During 2020 all NCI stations closed for two months at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. On re-opening most stations were single-crewed for the rest of the year.


Please note: NCI Canvey Island was previously know as NCI Holehaven and moved location on Monday 18 October 2021. All NCI Canvey Island Incident Summaries before that date will be in respect of NCI Holehaven at its previous location.

58178 06/08/2026 NCI Folkestone NCI observed 5 people trespassing on the East Pier, HMCG and Harbour authority informed. Persons then left the pier without entering the water. NCI No Yes
58182 06/08/2026 NCI Newhaven NCI observed 2 youths climb barrier and damage safety signs. Police advised by 999. The offenders then left, offence recorded on camera. Footage given to Police, and offenders were located by police -, investigation ongoing. NCI No No

58170 05/08/2026 NCI Portscatho NCI observed an adult male in an inflatable toy dinghy being blown out of control towards rocks. HMCG informed, monitoring requested. Dinghy reached rocks, and occupant clambered over rocks, , and managed to reach the beach, with the dinghy. CG updated. NCI No Yes
58161 04/08/2026 NCI Folkestone NCI observed 10 tombstones on pier, harbour authority and HMCG advised, monitoring requested. Security staff attended, and they left the area. CG updated. NCI No Yes
58164 04/08/2026 NCI Felixstowe HMCG called NCI re. report of 2 children being carried out to sea in an inflatable - visual requested. NCI confirmed visual, ILB tasked, pilot boats assisting. Casualties were then reported to have , made it back to shore. Assets stood down. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
58168 04/08/2026 NCI Nells Point NCI observed 2 paddle boarders in difficulty, 2 on each board. First board reached shore with one occupant swimming. Second board unable to move, HMCG informed. Local LGs were tasked and , recovered casualties and board with a jetski. NCI No Yes
58214 04/08/2026 NCI Hornsea NCI assisted in search for a missing boy, reported as being in the water. May Day issued. This followed a report to HMCG by a MOP of a motionless child in the water. Replay of the CCTV showed a , youth walking along the groins. Police, Ambulance, CRT, ILB and HELO involved in search. A body was later recovered, having been trapped under groins. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
58175 04/08/2026 NCI Fleetwood Pan Pan was heard by NCI, no detail as message lost to static. HMCG informed. CG asked all stations if they had heard message, ILB also asked as they were in area. All response was negative. , Incident closed as no further contact was made. NCI No Yes
58149 04/08/2026 NCI Calshot Tower Motor vessel issued a May Day re. engine fire. HMCG called NCI, who had visual, monitoring requested. 3 vessel attended, and casualty was towed to port by rescue vessel. MCA/HMCG No Yes
58136 03/08/2026 NCI Wooltack Point HMCG requested help for a RIB with no power. One vessel responded, AWLB tasked. NCI informed CG they had visual. LB conned to casualty by NCI, and towed casualty to marina. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
58139 03/08/2026 NCI Exmouth NCI observed a kayak, 2 POB, capsize, occupants attempting to reboard. LGs advised, PVC used to recover casualties. HMCG advised. NCI No Yes
58145 03/08/2026 NCI Folkestone NCI informed Harbour authority of 3 MOP on Pier, also HMCG informed. NCI asked to report if they started tombstoning. Intruders let the pier, 3 others briefly entered pier, then left. NCI No Yes
58150 03/08/2026 NCI St Agnes Head HMCG called NCI re. a kayak, 2 POB and possibly a dog, which had not been seen returning to beach. Search requested. NCI observed several kayaks which could match the description, but unable to , confirm identity due to visibility. Casualty was then reported to be safe and sound, assets stood down. MCA/HMCG No Yes
58118 02/08/2026 NCI Lee-on-the-Solent Police attended NCI to advise of a missing person, possibly at risk. Search requested, visual and CCTV. CRT attended, tasked by HMCG, and continued search. Nothing found when station closed. Police No Yes
581109 02/08/2026 NCI Shoreham NCI observed a fisherman fall from a kayak. HMCG informed, AWLB tasked. A passing yacht recovered casualty, and LB recovered kayak. All safe and ashore. NCI Yes Yes
58123 02/08/2026 NCI Swanage NCI advised HMCG a jetski had broken down, with a second jetski in attendance. Monitoring requested. Casualty was towed by second jetski, last seen proceeding to safety of harbour. NCI No Yes
58125 02/08/2026 NCI Folkestone NCI observed 2 boys on wrong side of fence o Quay Harbour authority and HMCG informed. Harbour security spoke with boys, NCI No Yes
58129 02/08/2026 NCI Porthcawl HMCG advised NCI 2 MOP were cut off by tide. Station stayed open after normal closing time. ILB tasked, and made several attempts to recover casualties from rocks. 58141 02/08/2026 NCI St Alban's Head Yacht had a net around the propeller, HMCG asked NCI for visual - negative but W/K walked for a better view. Second yacht, and marine Police vessel both went to assist. NCI established visual, and , were then updated by Police vessel that the casualty was free, and making way. NCI confirmed visual. 58099 01/08/2026 NCI Canvey Island NCI called HMCG re. 3 paddle boarders stranded on sand bank, unable to get to deep water due to fatigue. Monitoring requested. CRT tasked, and assisted casualties to dry land. CG updated. NCI No Yes
58103 01/08/2026 NCI Gosport May Day issued re. vessel on fire, person on board abandoned ship, wearing lifejacket. Reporting vessel trying to recover casualty. NCI gave HMCG exact location. Yacht recovered casualty, who was fine, Casualty vessel had diesel, propane and flares on board, vessels advised to keep clear. Fire crews attended, as vessel had been run onto beach, vessel was a total loss. No casualties. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes

