During 2020 all NCI stations closed for two months at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. On re-opening most stations were single-crewed for the rest of the year.


Please note: NCI Canvey Island was previously know as NCI Holehaven and moved location on Monday 18 October 2021. All NCI Canvey Island Incident Summaries before that date will be in respect of NCI Holehaven at its previous location.

56607 29/03/2026 NCI Lee-on-the-Solent NCI observed a windsurfer fall off, and sail become detached. casualty swimming ashore. HMCG informed, but casualty swimming strongly, and reached shore. CG updated. NCI No Yes
56649 28/03/2026 NCI Exmouth HMCG called NCI requesting visual on a vessel apparently drifting. Nothing seen by Exmouth or Teignmouth NCI. CG then advised casualty was under way, NFA. MCA/HMCG No Yes
56601 28/03/2026 NCI Hengistbury Head HMCG called NCI re. vessel aground, visual requested. NCI confirmed visual, no indication it was aground - 4 POB all fishing. Monitoring requested. Vessel later got underway, CG updated, believed not , to have been aground. MCA/HMCG No Yes
56602 28/03/2026 NCI Whitstable HMCG contacted NCI re. report of yacht in difficulty. Visual established, 1 POB waving briefly. Monitoring maintained, then 2 POB visible, and vessel regained mobility until out of sight. MCA/HMCG No Yes
56596 27/03/2026 NCI Southend NCI heard a May Day from a fishing vessel with engine failure, 2 POB with lifejackets. HMCG asked NCI for visual - confirmed. ILB and CRT tasked. ILB undertook tow, with one crew member on board. , Casualty towed to safety by ILB. All safe. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
56604 27/03/2026 NCI Porthcawl HMCG tasked CRT to a medical evacuation. NCI informed CG they had visual of scene, monitoring requested. NCI conned CRT to scene. Casualty, a young person with knee injury, was stretchered, to a vehicle for onward transport to hospital. MCA/HMCG No Yes
56600 26/03/2026 NCI Fleetwood NCI observed a person with 4 dogs on sands, in danger of being cut off by tide. HMCG informed. CRT tasked, casualty started walking back, carrying two dogs in thigh deep water. Casualty reached , safety and was met by CRT. All safe. NCI No Yes
56573 23/03/2026 NCI Felixstowe MOP informed NCI a large tree trunk , 3-4 mars long, had wished up on the shore. HMCG informed, CRT to be tasked. CG phoned to confirm dimensions, NFA. NCI No Yes
56564 22/03/2026 NCI Canvey Island NCI observed 4 paddle boarders on a sandbank, on an incoming tide. HMCG had a report from a MOP of people cut ff by tide, CRT asked NCI for visual. NCI explained about the paddle boarders. , CRT searched elsewhere, but it was decided it was a FAGWI. MCA/HMCG No Yes
56552 20/03/2026 NCI Lyme Bay HMCG called NCI asking for a search for a dog fallen from a cliff. Dog spotted on beach, W/K located dog, which would not walk so it was wrapped in his coat and carried to the car park. Dog was , reunited with its owner, and checked by a Vet. CG updated. 56553 20/03/2026 NCI St Donat's Bay NCI observed a large cylindrical object washed up on beach. HMCG informed, who contacted Fire service and local council. Fire officer attended, and was conned to object by NCI. Object was declared a , hazard. Incident handed to council for removal, however by this time the object was under water again. NCI No Yes
56548 19/03/2026 NCI Needles Vessel issued a Pan Pan with engine failure, attempting to deploy anchor, but unable to make headway - only one competent sailor on board. NCI established visual, confirmed with HMCG. Weather update , provided. No immediate assistance needed. CG then updated by NCI - vessel making headway. Second yacht contacts casualty, and undertakes tow to safety of a buoy outside harbour. Crew safe and, spent night on boat. MCA/HMCG No Yes
56559 19/03/2026 NCI Cleethorpes HMCG called NCI re. report of a person walking into the sea, search requested. ILB tasked, CRT and beach safety patrol joined search. Police spoke to person who knew casualty, contacted them, and met, at the pier. Casualty was not in the water. Apparently casualty had suffered trauma recently. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
56542 18/03/2026 NCI Nells Point NCI observed 2 MOP on island, causeway just covered. HMCG advised, monitoring requested. CG informed that the casualties had called NCI to say they were cut off by tide. ILB tasked and recovered, casualties to mainland. NCI Yes Yes
56538 18/03/2026 NCI Hengistbury Head HMCG reported a spoken MayDay had been heard from a light aircraft about to ditch. ILB tasked to search, and Pan Pan issued to all vessels. NCI asked by CG to keep a lookout. HELO also tasked. , No evidence of any plane crash was found, terminology used in message was suspect. NCI were sure they would have seen an aircraft ditch, thought to be a hoax call. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
56519 16/03/2026 NCI Exmouth NCI overheard a radio message about a possible fall from a cliff. NCI informed HMCG they had CCTV coverage of the area and will monitor situation. ILB and CRT tasked, and arrived at scene. , Nothing was found, all assets stood down. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
56501 15/03/2026 NCI Brancaster NCI observed 14 MOP on sandbank, in danger of being cut off by tide. HMCG informed, monitoring requested. Casualties then realised the danger, and waded back to beach. All safe, CG updated. NCI No Yes
56503 15/03/2026 NCI Hengistbury Head HMCG called NCI re. report from MOP of a wing foiler in difficulty. Visual requested. The only wing foiler did not appear to be in difficulty. CG updated, monitoring requested. As the visibility , deteriorated, visual was lost, however given that they appeared competent and not in difficulty, no further action was taken. MCA/HMCG No Yes
