During 2020 all NCI stations closed for two months at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. On re-opening most stations were single-crewed for the rest of the year.


Please note: NCI Canvey Island was previously know as NCI Holehaven and moved location on Monday 18 October 2021. All NCI Canvey Island Incident Summaries before that date will be in respect of NCI Holehaven at its previous location.

57213 29/05/2026 NCI Worms Head NCI observed 2 MOP cut off by tide. HMCG informed. CRT and ILB tasked, and LB recovered casualties to shore. NCI Yes Yes
57215 29/05/2026 NCI Swanage Vessel informed NCI a yacht had run aground, and had been advised to deploy anchor. HMCG informed. Casualty contacted CG to say they had no injuries, and would wait for the tide to refloat. NCI No Yes
57195 28/05/2026 NCI Boscastle NCI observed 2 kayaks struggling to make headway. One adult and one child, both wearing buoyancy aids. HMCG informed, as childs Kayak had capsized and child unable to get back in. The kayak drifted , away, the child laid across other kayak, which also capsized. Adult righted kayak, and got back in, but could not make any headway. ILB tasked, kayak with adult on board still in view, but no sign of , the child. MOP on rocks appeared to be involved and on his phone. ILB recovered both casualties to harbour, and then recovered both kayaks, having been conned to them by NCI. NCI Yes Yes
57232 28/05/2026 NCI Calshot Tower NCI observed 1 adults and 4 children, all wearing lifejackets, on a paddle board stuck in the mud. HMCG informed. CRT, ILB and Fire Service tasked to attend. All casualties were. recovered to safety. NCI Yes Yes
57197 28/05/2026 NCI Needles HMCG called NCI requesting visual on a kayaker reported to be in difficulty.NCI located kayak, ILB tasked and confirmed kayaker was fine, NFA. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
57198 28/05/2026 NCI Charmouth CRT, Ambulance and CG HELO were tasked by HMCG to a MOP who had called from a cliff. NCI offered a landing zone by lookout, but it landed closer to casualty. HELO recovered casualty and , transferred them to hospital. MCA/HMCG No Yes
57206 28/05/2026 NCI Brancaster NCI observed a paddle boarder go out with a strong offshore breeze, and struggling to return. HMCG informed, casualty making no headway. AWLB, ILB and CRT tasked, as casualty was distressed. , ILB recovered casualty to shore, CRT checked them over. NCI No Yes
57210 28/05/2026 NCI Gwennap Head Climber reported to NCI a fellow climber had fallen while climbing a cliff. Casualty was finding walking painful. HMCG informed, CRT tasked, and met at NCI lookout. HELO ambulance was tasked, and , evacuated casualty to hospital. NCI No Yes

57259 28/05/2026 NCI Wells-next-the-Sea NCI observed 5 young adults crossing the channel after warning siren. 2 swam to safety, others attracted attention, HMCG informed. ILB tasked, however the 3 reached safety. A sixth person was spotted, unaware of the incoming tide, and ILB relaunched and did a step before returning to shore. NCI No Yes
57212 28/05/2026 NCI Exmouth Police requested NCI search for a person reported missing. NCI conveyed request to LGs. Nothing was seen or heard by the time NCI closed. Police No Yes
57222 28/05/2026 NCI Shoreham While on beach patrol, NCI found 2 large Nitrous Oxide Lannister's, which were taken to the lookout. Police informed, who advised to contact Council, for collection. NCI No No
57227 28/05/2026 NCI Porthcawl NCI heard HMCG and CRT discussing a MISPER. NCI offered to search area with Binos and CCTV. Nothing seen, then casualty was reported to have been found, safe and well. MCA/HMCG No Yes
57228 28/05/2026 NCI Porthcawl NCI informed HMCG of concern for climbers on point, did not appear to be making progress. Monitoring requested. ILB tasked, contacted climbers, and were advised of an alternative route. Climbers , completed climb, assets stood down. NCI Yes Yes

