During 2020 all NCI stations closed for two months at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. On re-opening most stations were single-crewed for the rest of the year.


Please note: NCI Canvey Island was previously know as NCI Holehaven and moved location on Monday 18 October 2021. All NCI Canvey Island Incident Summaries before that date will be in respect of NCI Holehaven at its previous location.

57609 25/06/2026 NCI Porthcawl HMCG issued an alert re. paddle boarders in difficulty, ILB tasked. NCI initiated search with CCTV. NCI identified casualties, and gave CG exact position. Second ILB tasked, and 12 paddle boards were , recovered in multiple trips. All safe. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
57579 25/06/2026 NCI Fleetwood NCI observed 2 walkers in danger of being cut off by the tide. HMCG informed, CRT and ILB were tasked. Casualties tried to cross to shore, but returned. ILB guided to scene, and casualties then found , a shallower channel, and reached shore to be met by CRT. Assets stood down. NCI Yes Yes

57674 24/06/2026 NCI Prawle Point HMCG asked NCI for visual on a sport boat with engine failure.Visual confirmed, location supplied. Monitoring requested. Pan Pan issued. Second boat assisted, and towed casualty to harbour. MCA/HMCG No Yes
57558 24/06/2026 NCI Felixstowe NCI observed a jet ski on a shingle spit, person sitting on spit, tide incoming. HMCG informed, monitoring requested, but no sign of distress. Jet ski then returned to the water without issues. NCI No Yes
57562 24/06/2026 NCI Polruan NCI observed a RIP apparently lost power. trying to restart engine. Occupant tried rowing without success. HMCG informed, monitoring requested. Engine was then restarted, and RIB returned to harbour. NCI No Yes
57565 24/06/2026 NCI Porthcawl NCI observed an inflatable dinghy, 3 POB, heading out to sea. NCI called HMCG expressing concern, monitoring requested. casualty drifted further out, LB crew mwember also expressed concern, ILB , was tasked. LB attended casualties, none with lifejackets, but they declined any help, despite advice. Casualties then accepted help, and were transferred to shore by LB. NCI Yes Yes
57577 24/06/2026 NCI Stone Point A yacht called NCI having run aground. HMCG informed, low tide approaching. Monitoring requested. Casualty advised CG they had water ingress, but under control. Casualty then refloated as tide rose. NCI No Yes
57547 24/06/2026 NCI Brancaster NCI observed 4 adults, 2 children and 3 dogs cut of by the incoming tide. Aldiss lamp used, acknowledged then ignored. HMCG informed, ILB and CRT tasked. . 57548 24/06/2026 NCI Hengistbury Head May Day issued re. cabin cruiser with an engine fire, radioed in by a yacht. HMCG asked NCI to monitor until LB arrived. NCI confirmed visual. 57544 23/06/2026 NCI Cleethorpes MOP reported to NCI an unresponsive person on an amusement ride close to station. HMCG informed on 999, but casualty was taken into the care of their carer, assets stood down. NCI No Yes
57545 23/06/2026 NCI St Alban's Head HMCG called NCI re. 2 spear fishermen missing. NCI could not establish visual. CG then informed of a yellow object on shore. Casualties then informed CG they were late, just enjoying fishing. Advice MCA/HMCG No Yes
57538 22/06/2026 NCI Skegness An off duty watch keeper reported a dead porpoise washed up on beach. NCI informed HMCG, with exact location. CG to investigate. NCI No Yes
57526 21/06/2026 NCI Mablethorpe HMCG tasked CRT to a MOP fallen on the beach, unable to move. NCI offered to monitor scene. CRT and ILB arrived on scene, and moved casualty away from incoming tide. Pain relief given, HELO tasked to , move casualty to a rendezvous with ambulance. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
57527 21/06/2026 NCI Swanage A yacht called NCI re. an unmanned kayaker the water. HMCG informed, but aware as owner had reported it having floated off the beach. Outcome unknown. NCI No Yes
57530 21/06/2026 NCI St Alban's Head NCI observed a dayboat , 1 POB, standing waving arms. HMCG informed. A cabin cruiser attended casualty, which had engine failure, the occupant had no radio or phone. CC to tow casualty back to port., CG updated, incident closed. NCI No Yes
57531 21/06/2026 NCI Exmouth NCI observed a mother and child fall off a paddle board and unable to recover. 2 other paddle boarders went to assist. HMCG called NCI to ask whether assistance was required. CG updated that all were , safely ashore. NCI No Yes
57532 21/06/2026 NCI Swanage A MOP reported to NCI her husband had collapsed in the NCI information room. Ambulance was requested, and a retired paramedic attended and thought it was heat stroke. The casualty then recovered, and walked to town with his wife and the paramedic. Ambulance cancelled. NCI No No
