During 2020 all NCI stations closed for two months at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. On re-opening most stations were single-crewed for the rest of the year.


Please note: NCI Canvey Island was previously know as NCI Holehaven and moved location on Monday 18 October 2021. All NCI Canvey Island Incident Summaries before that date will be in respect of NCI Holehaven at its previous location.

56945 02/05/2026 NCI Brancaster NCI observed 3 MOP on sandbank with tide rapidly coming in behind them. HMCG informed. Casualties crossed channel, in waist deep water, with one on another shoulders. All safe. NCI No Yes
56954 02/05/2026 NCI Bembridge NCO observed a yacht aground, HMCG informed. A private RIB arrived to assist, and attached a line, while NCI were on phone to CG. Yacht was refloated, CG attempted to contact - negative. NCI No Yes
56977 02/05/2026 NCI Froward Point May Day call from a yacht with engine breakdown, but NCI unable to see due to poor visibility. Vessel offered to attend, then NCI established visual - CG updated. NCI monitored situation until , casualty was towed to safety of harbour. MCA/HMCG No Yes

56917 30/04/2026 NCI Exmouth MOP reported suspected unexploded ordnance in estuary to NCI. HMCH informed, photos attempted but impossible due to tide. CRT to be tasked to investigate. NCI No Yes
56933 30/04/2026 NCI Porthcawl HMCG called NCI re. a call from a person threatening self harm. Search requested, nothing seen initially, ILB and CRT tasked. ILB located casualty on rocks close to lookout. Casualty, who was , intoxicated, was reluctant to come off rocks. Police attended, and accompanied casualty to hospital. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
56914 30/04/2026 NCI Gosport NI observed an inflatable, 2 POB, drifting into main channel, HMCG and VTS informed. CG told NCI had visual. Yacht took vessel in tow, then Police boat arrived, recovered 2 POB, but left , dinghy drifting. NCI lost sight of dinghy. NCI No Yes
56971 29/04/2026 NCI Hornsea NCI called HMCG re. 2 walkers about to be cut off by tide. CG updated, casualties now totally cut off,.CRT and local Inshore rescue boat tasked. casualties then changed direction, and climbed cliff., CRT met them and offered safety advice. All safe. NCI Yes Yes

56910 29/04/2026 NCI Hengistbury Head MOP called NCI re. concern for a foil boarder. HMCG informed, monitoring requested. CG tasked CRT, ILB, HELO, and NCI stayed open while search continued. 56911 29/04/2026 NCI Nells Point HMCG called NCI re. report from MOP of 2 swimmers in difficulty. Visual requested - negative. Original caller then reported that 2 LGs on a jetski had been mistakenly identified as being in trouble, , but then realised they were training. NFA. MCA/HMCG No Yes
57010 29/04/2026 NCI Hengistbury Head NCI heard an SOS message in Morse code. HMCG advised. Pan Pan issued, CRT attended lookout. CG issued radio call asking for any info on message - nothing. Pan Pan cancelled, NFA. NCI No Yes
56886 28/04/2026 NCI St Ives NCI reported to HMCG concern for a yacht, 1 POB, heading for rocks. CG called vessel, asking intentions, was it aware of rocks. Vessel replied in affirmative, and was trying to avoid them. NCI asked , to monitor. Vessel changed course, cleared rocks, and NCI updated CG. NCI No Yes
56896 28/04/2026 NCI Newhaven HMCG called NCI re. a call from MOP concerned about a wind surfer being blown out to sea. NCI reported casualty appeared to be in difficulty. ILB tasked, NCI conned LB to casualty. LB recovered, casualty to the beach. All safe. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
56885 27/04/2026 NCI Cape Cornwall A passing yacht reported to HMCG a possible body in the water. NCI heard call, and located vessel. Passing military HELO offered assistance, ut declined. NCI asked to monitor, CG HELO and AWLB tasked., HELO recovered body, transferred it to LB, and it was returned to LB station. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
56873 26/04/2026 NCI Boscastle NCI observed items of discarded clothing on cliffs. No-one seen nearby. HMCG informed, who contacted Police. CRT tasked, and decided items were probably lost or forgotten. NFA. NCI No Yes
56875 26/04/2026 NCI Porthcawl HMCG called ILB (on exercise) re. a suspected heart attack on beach. ILB proceeded to location, HELO tasked. NCI monitored situation, and kept CG updated. CRT also in attendance. Casualty was , airlifted to an ambulance and on to hospital. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes

56894 26/04/2026 NCI Torbay NCI observed an 10 ft. object in the water, HMCG informed, and decided no action was required then. NCI passed on information to next morning watch. Object did not appear to be a danger to vessels at , the time. Next watch observed the object ashore, CRT had removed the object, a large buoy, to be collected by the council. NCI No Yes

57273 25/04/2026 NCI Wells-next-the-Sea MOP called NCI asking if they were aware of a capsized vessel, person in the water. NCI did not have visual initially. HMCG then contacted NCI, ILB tasked, recovered casualty and vessel to shore. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
56871 24/04/2026 NCI Folkestone NCI observed an upturned RIB, with person sitting on it. HMCG informed, monitoring requested. Harbour RIB approached vessel, took casualty on board, and righted RIB. CG updated. NCI No Yes
56853 24/04/2026 NCI Cape Cornwall Off duty W/K working at the lookout had a medical emergency. On duty W/K called 999 for ambulance, and informed HMCG. CRT and first responder arrived, followed by ambulance, and S.M. After , treatment, casualty was taken to hospital for treatment. CG updated. NCI No Yes
56861 24/04/2026 NCI Hengistbury Head Pan Pan issued re. motor vessel with engine failure. NCI located casualty, HMCG informe, monitoring requested. Second vessel unable to assist due to sea state. CG suggest Sea Start be contacted. , Sea Start arrived one hour later, and towed casualty to port. Pan pan cancelled. MCA/HMCG No Yes
56862 24/04/2026 NCI Portland Bill HMCG called NCI requesting search for a missing person. Rucksack and bicycle visible, CG updated. CRT, HELO, AWLB, ILB, drones, and Police all involved in search, but nothing found. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
5846 23/04/2026 NCI Polruan NCI observed a yacht, stationary on AIS, but could not find visually or on radar. HMCG informed. CG called vessel on Ch16, with initially no response, but eventually vessel reported it was safely at , its destination. NFA. NCI No Yes
56848 23/04/2026 NCI Nells Point NCI observed a strong swimmer passing lookout, but then lost sight of them. W/K did a foot patrol, and after a false alarm, spotted the swimmer. HMCG informed, and asked NCI to keep a lookout for him., No further sightings, and assumed safe. NCI No Yes
56849 23/04/2026 NCI Gosport NCI issued a MayDay relay re. a person in the water, having fallen off a jetski. Casualty was picked up by second jetski, HMCG informed, MayDay cancelled. NFA NCI No Yes
56855 23/04/2026 NCI Porthcawl HMCG called NCI re. call from Ambulance service, who had received a call from a despondent person on pier. Search revealed no persons of interest on pier, CG updated. CRT tasked, and search continued,, ambulance service attended lookout. ILB tasked to search, and reported a person seen on rocks, but not the casualty.