58140 01/08/2026 NCI Mablethorpe MOP reported to NCI her dog was injured, and asked for help. HMCG informed, CRT tasked. NCI gave CRT location, and they, with help of Police, recovered dog and owner. NCI No Yes
58092 31/07/2026 NCI Bembridge NCI observed a small sports boat, 3 POB, no lifejackets, which appeared to have engine trouble. Casualty flagged down a passing RIB. NCI informed HMCG of concern, as casualty was drifting into the , path of a ferry. CG alerted ferry to danger. RIB then undertook a tow, and vessels were lost to view. CG updated. NCI No Yes
58080 30/07/2026 NCI Worms Head NCI observed 2 MOP on island after causeway was closed. HMCG informed. CRT and ILB tasked. NCI called casualties and advised to stay on island. One casualty was staying on island, other one was , recovered by LB and returned to shore. NCI Yes Yes
58084 30/07/2026 NCI Hengistbury Head HMCG called NCI re. report from MOP of 3 bodyboarders lost from view, visual requested - negative. CRT then reported the casualties were located onshore. NFA. MCA/HMCG No Yes
58085 30/07/2026 NCI Charmouth MOP informed NCI a person had fallen in the car park, and had a suspected broken ankle. W/K investigated, and was told an ambulance had been called. HMCG informed, but CRT already deployed, elsewhere. NCI phoned local GP for advice, but no-one available. Casualty was taken to hospital by parents, CG updated. NCI No Yes
58051 29/07/2026 NCI Shoreham MOP called NCI re. upturned boat, 1 person had swum ashore, 2 possibly in the water. NCI informed HMCG, vessel not visible to NCI. CG reported all casualties were okay, NFA. NCI No Yes
58055 29/07/2026 NCI Brancaster MOP called NCI re. a missing child. Initial search carried out, HMCG informed, CRT tasked. Search revealed a child answering the description, in the company of two adults. Identity confirmed, CG , updated, assets stood down NCI No Yes
58056 29/07/2026 NCI Torbay May Day was issued from a sinking jetski. Nearby vessel offered to assist, NCI informed HMCG they had visual. Casualty and jetski were rescued by vessel, CG updated, May Day cancelled. MCA/HMCG No Yes
58057 29/07/2026 NCI Torbay MOP called NCI re. a paddle boarder in difficulty. NCI searched, but situation unclear. HMCG informed. After new information, NCI searched again, and saw 3 people in the water, monitoring requested., All three, and their boards, were recovered by a small vessel, CG updated. NCI No Yes