57514 20/06/2026 NCI Cleethorpes NCI observed a motorised hoverboard riding close to shipping lane and close to two yachts. HMCG informed, and said they would investigate. Rider then rode off, circled a motor cruiser several times, , then returned to shore. NCI No Yes
57539 19/06/2026 NCI Folkestone NCI observed a trail of brown water/scum coming from a sewage pipe offshore. HMCG informed, CRT tasked to investigate, and sample water. NCI No Yes
57542 19/06/2026 NCI Froward Point NCI heard a Pan Pan from a yacht with a prop entanglement. Comms were difficult due to language difficulties. NCI had logged vessel, and gave CG exact position, type of vessel, and POB. ILB tasked, , other vessels advised to avoid area. LB crew unable to disentangle prop, so towed casualty back to port, where it was disentangled, and then resumed passage. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
57504 19/06/2026 NCI Hengistbury Head HMCG called NCI re. 999 call from MOP concerning a 'small blue vessel' drifting off the beach. Visual requested. @ autonomous drones had been logged at the given position, CG updated. , It transpired both CG and NCI had been notified of this trial. MCA/HMCG No Yes
57506 19/06/2026 NCI St Donat's Bay NCI identified an unknown object on the shoreline, HMCG informed, possible ordnance. CRT tasked. CRT identified a large log. NCI No Yes
57508 19/06/2026 NCI Hengistbury Head HMCG called NCI re. jet ski with engine failure. NCI confirmed visual. ILB tasked, NCI gave exact location. LB towed jet ski back to harbour. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
57512 19/06/2026 NCI Southend NCI observed a lone swimmer in difficulty. HMCG informed bur were already aware. Position supplied. CRT tasked, and casualty was by then in distress. CRT tasked a paddle boarder to casualty, and , recovered them, but found it difficult to make headway. 2nd paddle boarder went to help, and all 3 made it to the shore. 57513 19/06/2026 NCI Shoreham NCI heard radio comms re. daybook with engine failure, 1 POB. NCI informed HMCG they had visual, and gave position. Boat was at anchor. CG asked NCI to monitor. Vessel engine then restarted, and , it got underway to harbour. NFA. MCA/HMCG No Yes
57515 18/06/2026 NCI Nells Point NCI observed an upturned dinghy, HMCG informed, monitoring requested while enquired were made. AWLB tasked, and conned to vessel by NCI. LB recovered dinghy, which had been lost a few days ago. NCI Yes Yes
57516 18/06/2026 NCI Porthcawl HMCG called NCI re. report from MOP of someone shouting for help, and May Day from a paddle board. Search commenced, CRT and ILB x 2 tasked. 57490 17/06/2026 NCI Lee-on-the-Solent NCI overheard comms re. a cabin cruiser in difficulty, and unsure of position. NCI established vessels position, vessel not making way, but no apparent distress. Monitoring by NCI continued. , HMCG issued Pan Pan, ILB tasked, and established a tout marina, CG updated. 57488 17/06/2026 NCI Gosport NCI observed a yacht, broken mast and sail in the water, in front of lookout. HMCG were informed, but already aware. 2 RIBs and Police launch offered assistance. Casualty was disentangled from buoy,, and escorted back to the marina by one of the RIBs. NCI No Yes
57491 17/06/2026 NCI Canvey Island An off duty watch keeper became ill while visiting station. Initially he was to taken to hospital by car, but after a second fall, an ambulance was called. HMCG was informed, but all being dealt with., Casualty was transferred to hospital. CG updated. NCI No Yes
57475 16/06/2026 NCI Exmouth HMCG called NCI requesting visual on a yacht, reported by MOP to be drifting. Visual established, no cause for concern, crew simply attempting to secure kayak to the stern. NFA. MCA/HMCG No Yes

57482 16/06/2026 NCI Cape Cornwall NCI received a DSC May Day alert from a motor cruiser which had broken down, HMCG informed. AWLB tasked, NCI monitored situation, LB crew un able to start engine so a tow was decided upon as , the casualty was in the TSS, with limited visibility. LB towed vessel to safety. NCI No Yes
57489 16/06/2026 NCI Lee-on-the-Solent HMCG issued a May Day re. a capsized dinghy and crew. NCI established visual, CG informed. ILB tasked, and a RN vessel offered assistance. Dinghy was righted, and proceeded to sailing club , without assistance. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
57460 15/06/2026 NCI Boscastle NCI observed 2 pedal fishing kayaks, 2 adults with flotation devices. Kayaks moved out of view, in deteriorating weather conditions. HMCG informed. Kayaks then reappeared, weather improved, and, they returned to harbour without assistance. NCI No Yes
57468 15/06/2026 NCI Minehead Police attended lookout, asking for help in searching for a vulnerable adult.Paramedics attended lookout, casualty was located, CRT and ILB tasked, casualty was taken into police custody, and then to , an ambulance. Assets stood down. Police No Yes
