During 2020 all NCI stations closed for two months at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. On re-opening most stations were single-crewed for the rest of the year.


Please note: NCI Canvey Island was previously know as NCI Holehaven and moved location on Monday 18 October 2021. All NCI Canvey Island Incident Summaries before that date will be in respect of NCI Holehaven at its previous location.

55522 06/11/2025 NCI Felixstowe HMCG issued a Pan Pan re sailing vessel out of fuel and needing a tow to harbour. Vessel not visible by NCI. Updated position then meant NCI had visual, CG informed. Vessel was under sail. As darkness, fell, ILB was tasked, and NCI lost visual. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
55528 06/11/2025 NCI Penzance HMCG called NCI requesting a search for 2 swimmers in difficulty. NCI informed CG they had visual. ILB and HELO had been tasked. ILB recovered casualties and transferred them to an ambulance. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
55507 05/11/2025 NCI Canvey Island MOP advised NCI of a partially submerged vessel, identified by NCI on CCTV, HMCG informed, and position supplied. ILB tasked, and conned to vessel by NCI. LB located vessel, which was by then on , the seabed due to low tide. No sign of occupancy on vessel. LB stood down, NFA. NCI No Yes
55495 05/11/2025 NCI Exmouth HMCG called NCI asking for visual on a paddle boarder, last seen on an outgoing tide. Search revealed nothing, monitoring requested. ILB tasked to conduct a shore line search, nothing seen. AWLB, CRT , and HELO tasked to continue search, local firing range asked to stop operations. All assets stood down, NFA. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
55497 05/11/2025 NCI Exmouth NCI received reports of an unidentified object in water. Search both visual and with optics revealed nothing, CG advised. NCI No Yes
55494 04/11/2025 NCI Felixstowe NCI observed a paddle boarder launch from the beach. They then heard HMCG calling CRT re. said paddle boarder and advised CG they had visual. CRT attended, NCI stood down. MCA/HMCG No Yes
55458 01/11/2025 NCI Stone Point HMCG issued a Pan Pan re. a yacht aground. CG asked NCI for visual - confirmed, monitoring requested. Pan Pan was then upgraded to MayDay as vessel was listing, ILB and AWLB tasked. LBs and , Seastart vessel unable to approach casualty due to low water, so 3 POB were taken off by Y boat. A kedge anchor was deployed, 2 crew remained on board to await rising tide. NCI updated CG that , incident was under control, May Daywas cancelled. NCI lookout closed for night, all under control. 55429 29/10/2025 NCI Portland Bill A diver informed NCI he had lost his surface marker buoy, and he was safe and well. HMCG informed, for information only, in case a search was initiated for a missing diver. Buoy not recovered. NCI No Yes
55417 28/10/2025 NCI Exmouth HMCG called NCI requesting monitoring of a kite surfer reported to be in difficulty. Extensive search revealed nothing. NFA MCA/HMCG No Yes
55419 28/10/2025 NCI Needles Unclear MayDay heard, HMCG called with no response. NCI assessed all vessel in area, nothing apparent. CG asked NCI for visual - negative. Speedboat then reported a wave had broken the windscreen, and caused injury ro solo skipper, and impaired his vision. NCI identified vessel and gave CG an accurate position, and warned it was too close to a shingle bank. AWLB tasked, and escorted , casualty back to safety of harbour, to be met by ambulance. 55426 28/10/2025 NCI Llandudno NCI were monitoring a lone wind surfer in rough conditions, when he disappeared from sight, and not seen to come ashore. HMCG informed, and requested NCI speak to other wind surfers, who , identified the person, and provided a phone number. CG contacted casualty and ascertained he was safe. NFA NCI No Yes
55436 28/10/2025 NCI Padstow HMCG called NCI re. report from MOP of a foil surfer in difficulty. NCI could not see anyone in trouble. 30 minuted later, NCI observed 2 surfers who appeared to be in trouble, and informed harbour , patrol vessel. HMCG then contacted harbour vessel, asking for help. Vessel contacted casualties, and recovered them to the beach. All safe and well. MCA/HMCG No Yes
55406 27/10/2025 NCI Fleetwood HMCG called NCI requesting a search for a floating object, resembling a pair of overalls. Nothing unusual seen, but an orange buoy identified, CG updated. NFA. MCA/HMCG No Yes
55407 27/10/2025 NCI Swanage NCI observed a fluorescent orange jacket floating in the water, possibly from nearby vessel. CG informed, NCI tried to contact vessel, but no response. Jacket could easily be mis-reported as a body. , Object drifted until out of sight. NFA. NCI No Yes

