During 2020 all NCI stations closed for two months at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. On re-opening most stations were single-crewed for the rest of the year.


Please note: NCI Canvey Island was previously know as NCI Holehaven and moved location on Monday 18 October 2021. All NCI Canvey Island Incident Summaries before that date will be in respect of NCI Holehaven at its previous location.

53105 19/04/2025 NCI Fleetwood Vessel reported to port control a drifting navigational buoy. NCI passed on information to HMCG. Buoy not visible to NCI, but not in its proper position. CG updated. NFA by NCI NCI No Yes
53106 19/04/2025 NCI Hengistbury Head HMCG requested NCI look for kite surfer reported to be in trouble by MOP. ILB tasked, nothing seen. Incident closed as casualty was then seen on beach. Assets stood down. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
53107 19/04/2025 NCI Hengistbury Head HMCG asked NCI for visual of wind surfer reported to be in trouble. ILB tasked, NCI confirmed visual, casualty repeatedly falling off. ILB went to location, but casualty had self rescued. NFA. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
53112 19/04/2025 NCI Felixstowe NCI observed nine youths, surrounded by bottles close to lookout, three appeared unconscious. Ambulance called, HMCG informed as a courtesy. Ambulance and police assessed casualties, and took three , away in ambulance to hospital. NCI No Yes
53096 18/04/2025 NCI Exmouth HMCG asled NCI to look for a yacht with possible engine failure. NCI confirmed visual via CCTV and optics. Vessel observed by NCI to be heading towards harbour. MCA/HMCG No Yes
53098 17/04/2025 NCI Newhaven MOP reported to NCI several youth drinking in a cave which floods at high water. HMCG informed, AWLB tasked, and conned to location. Youths advised to leave, but refused as tide was ebbing. NFA. NCI No Yes
53083 16/04/2025 NCI Hornsea MOP reported to NCI her ex partner was attempting suicide, by walking into sea. Visual established. HMCG informed. Police HELO and LB involved, casualty was met at station by police and ambulance, , having walked back to the station with CRT and W/K. casualty left in ambulance. Assets stood down. NCI Yes Yes
53084 16/04/2025 NCI Needles Single word MayDay was heard on Ch16. HMCG called NCI asking for any information. Systemic search revealed no vessels in trouble. All ships broadcast had no response. AWLB searched and found , nothing. assets stood down. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
53085 16/04/2025 NCI Portland Bill Yacht in race issued a Pan Pan with engine failure and making no progress. Casualty put more sail up, and made some progress, CG updated by NCI. Vessel then reported to be making way, but AWLB had , been tasked. Pan Pan cancelled, casualty escorted towards harbour, then taken under tow by LB to berth. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
53093 16/04/2025 NCI Swanage NCI observed a small inflatable dinghy, 2 POB, motoring out in adverse conditions. Both wearing buoyancy aids. NCI expressed concern to HMCG, who asked the AWLB , which was in area, to look out for , the dinghy. LB reported the occupants were okay, and continuing on their voyage. All assets stood down. 53070 15/04/2025 NCI Canvey Island NCI observed a large object on sandbank. HMCG informed, CRT arrived to assess. Decision was to leave, and see what happened at high tide. At high tide, object was submerged, NFA. NCI No Yes
53074 13/04/2025 NCI Nare Point NCI observed a sailing dinghy adrift, no-one visible on board. HMCG informed. ILB and CRT tasked, and encountered vessel aground, Assets stood down, boatyard contacted, who confirmed it, was from their moorings, and would be recovered at next high tide. NCI Yes Yes
53082 13/04/2025 NCI Charmouth HMCG called NCI re. report from MOP of fossil hunters climbing cliffs and causing land slides . Visual requested. Extensive visual and CCTV search revealed nothing. NFA MCA/HMCG No Yes
53099 13/04/2025 NCI Calshot Tower Pan Pan issued re. skiff capsized, no-one wearing lifejackets. HMCG asked NCI for visual - confirmed. Life Boat tasked, and reported all safe and vessel being towed to port. Pan pan cancelled. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
53051 13/04/2025 NCI Hengistbury Head Pan Pan issued from sailing vessel with engine failure. HMCG asked NCI for visual - negative, but search continued. NCI established given position was inaccurate. New position given, NCI established , visual, CG informed, and casualty was sailing west. 2 vessels offered assistance, but casualty continued to sail west, incident closed. MCA/HMCG No Yes
53036 12/04/2025 NCI Exmouth NCI offered assistance in search for MISPER which had been ongoing since 02.30. AWLBs and HELO involved in search. CCTV footage reviewed from start of incident, but no sightings were seen. , Eventually all assets stood down, no-one found. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
53041 12/04/2025 NCI Wells-next-the-Sea NCI observed a MOP on a sand bank, cut off by tide. HMCG informed, and ILB tasked. ILB picked up casualty, and returned them safely to shore. NCI Yes Yes
