During 2020 all NCI stations closed for two months at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. On re-opening most stations were single-crewed for the rest of the year.


Please note: NCI Canvey Island was previously know as NCI Holehaven and moved location on Monday 18 October 2021. All NCI Canvey Island Incident Summaries before that date will be in respect of NCI Holehaven at its previous location.

53067 12/04/2025 NCI Wells-next-the-Sea MOP brought a lost child to NCI, who was able to describe parents, and where they might be. HMCG informed, W/K took child to car park, where he was reunited with his parents. NFA. NCI No Yes
53034 11/04/2025 NCI Calshot Tower HMCG called NCI for update on Pan Pan from RIB with engine failure. Casualty not visible due to poor visibility. NCI then updated CG they had visual, and casualty was drifting. Sea Start had been, called and were en route. second vessel which had offered assistance stood down. Sea Start took casualty under tow, Pan Pan cancelled. MCA/HMCG No Yes
53024 10/04/2025 NCI Charmouth MOP reported an unexploded shell on the beach, CRT in attendance, awaiting EOD team. W/Ks keeping public informed. EOD team carried out a controlled explosion, and beach reopened, all safe. NCI No Yes
53027 10/04/2025 NCI Porthcawl HMCG called NCI re. report from MOP of surfer in difficulty. Search by camera revealed no-one in distress, monitoring continued. Video footage revealed debris in water, NFA MCA/HMCG No Yes

53037 10/04/2025 NCI Hornsea HMCG called NCI re. report of children playing in the sea in very rough conditions. 2 children were observed dodging waves on a ramp, with waves washing over them. W/K walked to area with radio., Eventually the children left the area, CG updated. MCA/HMCG No Yes
53073 10/04/2025 NCI Nare Point HMCG issued Pan Pan re. fishing vessel with engine failure, tow requested. NCI informed CG they had visual, monitoring requested. Fishery Protection vessel undertook tow to safety of harbour. MCA/HMCG No Yes
53026 09/04/2025 NCI Porthcawl HMCG called NCI re report from MOP of 2 people cut off by tide. Search requested. NCI informed CG tide was falling so no immediate danger. Casualties were able to walk to safety as tide fell. , CG updated MCA/HMCG No Yes
53016 08/04/2025 NCI Shoreham HMCG called NCI re. report from MOP of 2 persons near water at pier. NCI established visual and were able to assure CG there was no concern. MOP then visited lookout and was assured they were only , fishing. NFA MCA/HMCG No Yes

53015 08/04/2025 NCI Stone Point Yacht called NCI to advise a second yacht had run aground in river, and offered assistance. NCI advised HMCG and that they had visual. Casualty unable to be moved, so it was decided they would wait , for the next high tide, NCI stood down. NCI No Yes
52987 07/04/2025 NCI Exmouth HMCG called NCI re. 7 MOP and 5 dogs stranded on bank in estuary. NCI confirmed they had visual - monitoring requested. 2 waded ashore, waist deep, then rest followed, and 2 returned to collect dogs., CG informed all safe. MCA/HMCG No Yes
52997 07/04/2025 NCI Shoreham HMCG called NCI re. report from MOP of possible upturned boat. W/Ks had been monitoring a fishing inflatable at given posiotion, 3 POB. CG informed. MCA/HMCG No Yes
53008 07/04/2025 NCI Porthcawl NCI observed 2 paddle boarders possibly in difficulty against an ebbing tide. HMCG informed, monitoring requested. NCI advised the casualties were making very slow progress towards shore. CH had , CCTV from local surf shop. Casualties eventually self rescued and made it to the shore. NCI No Yes
52952 06/04/2025 NCI Nells Point Police approached NCI re. vulnerable person, asked to report if seen. HELO searching, HMCG informed. Police then reported casualty had been found alive. Police No Yes
52953 06/04/2025 NCI Hengistbury Head May Day issued re. 2 jetskis which had collided at harbour entrance. NCI informed HMCG they had visual. May Day then downgraded to Pan Pan, and all jet skis then managed to self rescue to quay. MCA/HMCG No Yes
52973 06/04/2025 NCI Exmouth NCI observed a jetski drifting in channel, Lifeguards informed who went to investigate. Engine failure confirmed, HMCG informed and ILB tasked. @ casualties recovered and jets towed to slipway. NCI Yes Yes

53007 06/04/2025 NCI Porthcawl HMCG tasked CRT re. surfers in difficulty, NCI asked to carry out a visual search, no-one in difficulty seen, but 2 MOP were seen possibly cut off by tide, but with an ebbing tide, would soon be able , to walk out. 52924 04/04/2025 NCI Hengistbury Head NCI observed 3 teenagers on sandbar, cut off by tide outside harbour entrance. To get ashore they would need to swim 50mtrs. HMCG informed, monitoring requested. casualties then swam ashore - okay NCI No Yes
52925 04/04/2025 NCI St Alban's Head Yacht issued Pan Pan due to engine failure, and problem with mainsail. Skipper had lifejacket but no life raft. NCI had logged vessel and had visual, CG informed. 52898 03/04/2025 NCI Brancaster NCI observed a black plastic container washed up on beach. HMCG informed. Item was checked and found to be crushed and empty, with no labels or hazard markings. CG updated, NFA., National Trust informed to collect. NCI No Yes
52902 03/04/2025 NCI Exmouth HMCG called NCI re. report from MOP of a kitesurfer separated from kite. NCI confirmed casualty was already under observation, walking on sandbank and not in danger. Casualty then relaunched and , returned to beach safely. CG updated. MCA/HMCG No Yes
