During 2020 all NCI stations closed for two months at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. On re-opening most stations were single-crewed for the rest of the year.


Please note: NCI Canvey Island was previously know as NCI Holehaven and moved location on Monday 18 October 2021. All NCI Canvey Island Incident Summaries before that date will be in respect of NCI Holehaven at its previous location.

42586 10/07/2022 NCI Teignmouth MOP reported to NCI a rapidly spreading fire on beach, persons nearby. HMCG informed, ILB, AWLB and CRT tasked, people evacuated from beach safely. Source of fire unknown. NCI Yes Yes

42606 10/07/2022 NCI Porthcawl HMCG contacted NCI re. report from MOP of swimmer in difficulty. Extensive search by NCI revealed nothing, and MOP reported swimmer to be out of water and safe. MCA/HMCG No Yes

42572 10/07/2022 NCI Prawle Point Off duty W/K found MOP with broken ankle on beach. HMCG informed, Ambulance, HELO, AWLB, and ILB all tasked, casualty brought ashore by ILB and transferred to HELO and to hospital. NCI No Yes
42576 10/07/2022 NCI Porthdinllaen HMCG asked NCI for visual on 3 children in 2 kayaks. Sudden sea fret had reduced visibility to 100 mars, so no visual. LB tasked, and reported all had made way to shore and were safe. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
42579 09/07/2022 NCI Nells Point HMCG phoned NCI re. call from MOP concerned about 2 paddle boarders. NCI already had them under observation. NCI monitored them and informed cg that one appeared to be tiring, visual soon lost., ILB tasked, and NCI later informed the casualties had safely reached safety further up the coast. 42553 08/07/2022 NCI Prawle Point Pan Pan issued from fishing vessel with fouled propellor. NCI advised HMCG they had visual. Other fishing vessel offered a tow, and NCI monitored both vessels enter harbour and safety. MCA/HMCG No Yes

42498 04/07/2022 NCI Nells Point HMCG called NCI re. report from MOP of kayaker in difficulty. CG advised they did not have a clear view. All vessel alert issued, NCI reported vessel in vicinity. 42479 03/07/2022 NCI Prawle Point Yacht lost steering south of Salcombe. NCI had visual, HMCG informed and given position. AWLB tasked, and took casualty under tow to safety. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
42484 03/07/2022 NCI Nells Point Cabin Cruiser reported out of fuel. NCI informed HMCG they had visual. Local FB offered assistance, and ILB tasked. Casualty secured to buoy for later recovery by larger vessel. POB refused rescue. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
42512 03/07/2022 NCI Canvey Island Local Authority officer reported to NCI a jetski had launched from a beach adjacent to children's play area. This was illegal, so NCI informed PLA. No assets were available to intervene, so HMCG were , informed. CG asked if NCI had visual, - negative. SM was informed and he visited site and confirmed illegal activity. CG informed, but they had no authority to deal with incident. NCI No Yes
42536 03/07/2022 NCI Felixstowe NCI observed an empty dinghy adrift, no POB. HMCG informed. 2 yachts asked to recover, but too close to shore. Local rescue craft asked to recover but dinghy came ashore. CRT to recover later. MMO No Yes
42961 03/07/2022 NCI Nare Point NCI observed a yacht had snagged fishing buoy and was having difficulty. Close to rocks and in danger. HMCG informed. Casualty managed to free itself, CG informed, NFA NCI No Yes
42962 03/07/2022 NCI Nare Point HMCG called NCI re. vessel aground, visual requested. Small vessel with 1 POB had fouled pot line. NCI advised CG that a cabin cruiser was assisting, no danger to life. NCI advised CG that casualty, was under tow by Cabin Cruiser as engine was incapacitated. MCA/HMCG No Yes
42482 02/07/2022 NCI Froward Point Cabin Cruiser called harbour authorities to report loss of power. NCI advised HMCG they had visual. casualty dropped anchor, and was then towed to harbour by harbour authority MCA/HMCG No Yes
42473 02/07/2022 NCI Worms Head 2 MOP observed stranded on island. Siren deployed to warn them to stay on island. HMCG informed, Casualties continued to try to cross, Siren redeployed. NCI emphasised need to rescue casualties., CRT and ILB tasked, recovered casualties to safety. NCI Yes Yes
42477 02/07/2022 NCI Porthcawl NCI observed 2 or 3 MOP potentially cut off by tide. HMCG informed, NCI continued to monitor, and ILB x 2 tasked. 2 casualties observed climbing across rocks, ILBs checked for others stranded. , It was confirmed that no others were cut off, assets stood down. 42453 01/07/2022 NCI Hengistbury Head MOP reported to NCI a dog over the cliff. Located halfway down cliff, HMCG informed. CRT tasked, and they rescued dod and reunited it with its owner. NCI No Yes
42460 01/07/2022 NCI Newhaven Yacht reported to HMCG engine failure. NCI asked to monitor vessel, which progressed under sail. Vessel entered harbour and moored safely. MCA/HMCG No Yes
42434 30/06/2022 NCI Brancaster NCI asked to search for vulnerable person by Police. Police attended lookout, and searched beach. Casualty located, found to not at risk, and released with no further action. Police No Yes

42452 30/06/2022 NCI Canvey Island HMCG asked if NCI had seen a RIB in difficulty, reported by MOP. NCI had logged a RIB matching description, not in difficulty, but acting irresponsibly. Monitoring continued until out of sight. MCA/HMCG No Yes

42427 29/06/2022 NCI Skegness MOP reported to NCI a yellow buoy drifting. HMCG informed, and requested NCI monitor. Owner established, and were informed, and arranged recovery. NCI No Yes
42431 29/06/2022 NCI Porthdinllaen NCI observed speedboat broken down. HMCG informed, unable to contact casualty. CG contacted nearby fishing vessel, which NCI conned onto casualty. Casualty towed back to port. All safe. NCI No Yes
