call to 'All Stations' to recover. NCI Yes Yes
42757 23/07/2022 NCI Llandudno MOP reported to HMCG 2 persons wading across channel in deep water. NCI requested to check. Not distressed, but no lifejackets or High Viz clothing. Warning issued to vessels. , One hour later, they crossed onto beach and NCI lost visual. ILB and vessel waiting for tide had been warned about them. MCA/HMCG No Yes
42760 23/07/2022 NCI Stone Point HMCG called NCI re. dismasted yacht after 999 call. Search revealed RIB matching description, so mistaken identity, but vessel was drifting. LB tasked. 42770 23/07/2022 NCI Bass Point NCI received DSC alert from Personal Locator Beacon. HMCG informed. Vessel identified, sailing erratically, unable to contact. Assumed alert was beacon lost overboard. NCI No Yes
42796 23/07/2022 NCI Porthcawl MOP reported to NCI a despondent person was trying to access pier head. MOP diesel;led ((( to Police and HMCG. NCI had visual. Police, CRT and LB tasked. W/K and MOP talked with casualty ., Police escorted casualty to police vehicle, assets stood down. NCI Yes Yes
42738 21/07/2022 NCI Llandudno 2 horses broke loose, and swam across channel to other side of estuary. HMCG requested visual from NCI. CRT and Police attended, caught horses, uninjured, and awaited owners with horse box. Fire No Yes

42944 21/07/2022 NCI Folkestone MOP reported that a group of children had removed lifebuoy and were playing with it on beach. HMCG advised, CRT tasked. Culprits replaced buoy and departed, CG advised. Council to check equipment. NCI No Yes

42744 19/07/2022 NCI Hengistbury Head MOP informed NCI they was a lady, very distressed, looking for her mother who had left a suicide note. NCI had visual on lady. HMCG advised. Lady gave W/Ks more information, and returned home., Police involved, HELO visible. Police did not require assistance from CG or NCI, NFA. NCI No Yes
42782 19/07/2022 NCI Shoreham Catamaran capsized close to harbour mouth. RIB assisted to right casualty, which then was blown to beach. 2 crew on RIB. IFV stood by to assist. HMCG informed. 2 crew taken to slip to recover vessel. NCI No Yes
42695 18/07/2022 NCI Prawle Point Vessel with engine failure called NCI on Ch65. NCI informed them they should call HMCG on Ch16, but nothing heard. NCI called CG to inform them of problem. ILB tasked and towed casualty to safety. NCI Yes Yes
