During 2020 all NCI stations closed for two months at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. On re-opening most stations were single-crewed for the rest of the year.


Please note: NCI Canvey Island was previously know as NCI Holehaven and moved location on Monday 18 October 2021. All NCI Canvey Island Incident Summaries before that date will be in respect of NCI Holehaven at its previous location.

56333 22/02/2026 NCI Hengistbury Head NCI observed a wing foiler in difficulty/, kit abandoned with no-one in view. MOP also reported incident, casualty in view. HMCG informed, CRT tasked, monitoring requested. Casualty appeared to be, making progress to shore, then a second person, possibly a rescuer, was seen. CG advised. ILB tasked, but as getting ready to launch, casualty reached shore, so was stood down. CRT conformed casualty , had no injuries and needed no further assistance. 56350 22/02/2026 NCI Hornsea MOP brought 6 bullet shell cases he had found on the beach, to the station. He was advised to take them to the police. NCI No Yes
56328 21/02/2026 NCI Swanage A distress alert on Ch16 was heard, then HMCG called NCI re 2 paddle boarders in difficulty. Visual requested. AWLB tasked, and a yacht attended casualties. ILB also tasked, which arrived at scene, , and both casualties were asserted by LB. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
56329 21/02/2026 NCI Charmouth HMCG asked NCI to lookout for a vulnerable adult. A police search was ongoing. Weather report was supplied. CCTV and visual scan revealed nothing. Council official informed NCI of a person on top of , cliffs, and HELO was patrolling area. Coastal search was stood down as search moved inland. MCA/HMCG No Yes
56319 20/02/2026 NCI Exmouth HMCG reported a windsurfer in difficulty. NCI confirmed sighting, with no concern for safety, CG advised they had returned to shore. MCA/HMCG No Yes
56301 19/02/2026 NCI Felixstowe MOP informed NCI a paddle boarder seemed in difficulty. HMCG had been informed, CRT and LB tasked. NCI had visual of casualty, who self rescued and made it to the shore safely. NCI Yes Yes
56298 18/02/2026 NCI Canvey Island NCI overheard radio traffic re. a kite surfer in difficulty. NCI advised HMCG they had visual on camera. ILB was tasked. NCI then observed casualty self rescue and reach shore safely. NFA. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
56357 18/02/2026 NCI Torbay HMCG called NCI re. report from MOP of a person in the water, visual requested. NCI searched area, nothing seen. Search continued with negative results, assets stood down, NFA. MCA/HMCG No Yes
56293 17/02/2026 NCI Cape Cornwall NCI called HMCG re. fishing vessel crossing the Lands End TSS close to a second vessel. CG called the fishing vessel on Ch16, but no response. Fishing vessel eventually passed astern of commercial , vessel, CG informed, NFA NCI No Yes
56316 17/02/2026 NCI Hornsea MOP informed NCI there was a spent shell outside the station. HMCG informed, Police informed by CG, and local council moved the item to a site away from the station. Police arrived, cordoned off , the area, but MOD advised it was not dangerous. Police arranged for council to remove item. NCI No Yes
56276 14/02/2026 NCI Swanage NCI observed a vessel throw an object into the water and then circle it. HMCG informed. CG contacted vessel and confirmed it was conducting trials for the RNLI. NFA. NCI No Yes
56315 14/02/2026 NCI Hornsea MOP advised NCI of munitions on the beach, W/K took photo and forwarded it to HMCG. CRT tasked, and were advised by MOD it was safe to remove device. CRT took device away. NCI No Yes
56264 14/02/2026 NCI Worms Head NCI observed 2 MOP stranded, HMCG informed. Unknown RIB appeared, and, having contacted CG, collected casualties. Casualties were taken to shore, and assisted by other MOP up the path. NCI No Yes
56267 14/02/2026 NCI Shoreham NCI overheard comms, HMCG asking vessel to look for an object or person in the water. NCI joined search, nothing seen. The only thing seen was a flock of birds. CRT tasked, and still nothing seen. MCA/HMCG No Yes
56275 14/02/2026 NCI Swanage HMCG called NCI re. report from MOP of a yacht drifting and in difficulty. Visual requested. NCI had visual, nothing unusual suspected. CG attempted to contact vessel. NCI then say a person working on, there outside of the vessel, who then got back onboard. CHG updated. NCI informed CG that the vessel was drifting towards the groins, monitoring requested. 56257 12/02/2026 NCI Exmouth NCI observed a sail boarder in difficulty, waving arms, HMCG informed. (MOP had also reported problem). ILB tasked, but casualty self rescued to beach. NCI Yes Yes
56253 11/02/2026 NCI Mablethorpe NCI informed HMCG a yellow object with aerial was floating past station. Trinity House asked NCI to monitor object. Object beached and CRT attended to deal with it. NCI No Yes
56243 08/02/2026 NCI Penzance HMCG tasked AWLB following an EPIRB activation. LB contacted NCI to assist in search with camera and bins. CG then contacted NCI with new search area, but nothing found. NFA. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes

