During 2020 all NCI stations closed for two months at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. On re-opening most stations were single-crewed for the rest of the year.


Please note: NCI Canvey Island was previously know as NCI Holehaven and moved location on Monday 18 October 2021. All NCI Canvey Island Incident Summaries before that date will be in respect of NCI Holehaven at its previous location.

53989 07/07/2025 NCI Needles NCI observed an upturned kayak, HMCG informed. ILB tasked, and conned to kayak by NCI. LB found kayak, no person seen. Kayak was retrieved by LB. NCI Yes Yes
53991 06/07/2025 NCI Southend NCI called HMCG expressing concern for a lone walker on mudflats with incoming tide. NCI monitored casualty, CRT tasked, and met casualty as he returned. NFA NCI No Yes
53976 06/07/2025 NCI Torbay Pan Pan issued by dive boat, 5 POB, engine failure. NCI informed CG they had visual. Several vessels responded, and a yacht towed casualty back to harbour. MCA/HMCG No Yes
54033 06/07/2025 NCI Nare Point HMCG called NCI re. report of small boat behaving suspiciously. NCO located a small inflatable, 4 POB, circling a buoy. CG asked NCI to monitor. Party looked like a possible dive group, nothing , suspicious. NFA. MCA/HMCG No Yes
54034 06/07/2025 NCI Nare Point HMCG called on Ch16 to any vessel close to beach on river. NCI searched beach, nothing seen of concern, CG informed. Report had been of a paddle board in difficulty. All visible seemed fine, CG, informed. NFA. MCA/HMCG No Yes
53967 05/07/2025 NCI Torbay Vessel contacted harbour master to advise they were tangled in scallop beds. Pan Pan suggested, NCI asked if they had visual - affirmative. No Pan Pan issued. NCI informed HMCG. NCI then observed , the casualty vessel to have freed itself. CG updated, NFA. NCI No Yes
53973 05/07/2025 NCI Swanage HMCG called NCI asking to monitor progress of yacht. Crew member unwell. Vessel located, CG updated. vessel then radioed CG to say they were entering harbour, NFA. MCA/HMCG No Yes
53954 04/07/2025 NCI Lee-on-the-Solent NCI observed a small angling vessel manoeuvring with paddles, being unable to start engine. Vessel was drifting towards danger. HMCG informed, W/K called to casualties and encouraged them to paddle , ashore, which they managed. CG updated, NFA. NCI No Yes
53956 04/07/2025 NCI Bembridge NCI observed a yacht aground, HMCG informed. CG informed NCI that RNLI were aware. ILB tasked, and placed an anchor offshore. Sails taken down. Crew happy to stay on board to refit at high tide. , NCI asked to monitor. NCI Yes Yes
53958 04/07/2025 NCI Prawle Point NCI observed a small inflatable, 1 POB, unable to start outboard, and having difficulty rowing. HMCG informed, W/K left station to monitor casualty. ILB tasked, and recovered casualty to harbour. NCI Yes Yes
53964 04/07/2025 NCI Folkestone Harbour Board called NCI re. person in an inflatable drifting offshore. NCI established visual, and casualty was by then in the water, away from his dinghy. HMCG informed of situation. Casualty swam , and reached the beach, unharmed. He declined further assistance. ILB had been tasked and commenced search for inflatable, which had drifted on the wind. 53966 04/07/2025 NCI Canvey Island HMCG called NCI re. report of 2 groups of people in danger of being cut off by tide. Search revealed nothing, CRT joined search from lookout. Again nothing seen, assets stood down . MCA/HMCG No Yes
53939 03/07/2025 NCI Charmouth Vessel reported to be broken down, Comms with HMCG difficult, so NCI relayed position. Pan Pan and DSC urgency message issued. ILB tasked, HELO on scene to guide LB to casualty. Vessel towed to safety, by LB. Pan Pan cancelled. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
53951 03/07/2025 NCI Hengistbury Head MOP informed NCI of a missing paddle boarder, not returned on time. NCI started search, and identified likely sighting. HMCG advised, and asked NCI to monitor. Casualty then made it back to beach, CG updated. NCI No Yes
53943 02/07/2025 NCI Shoreham HMCG called NCI re. unidentified object in water. NCI identified a black suspect oil drum. ILB tasked to investigate and found object that NCI had seen. No issue identified. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
54243 02/07/2025 NCI Padstow NCI observed a small catamaran, 2 POB capsize in waist deep water. Crew unable to right vessel, NCI called harbour master. MOP had called HMCG, and NCI informed CG the vessel had been righted. , NFA. NCI No Yes
54032 02/07/2025 NCI Nare Point HMCG called ILB re. small motor vessel, 2POB, with engine problem. NCI located casualty , and informed CG of location. Casualty then restarted engine, and ILB escorted them safely to base. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
53930 02/07/2025 NCI Charlestown HMCG called NCI re. call from MOP of 2 paddle boarders waving arms. NCI located casualties, who were heading for the shore. ILB tasked. A jetski went to assist until LB arrived. LB took casualties, , and jetski towed boards back to beach. All safe. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