56659 13/03/2026 NCI Padstow HMCG called NCI re. 999 call from MOP about a wing foiler in difficulty. NCI reported the wing foiler was under observation, and paddling strongly to shore, No action required. MCA/HMCG No Yes
56486 13/03/2026 NCI Felixstowe Pan Pan issued by yacht anchored close to shore, unable to start engine, and drifting. HMCG had some concern for skipper. AWLB tasked, NCI asked for visual - negative. Local pilot vessel took, yacht under tow, and brought it safely alongside in harbour. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
56498 13/03/2026 NCI Shoreham HMCG called NCI re. report from MOP of a surfer possibly in trouble. NCI established visual, saw no cause for concern, CG updated. All surfers in area checked and were okay. MCA/HMCG No Yes
56470 11/03/2026 NCI Skegness A large kite came adrift by the pier. NCI asked by HMCG to monitor until LB arrived. ILB tasked to recover, which it did. Kite returned to shore. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
56473 11/03/2026 NCI Stone Point NCI heard a MayDay on Ch16, with no response heard. HMCG informed, they had heard it, and broadcast a MayDay. CG then downgraded it to a Pan Pan, search requested. Nothing found over the , next two hours. NCI No Yes
56434 06/03/2026 NCI Newhaven NCI observed 8 youths and a scrambler bike on a nature reserve. Situation monitored by CCTV. Police informed, and attended. Bike had left scene, but some youths remained. All left the scene after , police attended. NCI No No
56438 06/03/2026 NCI St Ives A yacht capsized during the night, debris found by MOP next morning, including a tender, a jacket. HMCG asked NCI for log details, and an unidentified vessel had been logged but no detail. HELO, was tasked, and NCI asked for recorded footage - not available. HELO stood down, AWLB to standby off the harbour, and then do a coast search, with the CRT. More debris found, but no casualties , were located. Assets stood down. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
56430 05/03/2026 NCI Exmouth HMCG called NCI repeating request to search for a missing trinity House buoy (see I/R 56413). Search conducted. missing buoy was found, assets stood down. MCA/HMCG No Yes
56413 04/03/2026 NCI Exmouth HMCG asked NCI to search for a lost buoy, reported missing by Trinity House. Nothing seen, due to poor visibility. MCA/HMCG No Yes
56414 04/03/2026 NCI Hengistbury Head HMCG called NCI re. report from MOP of a wind surfer in difficulty. Search requested. ILB tasked, located casualty and returned them to beach. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
56410 03/03/2026 NCI Lyme Bay MOP informed NCI of a marine buoy washed up on beach. W/K visited site, and took photos, which were sent to HMCG. W3W address supplied. CG to deal with problem, NFA by NCI. NCI No Yes
56406 03/03/2026 NCI Canvey Island NCI observed a walker on sandbank at end of marsh, tide about to turn. HMCG informed. CRT tasked to station. Walker reached safety, and was asked to inform NCI if in future she intended to walk on, marsh for long periods. CG updated. NCI No Yes
56399 01/03/2026 NCI Folkestone NCI informed HMCG of a small craft drifting, no-one visible. A raft had been reported previously by Solent CG. Photo supplied. Raft then was lost to view due to weather. NFA NCI No Yes
56388 28/02/2026 NCI Lee-on-the-Solent NCI observed a light aircraft approaching very low, and it crash landed 90 mtrs from the lookout. W/K went on foot to confirm exact location, check for casualties, and relay info. back to lookout. A , single pilot emerged, and was tended by passers by. HMCG informed. Strong smell of fuel, so public kept away. HELO, Ambulance, CRT and local ILB all tasked. Council emergency response team also , attended. NCI stood down, pilot had minor injuries, and aircraft secured to structure to protect from incoming tide. NCI Yes Yes
56369 26/02/2026 NCI Mablethorpe NCI informed HMCG there was a black barrel shaped object in the sea. CRT tasked, could not identify object so ILB tasked. and was conned to object. ILB identified object as a crab pot buoy. NFA. NCI Yes Yes
56365 25/02/2026 NCI St Agnes Head MOP informed NCI there was a pair of boots and other items near a beach. HMCG informed. CRT tasked to investigate. No person was found, items were brought to lookout in case owner returned. NCI No Yes
56352 24/02/2026 NCI Hengistbury Head HMCG called NCI re. report from MOP of a stray vessel of the point. NCI had difficulty identifying object, possibly a vessel, no persons visible. AWLB tasked to investigate. NCI gave update to CG and , vessel was a Remote Control vessel operating in area. NFA. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
56346 23/02/2026 NCI Nells Point HMCG called NCI to inform them that the Police were attending an incident - a MOP threatening self harm. W/K went to site, and reported back to CG. ILB was asked to stand by, as it was already out on , exercise. Incident was resolved, assets stood dow. NFA. Police Yes Yes
56368 23/02/2026 NCI Cleethorpes 2 MOP informed NCI a pedestrian had been involved in a collision with a car in the car park. HMCG informed. W/Ks investigated. Ambulance had been called, as casualty was in extreme pain. Police , were also called. Car owner was found, CRT attended, ILB requested to look for casualties dog, which had run off. Fire Brigade attended, and looked after casualty, until Police and ambulance arrived., Dog was recovered, Police dealt with accident, casualty taken to hospital. NCI Yes Yes