56157 01/02/2026 NCI Hengistbury Head HMCG called NCI re. report from MOP of an object in the water, some 5 miles from lookout. CG informed visibility was only 2 miles. CRT tasked, and contacted first informant. ILB tasked, but nothing , found, NFA. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
56160 01/02/2026 NCI Folkestone HMCG called NCI requesting a search of cliff top, following a report from MOP of a man appearing unsettled. Nothing seen, then casualty was reported to be in company of CRT, Police and ambulance. , Casualty taken from scene by emergency services. MCA/HMCG No Yes
56174 01/02/2026 NCI Nare Point NCI observed a large floating barrel, HMCG informed, object moving into shipping area. No vessels nearby. Securitee message issued. Barrel lost to sight, NFA. NCI No Yes
56190 01/02/2026 NCI Folkestone HMCG called NCI re. report from MOP of a floating object, visual requested. NCI confirmed visual - object looked like a fishing pot buoy. CRT tasked, and met with MOP. CRT confirmed object was a buoy,, covered with marine growth. NFA MCA/HMCG No Yes
56140 31/01/2026 NCI Swanage MOP reported to NCI a lifelike dummy washed up on the shoreline. HMCG informed, CRT and ILB tasked. Object was identified as a training dummy, and was returned to the LB station. NCI Yes Yes
56149 31/01/2026 NCI Charmouth MOP reported to NCI a person behaving oddly below cliffs. Unable to see with camera. W/K saw a person fossil hunting, but tide was coming in. HMCG informed. 3 walkers were then seen, walking towards , the steps, unhurried. CG updated. All 3 reached steps just as waves broke over steps, and had to dodge waves to reach safety. CG updated. 56171 31/01/2026 NCI Porthcawl HMCG paged CRT re. person fallen on coast path. NCI offered assistance, scan of area requested. Ambulance had been tasked. NCI reported to CG a group[ of people had been seem, location given. , CRT located casualty, who had a broken leg. Treatment was given and casualty stretchered to road. NCI continued to monitor. Casualty transferred to hospital by friends. MCA/HMCG No Yes
56133 30/01/2026 NCI Needles SART on NCI Needles AIS system. NCI contacted HMCG who asked for screen shot and confirmed would investigate. CG called 2 vessels in the area to check and issued Pan Pan. Nothing found , All stood down NCI No Yes

56091 25/01/2026 NCI Boscastle Police called NCI re. MISPER, also casualties brother visited NCI, very concerned. Police visited NCI, asking for a visual search, HMCG informed. ILB in area, but adverse conditions meant could not , help. Clothing was seen on cliff but was a false alarm. Police to bring in drone for an aerial search. NCI No Yes
56095 25/01/2026 NCI St Alban's Head HMCG reported a MOP had said a person was possibly cut off, also reported to be removing clothing. NCO W/K moved to get a better view, nothing seen. CG updated. AWLB and CRT tasked, then W/K spotted , casualty, CG updated. LB given location. NCI continued to monitor, CG updated, and casualty was then seen using torch to head for beach. 56102 25/01/2026 NCI Wells-next-the-Sea MOP reported missing person - NCI Wells - next-the-sea contacted HMCG who requested them to contact Police who came to Lookout then searched beach. Missing person spotted at neighbouring beach. Police, accompanied Missing person's mother NCI No Yes
56104 25/01/2026 NCI Moelfre HMCG contacted NCI Moelfre asking if seen a flare or smoke approx250' NW. Scanned area, nothing seen. Reported to CG who responded a trawler set off a line thrower. Incident closed MCA/HMCG No Yes
56107 25/01/2026 NCI Bembridge Off duty WK reported tree trunks on slipway at Shanklin Esplanade. HMCG contacted and noted NCI No Yes
56075 23/01/2026 NCI Shoreham HMCG called NCI re. report from MOP of a kite abandoned on beach. While on the phone, NCI observed a kite surfer in difficulty , CG informed, monitoring requested. Several minutes later casualty , reached the beach and safety. CG updated. MCA/HMCG No Yes
56080 22/01/2026 NCI Felixstowe NCI observed a small vessel towing a yacht. The towing vessel lost the tow a few minutes later, HMCG informed. No-one visible on towed vessel. Comms were then heard saying they were waiting for the , weather to improve. CG updated. NCI then observed the yachts foresail had broken loose, and mast parted company. CG updated. Several attempts were made to reattach the tow. Tow vessel then informed , VTS the yacht was sinking, and after it sank, the towing vessel returned to port. NFA NCI No Yes
56059 21/01/2026 NCI Folkestone NCI reported to HMCG a large wooden sleeper or board had washed up on the beach. CG noted report but did not raise an incident in log. NFA NCI No Yes