53056 12/04/2025 NCI Portland Bill NCI contacted HMCG re. a kayaker struggling against tide. CG requested F.V to assist, conned to casualty by NCI. Casualty was recovered and returned to shore. NCI No Yes
53057 12/04/2025 NCI Wells-next-the-Sea NCI observed 3 MOP cut off by tide on sands. HMCG tasked ILB, 2 casualties waded back, third recovered by ILB. NCI Yes Yes
53061 12/04/2025 NCI Charlestown HMCG called NCI re. report of floating object, NCI identified object and monitored position , CRT team tasked, and recovered a float. AWLB tasked to investigate, as possible casualty could be there. , Bag with flip flops and fishing line found but nothing else found, assets stood down. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
53067 12/04/2025 NCI Wells-next-the-Sea MOP brought a lost child to NCI, who was able to describe parents, and where they might be. HMCG informed, W/K took child to car park, where he was reunited with his parents. NFA. NCI No Yes
53034 11/04/2025 NCI Calshot Tower HMCG called NCI for update on Pan Pan from RIB with engine failure. Casualty not visible due to poor visibility. NCI then updated CG they had visual, and casualty was drifting. Sea Start had been, called and were en route. second vessel which had offered assistance stood down. Sea Start took casualty under tow, Pan Pan cancelled. MCA/HMCG No Yes
53073 10/04/2025 NCI Nare Point HMCG issued Pan Pan re. fishing vessel with engine failure, tow requested. NCI informed CG they had visual, monitoring requested. Fishery Protection vessel undertook tow to safety of harbour. MCA/HMCG No Yes
53024 10/04/2025 NCI Charmouth MOP reported an unexploded shell on the beach, CRT in attendance, awaiting EOD team. W/Ks keeping public informed. EOD team carried out a controlled explosion, and beach reopened, all safe. NCI No Yes
53027 10/04/2025 NCI Porthcawl HMCG called NCI re. report from MOP of surfer in difficulty. Search by camera revealed no-one in distress, monitoring continued. Video footage revealed debris in water, NFA MCA/HMCG No Yes
53028 10/04/2025 NCI Porthcawl NCI observed several people cut off by tide, HMCG informed, tide still rising. ILB tasked, put a crew member on beach, and found five climbers, who were unconcerned. NFA NCI Yes Yes
53037 10/04/2025 NCI Hornsea HMCG called NCI re. report of children playing in the sea in very rough conditions. 2 children were observed dodging waves on a ramp, with waves washing over them. W/K walked to area with radio., Eventually the children left the area, CG updated. MCA/HMCG No Yes
53026 09/04/2025 NCI Porthcawl HMCG called NCI re report from MOP of 2 people cut off by tide. Search requested. NCI informed CG tide was falling so no immediate danger. Casualties were able to walk to safety as tide fell. , CG updated MCA/HMCG No Yes
53015 08/04/2025 NCI Stone Point Yacht called NCI to advise a second yacht had run aground in river, and offered assistance. NCI advised HMCG and that they had visual. Casualty unable to be moved, so it was decided they would wait , for the next high tide, NCI stood down. NCI No Yes
53016 08/04/2025 NCI Shoreham HMCG called NCI re. report from MOP of 2 persons near water at pier. NCI established visual and were able to assure CG there was no concern. MOP then visited lookout and was assured they were only , fishing. NFA MCA/HMCG No Yes
53003 08/04/2025 NCI Brancaster NCI observed 2 MOP on sandbank, cut off by tide. HMCG informed. Casualties then decided to wade, waist deep, back to shore and safety. NFA NCI No Yes
52987 07/04/2025 NCI Exmouth HMCG called NCI re. 7 MOP and 5 dogs stranded on bank in estuary. NCI confirmed they had visual - monitoring requested. 2 waded ashore, waist deep, then rest followed, and 2 returned to collect dogs., CG informed all safe. MCA/HMCG No Yes
52997 07/04/2025 NCI Shoreham HMCG called NCI re. report from MOP of possible upturned boat. W/Ks had been monitoring a fishing inflatable at given posiotion, 3 POB. CG informed. MCA/HMCG No Yes
53008 07/04/2025 NCI Porthcawl NCI observed 2 paddle boarders possibly in difficulty against an ebbing tide. HMCG informed, monitoring requested. NCI advised the casualties were making very slow progress towards shore. CH had , CCTV from local surf shop. Casualties eventually self rescued and made it to the shore. NCI No Yes
52952 06/04/2025 NCI Nells Point Police approached NCI re. vulnerable person, asked to report if seen. HELO searching, HMCG informed. Police then reported casualty had been found alive. Police No Yes
52953 06/04/2025 NCI Hengistbury Head May Day issued re. 2 jetskis which had collided at harbour entrance. NCI informed HMCG they had visual. May Day then downgraded to Pan Pan, and all jet skis then managed to self rescue to quay. MCA/HMCG No Yes
52973 06/04/2025 NCI Exmouth NCI observed a jetski drifting in channel, Lifeguards informed who went to investigate. Engine failure confirmed, HMCG informed and ILB tasked. @ casualties recovered and jets towed to slipway. NCI Yes Yes
52972 06/04/2025 NCI Exmouth HMCG reported a dinghy capsized in estuary. NCI confirmed visual on CCTV. ILB tasked, but assistance being given by RIB. Casualty was righted, and rescued to shore, ILB stood down. NFA MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
