During 2020 all NCI stations closed for two months at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. On re-opening most stations were single-crewed for the rest of the year.


Please note: NCI Canvey Island was previously know as NCI Holehaven and moved location on Monday 18 October 2021. All NCI Canvey Island Incident Summaries before that date will be in respect of NCI Holehaven at its previous location.

55833 20/12/2025 NCI Newhaven NCI observed a large object washed up on beach. Appeared to be a full oil drum. HMCG informed, CRT tasked. NCI guided CRT to object, which turned out to be a large piece of wood, which was , by then back in the sea. It was decided to leave it until it washed up again. NCI No Yes
55835 20/12/2025 NCI Hengistbury Head NCI heard radio traffic relating to a MISPER. AWLB searching. NCI reported to HMCG a kite surfer was in difficulty, however this was not the casualty being searched for. CG asked NCI for details of , vessels in the area - negative. 55846 20/12/2025 NCI Porthcawl HMCG called NCI re. report from MOP of concern for a windsurfer. Search requested. NCI search revealed one windsurfer coming ashore, no apparent difficulty, and no other problems. CG updated. MCA/HMCG No Yes
55816 17/12/2025 NCI Boscastle An NCI watch keeper, while going off watch in severe winds, felt unable to continue, and fell. Second W/K went to assist. and HMCG informed. CRT tasked. CRT recovered casualty in their vehicle. NCI No Yes
55821 17/12/2025 NCI Shoreham NCI observed an unusual radar return, previously not seen before. Nothing seen with binoculars. HMCG informed, as previously a ship had lost containers. Harbour radio asked Fishing vessel to look, but, nothing seen. CG then informed that a new marker buoy was in that position. NCI No Yes
55823 17/12/2025 NCI Whitstable NCI observed a small motor launch adrift no-one on board. HMCG informed. ILB tasked, and took vessel under tow. Trailer was still attached to vessel. Vessel was handed over to CRT, CG informed Police. NCI No Yes
55786 12/12/2025 NCI Gorleston A lone kayaker called NCI reporting his progress around a route already planned. NCI had been monitoring kayaker during trip. NCI noticed a fast craft pass close to kayaker, and then were unable to , contact him. HMCG informed, also unable to contact him. A local vessel was asked to keep a look out. No further sighting was made, until kayaker phoned to say he was safe and well on beach. , CG updated. NCI No Yes
55794 12/12/2025 NCI Porthcawl NCI overheard an unanswered call to a fishing vessel re. an injured crewman. NC plotted position and updated HMCG. Pan Pan was issued, HELO and AWLB were tasked. HELO recovered casualty and , transferred to hospital. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes

55746 07/12/2025 NCI Portland Bill NCI observed a surfer in difficult conditions, attempting to surf. HMCG informed, monitoring requested. CRT, AWLB, and HELO were tasked, NCI lost visual contact on CCTV. MOP informed CRT they saw a , surfer matching the description leaving the water. 55751 07/12/2025 NCI Teignmouth HMCG called NCI re. report from a MOP of a swimmer clinging to a buoy. Search requested but nothing seen. May Day relay issued. CRT spotted swimmer, ILB tasked, but casualty initially declined , help. LB crew member went into water and helped casualty into LB, and returned to station. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
55757 06/12/2025 NCI Ramsgate NCI observed a kite surfer for some time, and then noted he was in difficulty. HMCG informed by 999, ILB tasked. NCI kept CG updated as to his position, May Day issued, and ILB recovered casualty, and his gear, and returned him to beach. NCI Yes Yes

55721 03/12/2025 NCI Canvey Island NCI observed a moored yacht with flapping sail in local boatyard. Boatyard phoned, already aware and had been trying to contact owner. Vessel placed there by RNLI some time ago. HMCG updated. NCI No Yes
55748 01/12/2025 NCI Ramsgate MOP informed NCI of their concern for the welfare of a person on the promenade. W/K (a qualified medic) spoke with the man, who then wandered off along the promenade. HMCG then phoned NCI, for weather for a HELO landing, as someone had fallen from the cliff. Other emergency services attended, outcome unknown by NCI. NCI No Yes
55701 30/11/2025 NCI Porthcawl NCI heard radio transmission from a vessel leaving marina, so informed HMCG they had visual and camera feed. CG advised the vessel had fouled its propellor.Monitoring requested. ILB was tasked. , LB established a tow and vessel was returned to marina. CG updated. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
55722 30/11/2025 NCI Swanage MOP informed NCI he had fallen and banged his head, and was feeling shaken. W/Ks monitored casualty for 35 minutes, offered to call an ambulance, and his condition improved. NCI advised casualty to , contact doctor or 999 if he felt worse. NFA. NCI No No

