During 2020 all NCI stations closed for two months at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. On re-opening most stations were single-crewed for the rest of the year.


Please note: NCI Canvey Island was previously know as NCI Holehaven and moved location on Monday 18 October 2021. All NCI Canvey Island Incident Summaries before that date will be in respect of NCI Holehaven at its previous location.

52859 30/03/2025 NCI Folkestone NCI observed a sloop moving slowly out of harbour, using oars, main mast lowered. Anchored but not holding. HMCG informed. F V passed close by but occupant showed no interest. Second vessel aprroached, casualty, and occupant was not in distress, and intended to beach when tide was low. CG updated. 52823 29/03/2025 NCI Hengistbury Head NCI observed a RIB hit rocks, and was then washed off but drifting. HMCG informed, and advised same vessel had previously gone aground. Vessel eventually started one engine, but appeared to have , damaged the prop. Vessel very slowly moved towards quay and tied up. CG informed that all was safe. NCI No Yes 008762
52826 29/03/2025 NCI Southend NCI observed 2 MOP on wreck of Mulberry harbour. HMCG informed. ILB tasked, and CRT informed. 2 kayakers were then seen by wreck, and a search by ILB revealed no other persons. Assets stood down NCI Yes Yes 008730
52812 29/03/2025 NCI Wells-next-the-Sea NCI observed a MOP cut off by tide. HMCG called NCI asking situation, and was told casualty was in danger. ILB tasked and recovered casualty to boathouse. NCI Yes Yes 008751

52814 29/03/2025 NCI Lee-on-the-Solent NCI observed 2 yachts, apparently out of control, one possibly towing other. HMCG informed of concern, and asked NCI to monitor. Vessels were lost to sight by NCI, and no further action was taken. NCI No Yes 008728

52817 29/03/2025 NCI Canvey Island HMCG tasked ILB following report of person in water, having fallen from a speedboat. Casualty clinging to groin was seen by NCI, CG informed. ILB recovered casualty, who had swallowed sea water and , was vomiting. Casualty was met by ambulance, and treated as they were in pain and not very responsive. 52807 28/03/2025 NCI Needles HMCG called NCI re. report from MOP of a yacht in difficulty off beach. NCI located vessel, which appeared at anchor, sails down. ILB and CRT tasked, ILB attempted tow, but due to ebbing tide, , vessel was stuck. One casualty on board was deteriorating, so CRT used dry suits to reach vessel and take casualty off. 52784 23/03/2025 NCI Shoreham Initial May Day from fishing vessel with flat battery downgraded to Pan Pan, 1 POB. HMCG asked NCI to monitor. A passing vessel initiated tow to marina, NCI monitored until safely back to marina. MCA/HMCG No Yes 008076
52781 22/03/2025 NCI Porthcawl Day boat called HMCG with engine failure, NCI informed CG they had visual. Harbour master also informed. ILB tasked, and when it arrived, the casualty vessel had started engine, so was escorted back, to marina by LB. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes 007928
52778 21/03/2025 NCI Canvey Island Bait digger reported to NCI that a buoy had become unattached. HMCG informed, and tasked CRT, who recovered buoy, made it safe for repair next day. NCI No Yes 007838
52761 19/03/2025 NCI Fleetwood NCI observed 2 MOP and 2 dogs at risk of being cut off by tide. Siren and Visual warnings issued, casualties then turned back and returned to solid ground. 52771 19/03/2025 NCI Porthcawl NCI observed 2 MOP on pier, unstable on feet. Casualties then disappeared , but one returned, worse than before. HMCG contacted, and advised contact Police. Casualty then sat on edge of pier, so W/K, walked to her and made conversation. W/K escorted casualty off pier, and was met by CRT and Police. Casualty was removed by Police. NCI No Yes 007647

52726 15/03/2025 NCI Hengistbury Head HMCG called NCI asking for search following report from MOP of a flashing light 500 mtrs offshore. Thorough search carried out, nothing seen, no vessels in area. MCA/HMCG No Yes 007276

52727 14/03/2025 NCI Swanage HMCG called NCI and requested a search for a canoe off headland. Visual search carried out, nothing seen. Canoe apparently made its way back unaided. MCA/HMCG No Yes n/a
52740 14/03/2025 NCI Porthcawl Police asked NCI if they had seen an injured MOP on the seafront. NCI conducted a search by camera., and identified casualty, paramedics in attendance. Casualty was treated on roadside, and then, taken to hospital by ambulance. Police No Yes POL551
52709 12/03/2025 NCI Filey NCI observed six MOP cut off by tide, and trying to climb around. Two further persons seen beyond the group of six. NCI informed HMCG, monitoring requested. 52708 10/03/2025 NCI Rhoscolyn MOP called NCI re. possible MISPER. Second MOP advised NCI a female had been seen sitting on cliff edge near lookout, original caller updated. Police got invloved, and a local jogger then met with , the female and engaged with her until police arrived. Casualty taken to hospital by police for checks.