55414 26/10/2025 NCI Whitstable NCI heard a radio call to HMCG re. lost propel;sion, having been monitoring vessel. NCI informed CG they had visual. Pan Pan issued. A training vessel then made contact with casualty vessel, and , attended to assist. Assets stood down. MCA/HMCG No Yes
55399 26/10/2025 NCI Torbay HMCG called NCI to report a car over the cliff - confirmation requested. W/K went to car park, and met with CRT and Police. 55394 25/10/2025 NCI Mablethorpe NCI called HMCG re. a surfer they had seen entering the water, and could no longer be seen. CCTV and visual search carried out, nothing seen, CG updated. CRT tasked, but nothing seen, assumed , to have come out of water. NFA. NCI No Yes
55395 25/10/2025 NCI Lee-on-the-Solent NCI observed a yacht with a torn spinnaker, listing, 1 POB. HMCG informed, monitoring requested. CG contacted vessel, ILB tasked. 55387 24/10/2025 NCI Felixstowe NCI heard May Day from a yacht, 1 POB and one in water from a capsized dinghy. No response so NCI responded and called HMCG. Nearby Trinity House vessel responded, and ILB tasked. Local , pilot vessel also responded. T.H. workboat recovered casualty, conscious but cold, and transferred them to mother vessel. ILB recovered casualty from yacht. CRT met casualty and transferred them to , a waiting ambulance. NCI Yes Yes
55434 24/10/2025 NCI Padstow NCI observed a wing foiler in difficulty, unable to mount board. HMCG and harbour patrol informed. ILB tasked, updated position of casualty supplied. casualty then managed to reach the beach, assets , stood down, NFA. NCI Yes Yes
55361 21/10/2025 NCI Gwennap Head Yacht issued a May Day - taking on water. Vessel unsure of exact position. NATO warship offered assistance but casualty was too close to shore. CG asked NCI for visual - affirmative, and exact , position supplied. NCI asked to monitor, and be prepared to con LB to casualty. 55365 21/10/2025 NCI Swanage NCI observed a fisherman on a ledge, and were concerned about access back to beach. Person was monitored and HMCG informed, and photo sent. CG were given updates as casualty slowly , returned to the beach. No assets deployed. NCI No Yes
55350 20/10/2025 NCI Fleetwood NCI observed a floating object, HMCG informed. Local ferry asked to investigate, and advised object was a pallet and netting, which had been reported before. NFA. NCI No Yes
55356 20/10/2025 NCI Worms Head HMCG called NCI re. report from MOP of a surfer, possibly in difficulty. W/K walked to establish visual, and informed CG the surfer appeared in distress. 55336 18/10/2025 NCI Folkestone MOP( ex NCI W/K) called NCI re kite surfer in difficulty, and kept watch while casualty eventually returned to the beach. 55337 18/10/2025 NCI Hengistbury Head NCI observed a small motor vessel attempting to enter harbour, and ran aground, and was washed to shoreline and buffeted by waves. HMCG informed, and 4 POB were on sand, ILB and CRT were tasked, , CG requested monitoring. CRT attended, all POB were on beach, lookout closed and incident closed. All safe, and vessel still beached. 55349 18/10/2025 NCI Charlestown NCI observed a large object washed up on beach, possible mine. HMCG informed, CRT tasked. Object discovered to be a large buoy from local mussel farm, and was removed. NCI No Yes
55351 18/10/2025 NCI Exmouth NCI had been monitoring a wing surfer struggling but not in distress. HMCG called NCI following report from MOP of wing surfer in trouble. NCI updated CG that casualty was safely ashore. NFA. MCA/HMCG No Yes
55329 18/10/2025 NCI Needles May Day was issued from a capsized catamaran, 1 POB wearing a lifejacket. LB and HELO tasked, NCI asked for visual by HMCG - initially negative then casualty identified, CG updated. Monitoring, requested. rescue boat and UKBF cutter attended casualty, and cutter took casualty on board. Casualty taken ashore, and LB took upturned vessel under tow, but it subsequently broke up and was , abandoned. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
55331 18/10/2025 NCI Shoreham NCI observed a sailing vessel with a torn sail, entangled in a racing buoy. HMCG informed, monitoring requested. CG tried unsuccessfully to contact vessel, which then, despite damage, motored into , harbour. NCI No Yes
55339 17/10/2025 NCI Porthcawl MOP informed NCI a person had called by harbour steps, and an ambulance had been called. HMCG informed, W/K attended casualty who was diabetic and had been unconscious. CRT tasked, casualty, was stabilised by ambulance crew. All assets stood down. NCI No Yes