55682 29/11/2025 NCI Shoreham HMCG called NCI re. report from MOP of a windsurfer in difficulty. NCI informed CG they had been monitoring several windsurfers. MOP then called to say casualty was safely ashore. MCA/HMCG No Yes
55670 27/11/2025 NCI Hengistbury Head HMCG called NCI re.concern for a small inflatable, 3 POB, drifting off the beach. NCI informed CG they had observed the vessel move away under power. NCI updated its position - possibly fishing. , ILB tasked to check occupants, and was conned to dinghy by NCI. LB reached dinghy, spoke with occupants, who decided to return to beach, as visibility was deteriorating. All safe. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
55671 26/11/2025 NCI Hengistbury Head NCI were informed of a missing person, Police aware. HMCG informed, but Police handling incident. CG then tasked CRT and ILB, and also CG HELO. 55644 23/11/2025 NCI Cleethorpes MOP reported to NCI a possible person in the water. HMCG advised, ILB and CRT tasked. ILB carried out search, and reported a black object, possible ship timbers, assumed to be object sighted. NCI Yes Yes
55645 23/11/2025 NCI Worms Head NCI observed 2 MOP possibly stranded by incoming tide. Warning sign and Aldis lamp deployed but no response. HMCG informed, CRT tasked. NCI used loudhailer to warn of closure of causeway. , MOPs then waded across causeway to safety. NFA NCI No Yes
55650 23/11/2025 NCI Skegness HMCG asked NCI to search for a missing lone swimmer. AWLB tasked to search, also HELO. Search continued until dark, nothing found. NCI asked to continue search next day. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
55637 22/11/2025 NCI Moelfre A walker collapsed close to lookout, NCI called 999 and alerted HMCG. W/K and casualties friend administered CPR and a defibrillator was obtained and used. Air ambulance was conned in by NCI using W3W, A paramedic arrived and took over treatment, along with CRT. Casualty was taken to hospital by air ambulance, assets stood down. NCI No Yes
55641 22/11/2025 NCI Southend NCI observed a cabin cruiser which had slipped its mooring. No reply from pier office. HMCG informed as it was approaching the boom. CRT tasked. CRT secured vessel at beach high water mark NCI No Yes
55633 21/11/2025 NCI Newhaven HMCG called NCI re. vessel with loss of steering. NCI identified vessel, 1 POB, and reported to CG vessel was drifting. ILB tasked, and was conned to casualty by NCI. Casualty towed to safety by ILB. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
55625 20/11/2025 NCI Gosport A May Day relay alert was issued by EPIRB. HMCG asked NCI for visual - nothing seen. ILB tasked, and it was believed alert was from a vessel which had sunk previous day. NFA. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
55631 20/11/2025 NCI Prawle Point NCI observed a yacht making little progress, with light fading. HMCG informed, monitoring requested. CG attempted contact, no visible response seen by NCI. ILB tasked, which was conned to vessel , by NCI, and undertook a tow to safety. NCI Yes Yes
55621 20/11/2025 NCI Brancaster NCI W/K observed a large Chanel buoy washed up on beach. National Trust informed, also HMCG. N.T. to contact local fisherman who is responsible for buoys. 55572 16/11/2025 NCI Southend NCI observed a walker on mud flats in a prohibited area. Range Control and HMCG requested NCI monitor. Person appeared to be fishing. CRT tasked, then person returned to the shore. All parties , informed. NCI No Yes
55574 16/11/2025 NCI Canvey Island NCI were monitoring 3 wing surfers, and became concerned for one of them, struggling against outgoing tide. HMCG informed, ILB tasked. then a person swam out and assisted casualty to safety. , CG updated. LB stood down, CRT met casualty at sea wall. NCI Yes Yes

55566 14/11/2025 NCI Charmouth HMCG called NCI re. report from MOP of 2 persons cut off by tide. Visual requested. Visibility very poor, however NCI did establish visual. CRT and ILB tasked, monitoring requested. CRT established , the casualties were fossilers and did not require help. ILB did a sweep to be sure no others were involved. Assets stood down. 55557 12/11/2025 NCI Hengistbury Head Local rangers informed NCI of two dead dolphins, two dead seal pups, and nine dead seabirds (one +ve for avian flu) on the beach. NCI informed HMCG, and were asked by the rangers to ask MsOP to stay , away. CG tasked CRT to recover dolphins for Post Mortem examination. NCI passed rangers details to CG. NCI No Yes
55547 10/11/2025 NCI Needles NCI observed an upturned dinghy with lifejacket and a red object. No persons visible. HMCG advised, photos sent. Video playback revealed dinghy had arrived on incoming tide. AWLB and HELO tasked to , search area, also Police arrived. Further lifejackets found, but no persons.