53931 02/07/2025 NCI Needles MOP informed NCI they had found a suspected unexploded device while metal detecting. Police had been informed. NCI informed HMCG, who said to inform Police (they had already been informed). , Land was National Trust, who were informed. Police arrived, and were left to deal with incident. 53937 01/07/2025 NCI Nells Point HMCG called LGs on Ch0 re. swimmer in difficulty. NCI called CG to say they had visual. CRT tasked, NCI asked to monitor. ILB tasked, but swimmer refused help. AWLB tasked, and casualty , was escorted to the beach, CRT in attendance. NFA. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
53913 01/07/2025 NCI Charlestown HMCG reported a MOP stuck on cliff face, CRT en route. CRT coordinated rescue from NCI lookout. ILB recovered casualty to beach - all safe. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
53917 01/07/2025 NCI Calshot Tower NCI informed HMCG 2 persons had fallen from jetski and unable to remount. Second jetski attended, NCI asked to monitor. Casualties were then recovered, with their jetski, aided by extra person on , second jetski. No injuries. NCI No Yes
53922 01/07/2025 NCI Shoreham NCI received a call that a jetski had lost power. Rider had called HMCG, CG requested NCI search. Nothing seen. Marina then called to say jetski had been towed back to marina. NFA. NCI No Yes
53890 30/06/2025 NCI Swanage NCI observed a person on a jetski waving. 1 person in the water. HMCG informed, ILB tasked, recovered jetski and 2 casualties. Jetski had engine failure. NCI Yes Yes
53916 30/06/2025 NCI Porthcawl HMCG called LGs re. MISPER and CRT tasked. NCI offered to aid search with cameras. Police then arrived at lookout with casualty, CG updated. MISPER reunited with carer. MCA/HMCG No Yes
53879 29/06/2025 NCI Lee-on-the-Solent MOP informed NCI a paddle boarder was in difficulty, HMCG aware. NCI established visual, and casualty seemed fine. CG issued May Day, LB tasked. NCI informed CG casualty was not in difficulty, and had come ashore. May Day cancelled, assets stood down. Casualty was advised by NCI that waving could be misunderstood. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
53880 29/06/2025 NCI Folkestone Concern was expressed for yacht aground on rocks. Vessel was a solo round Britain sailor. HMCG aware. CCTV showed sailor preparing to refloat yacht, CRT and ILB on scene. casualty then refloated, and carried on its passage. NCI Yes Yes
53891 29/06/2025 NCI Newhaven HMCG called NCI re. distress beacon activated from vessel. Search requested. NCI identified vessel, CG issued Mayday, AWLB tasked. and ascertained it was a false activation. NFA. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
53892 29/06/2025 NCI Nells Point NCI observed a MOP asleep on beach, with incoming tide. HMCG informed, W/K went to speak to person, with no response. After second attempt casualty walked to safety. RNLI crew spoke to casualty, but , unwilling to accept advice. NFA. NCI No Yes
53915 29/06/2025 NCI Porthcawl NCI observed a jetski with engine trouble, drifting. HMCG informed, ILB tasked, NCI monitored situation. Jetski rider informed LB there was no problem, he was waiting for tide to access a beach. NFA NCI Yes Yes
53871 29/06/2025 NCI Brancaster NCI observed 4 MOP and 2 dogs stranded on island by incoming tide. HMCG informed, CRT and Hovercraft tasked. Casualties tried to swim, and were recovered by Hovercraft to the beach. NCI Yes Yes
53881 28/06/2025 NCI Cleethorpes MOP reported to NCI a collapsed MOP close to station, but out of view. W/K went to casualty, who was on prescription drugs and was struggling in the heat. HMCG CRT team attended, and paramedics , called ambulance. Casualty was treated for heat related illness. NCI No Yes
53885 28/06/2025 NCI Wells-next-the-Sea MOP reported to NCI he had lost his child. HMCG informed, advised contact Police. Police attended lookout, confirmed details, Mother contacted and family were reunited. NCI No Yes
53886 28/06/2025 NCI Wells-next-the-Sea MOP informed NCI they had found belongings on beach, no apparent owner. HMCG informed, CRT collected items, and left to check area. Outcome unknown. NCI No Yes
53888 28/06/2025 NCI Filey NCI observed a child on an inflatable unable to return to beach. HMCG informed, LGs deployed and recovered casualty. NCI No Yes
53865 28/06/2025 NCI Cleethorpes HMCG reported a lost child on Ch0. NCI commenced search, CRT attended lookout, asked for search but already under way. CRT then had a message that child had been found. NFA. MCA/HMCG No Yes
53866 28/06/2025 NCI Southend NCI reported to HMCG 3 paddle boarders were caught up in a boom, 40 mtrs offshore. 2 MOP swam out to casualties and assisted their recovery to beach. All safe, CG updated. NFA NCI No Yes
53870 28/06/2025 NCI Mablethorpe HMCG called NCI requesting a search for 2 paddle boards, 3 POB. LB tasked, Pan Pan issued. LB requested HELO. Casualties were found safe and well. NFA. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