57183 26/05/2026 NCI Porthcawl NCI observed multiple persons trying to cross river mouth. HMCG informed, ILB and CRT tasked. NCI monitored by camera. LB advised CG there were 100 plus people trying to cross, evacuation plan, needed. CRT escorted casualties to a bridge to cross the estuary, 30 - 40 minutes away. LB and NCI stood down. 57188 26/05/2026 NCI Porthcawl NCI observed 2 persons on an inflatable paddle board, falling off board with the tide ebbing. W/K used hailer to alert them to danger, and HMCG were informed., monitoring requested. After contacting , casualties, they returned to shore, thankful for the warning by NCI. All safe, CG updated. 57196 25/05/2026 NCI Hornsea NCI observed 2 people on a motorbike riding among crowds on the promenade. Police were informed, and deployed to scene. NCI No No

57172 25/05/2026 NCI Filey MOP informed NCI there was a lost child on the beach, mother was frantic. HMCG informed, CRT tasked. After extensive search, child was found, assets stood down. NCI No Yes
57175 25/05/2026 NCI Southend CRT asked NCI to search with camera for a missing child. casualty was located by pubic toilets, CRT informed, and confirmed it was the MISPER. MCA/HMCG No Yes
57176 25/05/2026 NCI Newhaven HMCG called NCI re. report from MOP of an unattended paddle board. Visual requested, nothing seen, and continued monitoring requested until lookout closed. MCA/HMCG No Yes
57156 24/05/2026 NCI Hengistbury Head HMCG called NCI asking for visual on a vessel, possibly stolen. Pan Pan issued. CG then confirmed no further action was required. MCA/HMCG No Yes
57164 24/05/2026 NCI Portland Bill Hotel called NCI re. a paddle board with 4 POB possibly getting stuck in the mud. HMCG advised. Hotel then called to say the casualties were out of sight. Incident was closed as no further sightings , were made. NCI No Yes
57167 24/05/2026 NCI Portland Bill HMCG received a partial 999 call from MOP but last part of message lost. CG asked NCI to do a visual sweep, nothing seen. NFA. MCA/HMCG No Yes
57153 24/05/2026 NCI Shoreham HMCG called NCI re. report from MOP of an object in the water, visual requested. NCI reported object appeared to be a piece of wood. 57158 23/05/2026 NCI Froward Point HMCG called NCI asking them to look out for a paddle boarder, who had left beach two hours earlier. casualty located, CG informed. Nearby vessel asked to investigate. A RIB recovered casualty and , returned them to safety. MCA/HMCG No Yes
57139 23/05/2026 NCI Nells Point NCI informed HMCG a person was standing in the water on the edge of the causeway. Monitoring requested. ILB tasked as it was on exercise. Person was an exoperienced fisherman, aware of the danger. , NFA NCI Yes Yes
57146 23/05/2026 NCI Llandudno NCI observed 3 MOP plus dog walking onto sandbank, with tide coming in behind them. Loudhailer used but not heard. HMCG informed, CRT tasked.Loudhailer was used again, and this time was heard and , casualties returned to shore. NCI No Yes
57147 23/05/2026 NCI Canvey Island HMCG tasked ILB following report of 6 casualties, one possibly drowning, following report on 999 to ambulance service by MOP. CRT tasked to scene. NCI inform CG they are monitoring scene. , CRT reported 2 incidents were ongoing, CG HELO found 1 person with a cut foot. After extensive search nothing else was found. Assets stood down. 57138 22/05/2026 NCI Southend HMCG called NCI asking to look out for a vulnerable person walking close to lookout. Nothing seen, CRT attended lookout. Extensive search revealed nothing - inconclusive outcome. MCA/HMCG No Yes
57140 22/05/2026 NCI Lee-on-the-Solent A child arrived at NCI, having lost their mother. W/K tried phoning mother - no response. Mother was located, correctly gave Childs details, and was reunited with child. NCI No No
57157 21/05/2026 NCI Teignmouth HMCG issued a May Day re. a vessel on fire. Fishing vessels nearby responded. CG asked NCI for visual, nothing visible. Nearby vessels confirmed there was no vessel on fire. It transpired it was a F.V, starting engines, and smoke was mistaken by MOP as a fire. MCA/HMCG No Yes
57133 21/05/2026 NCI Bass Point HMCG called NCI asking for visual on a yacht with a medical emergency on board. NCI did not have visual due to bad visibility, full weather conditions supplied. AWLB tasked, located vessel, took , casualty on board, and returned to station to meet ambulance. 2 LB crew took yacht back to harbour. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
