During 2020 all NCI stations closed for two months at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. On re-opening most stations were single-crewed for the rest of the year.


Please note: NCI Canvey Island was previously know as NCI Holehaven and moved location on Monday 18 October 2021. All NCI Canvey Island Incident Summaries before that date will be in respect of NCI Holehaven at its previous location.

57317 04/06/2026 NCI Felixstowe MOP called NCI re. concern for an elderly lady paddling in the sea, fully clothed. NCI had visual, W/K approached, but was told to go away. HMCG informed of concern, CRT tasked. No further sighting , of the lady was had after search so search called off. NCI No Yes
57318 04/06/2026 NCI Whitstable HMCG called NCI re. report from MOP of a vessel aground off the beach. NCI identified vessel, which appeared to be at anchor. CG updated. Vessel then got under way without problem. CG informed. MCA/HMCG No Yes
57285 02/06/2026 NCI Exmouth HMCG requested visual on 2 paddle boarders reported to be unable to make headway against current. NCI unable to locate them. CG then confirmed they were safely ashore. MCA/HMCG No Yes
57292 02/06/2026 NCI St Ives MOP reported to NCI a person had fallen and had a head injury. W/Ks attended and offered first aid (both qualified) and called ambulance. Casualty was moved to shelter, and then taken for treatment by, ambulance. HMCG were notified (already aware). NCI No Yes
57295 02/06/2026 NCI Felixstowe Yacht called HMCG with fouled prop/rudder, no reply so called VTS who informed CG. NCI informed CG they had visual, and casualty had dropped anchor. Yacht crew managed to free prop without , assistance, and proceeded on its way. NCI No Yes
57299 02/06/2026 NCI Prawle Point May Day was issued re. yacht with a jammed genoa, unable to lower sail. 3 POB, one very seasick. NCI informed HMCG they had visual, monitoring requested. AWLB tasked. crew members boarded , yacht and lowered sail. Selonce Feenee. MCA/HMCG No Yes

57277 01/06/2026 NCI Prawle Point NCI observed a solo racing yacht heading for rocks. The vessel had been observed for several minutes, HMCG informed. CG called vessel twice, which then tacked away from danger. NFA NCI No Yes
57243 31/05/2026 NCI Chapel Point MOP reported to NCI a child holding a suspicious object on the beach. Child instructed to lay object down, HMCG informed, photos supplied. Ordinance team and CRT tasked, a cordon was applied. , Bomb disposal arrived and removed object, which was a 30mm shell. NCI No Yes
57246 31/05/2026 NCI Felixstowe HMCG called NCI re report from MOP of an inflatable adrift. NCI had just observed the same object. NCI assured CG that no persons were involved, incident closed. MCA/HMCG No Yes
57294 31/05/2026 NCI Calshot Tower MOP informed NCI a dinghy, 1 POB, was drifting in shipping channel. HMCG informed, ILB tasked, was conned to dinghy by MOP and NCI. LB took dinghy under tow back to their yacht. NCI Yes Yes
57240 30/05/2026 NCI Moelfre NCI observed a kayak, paddling against wind and tide, going out to sea. NCI called on Ch65 to all stations, and guided speedboat to kayaker, HMCG informed. Casualty recovered to the shore safely. NCI No Yes
57241 30/05/2026 NCI Exmouth HMCG called NCI re. report from MOP of 2 kayakers apparently drifting, visual requested. CG informed they did not appear in difficulty, but would continue to monitor. NFA. Weather updated to CG. MCA/HMCG No Yes
57251 30/05/2026 NCI Portland Bill Pan Pan was issued re. yacht with engine failure. NCI informed HMCG they had visual. Second yacht offered assistance, but casualty restarted engine and carried on. NCI monitored passage until out of , sight. MCA/HMCG No Yes
57224 30/05/2026 NCI Hengistbury Head HMCG called NCI re. report of a vessel showing smoke off the pier. NCI scanned area but saw nothing. CG updated. MCA/HMCG No Yes
57226 30/05/2026 NCI Needles Yacht issued a Pan Pan as they were aground. NCI established visual, CG informed. Several vessels attempted to help, but to no avail. It was then noted by NCI that the vessel was afloat on the rising, tide, CG updated. Pan Pan cancelled. MCA/HMCG No Yes
57231 30/05/2026 NCI Brancaster NCI observed 5 MOP on sand bar, in danger of being cut off by tide. HMCG informed, monitoring requested. ILB and CRT tasked, casualties realised they were stranded, and swam back through deep water , to safety. CRT met them on shore. NCI Yes Yes

57215 29/05/2026 NCI Swanage Vessel informed NCI a yacht had run aground, and had been advised to deploy anchor. HMCG informed. Casualty contacted CG to say they had no injuries, and would wait for the tide to refloat. NCI No Yes
57197 28/05/2026 NCI Needles HMCG called NCI requesting visual on a kayaker reported to be in difficulty.NCI located kayak, ILB tasked and confirmed kayaker was fine, NFA. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
57198 28/05/2026 NCI Charmouth CRT, Ambulance and CG HELO were tasked by HMCG to a MOP who had called from a cliff. NCI offered a landing zone by lookout, but it landed closer to casualty. HELO recovered casualty and , transferred them to hospital. MCA/HMCG No Yes
57206 28/05/2026 NCI Brancaster NCI observed a paddle boarder go out with a strong offshore breeze, and struggling to return. HMCG informed, casualty making no headway. AWLB, ILB and CRT tasked, as casualty was distressed. , ILB recovered casualty to shore, CRT checked them over. NCI No Yes
57210 28/05/2026 NCI Gwennap Head Climber reported to NCI a fellow climber had fallen while climbing a cliff. Casualty was finding walking painful. HMCG informed, CRT tasked, and met at NCI lookout. HELO ambulance was tasked, and , evacuated casualty to hospital. NCI No Yes

57259 28/05/2026 NCI Wells-next-the-Sea NCI observed 5 young adults crossing the channel after warning siren. 2 swam to safety, others attracted attention, HMCG informed. ILB tasked, however the 3 reached safety. A sixth person was spotted, unaware of the incoming tide, and ILB relaunched and did a step before returning to shore. NCI No Yes
57212 28/05/2026 NCI Exmouth Police requested NCI search for a person reported missing. NCI conveyed request to LGs. Nothing was seen or heard by the time NCI closed. Police No Yes
57222 28/05/2026 NCI Shoreham While on beach patrol, NCI found 2 large Nitrous Oxide Lannister's, which were taken to the lookout. Police informed, who advised to contact Council, for collection. NCI No No
57227 28/05/2026 NCI Porthcawl NCI heard HMCG and CRT discussing a MISPER. NCI offered to search area with Binos and CCTV. Nothing seen, then casualty was reported to have been found, safe and well. MCA/HMCG No Yes
57228 28/05/2026 NCI Porthcawl NCI informed HMCG of concern for climbers on point, did not appear to be making progress. Monitoring requested. ILB tasked, contacted climbers, and were advised of an alternative route. Climbers , completed climb, assets stood down. NCI Yes Yes
57195 28/05/2026 NCI Boscastle NCI observed 2 kayaks struggling to make headway. One adult and one child, both wearing buoyancy aids. HMCG informed, as childs Kayak had capsized and child unable to get back in. The kayak drifted , away, the child laid across other kayak, which also capsized. Adult righted kayak, and got back in, but could not make any headway. ILB tasked, kayak with adult on board still in view, but no sign of , the child. MOP on rocks appeared to be involved and on his phone. ILB recovered both casualties to harbour, and then recovered both kayaks, having been conned to them by NCI. NCI Yes Yes
57232 28/05/2026 NCI Calshot Tower NCI observed 1 adults and 4 children, all wearing lifejackets, on a paddle board stuck in the mud. HMCG informed. CRT, ILB and Fire Service tasked to attend. All casualties were. recovered to safety. NCI Yes Yes
57185 27/05/2026 NCI Fleetwood LGs called NCI re. an inflatable life ring adrift, no sign of any person. NCI identified object, established it was a childs life ring, HMCG advised, and object continued drifting - NFA. No child had , reported missing. NCI No Yes

57183 26/05/2026 NCI Porthcawl NCI observed multiple persons trying to cross river mouth. HMCG informed, ILB and CRT tasked. NCI monitored by camera. LB advised CG there were 100 plus people trying to cross, evacuation plan, needed. CRT escorted casualties to a bridge to cross the estuary, 30 - 40 minutes away. LB and NCI stood down.
