During 2020 all NCI stations closed for two months at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. On re-opening most stations were single-crewed for the rest of the year.


Please note: NCI Canvey Island was previously know as NCI Holehaven and moved location on Monday 18 October 2021. All NCI Canvey Island Incident Summaries before that date will be in respect of NCI Holehaven at its previous location.

57273 25/04/2026 NCI Wells-next-the-Sea MOP called NCI asking if they were aware of a capsized vessel, person in the water. NCI did not have visual initially. HMCG then contacted NCI, ILB tasked, recovered casualty and vessel to shore. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
56863 25/04/2026 NCI Cleethorpes Parent reported a vulnerable child missing. HMCG informed. Beach safety, CRT, and Police tasked. W/Ks continued search, until a MOP reported child had been found in car park, and was with the Police. NCI No Yes
56871 24/04/2026 NCI Folkestone NCI observed an upturned RIB, with person sitting on it. HMCG informed, monitoring requested. Harbour RIB approached vessel, took casualty on board, and righted RIB. CG updated. NCI No Yes
56853 24/04/2026 NCI Cape Cornwall Off duty W/K working at the lookout had a medical emergency. On duty W/K called 999 for ambulance, and informed HMCG. CRT and first responder arrived, followed by ambulance, and S.M. After , treatment, casualty was taken to hospital for treatment. CG updated. NCI No Yes
56861 24/04/2026 NCI Hengistbury Head Pan Pan issued re. motor vessel with engine failure. NCI located casualty, HMCG informe, monitoring requested. Second vessel unable to assist due to sea state. CG suggest Sea Start be contacted. , Sea Start arrived one hour later, and towed casualty to port. Pan pan cancelled. MCA/HMCG No Yes
56862 24/04/2026 NCI Portland Bill HMCG called NCI requesting search for a missing person. Rucksack and bicycle visible, CG updated. CRT, HELO, AWLB, ILB, drones, and Police all involved in search, but nothing found. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
5846 23/04/2026 NCI Polruan NCI observed a yacht, stationary on AIS, but could not find visually or on radar. HMCG informed. CG called vessel on Ch16, with initially no response, but eventually vessel reported it was safely at , its destination. NFA. NCI No Yes
56848 23/04/2026 NCI Nells Point NCI observed a strong swimmer passing lookout, but then lost sight of them. W/K did a foot patrol, and after a false alarm, spotted the swimmer. HMCG informed, and asked NCI to keep a lookout for him., No further sightings, and assumed safe. NCI No Yes
56849 23/04/2026 NCI Gosport NCI issued a MayDay relay re. a person in the water, having fallen off a jetski. Casualty was picked up by second jetski, HMCG informed, MayDay cancelled. NFA NCI No Yes
56855 23/04/2026 NCI Porthcawl HMCG called NCI re. call from Ambulance service, who had received a call from a despondent person on pier. Search revealed no persons of interest on pier, CG updated. CRT tasked, and search continued,, ambulance service attended lookout. ILB tasked to search, and reported a person seen on rocks, but not the casualty. 56854 22/04/2026 NCI Porthcawl HMCG called NCI re. report from MOP of a kayak, 2 POB, struggling in conditions. Visual requested - established on CCTV. ILB tasked, NCI asked to monitor. ILB recovered casualties to beach and safety. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
56825 21/04/2026 NCI Mablethorpe HMCG asked NCI to look out for a missing person, a holiday maker who had been reported missing by family. Search was carried out, ILB tasked. Casualty was found by Police, safe and well. Assets , stood down. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
56831 21/04/2026 NCI Bass Point NCI observed a commercial vessel anchored in the cable exclusion zone. NCI contacted BT Marine, who contacted vessel. Vessel then moved to a safe distance from cables. NFA. NCI No No
56814 19/04/2026 NCI Swanage NCI heard a Pan Pan from HMCG re. a vessel having lost power. NCI observed three vessels in area, all of which were monitored. NCI identified vessel, crew were waving oars. 3 POB. CG informed by NCI , that they had visual. Monitoring requested. A grey RIB established a tow, and casualty vessel was towed to safety of harbour. 56817 19/04/2026 NCI Padstow NCI observed harbour masters vessel moving at speed, and ascertained it had been tasked by HMCG to 2 casualties. NCI asked to monitor as they has visual. One casualty was visible on rocks, but no-one , was visible in the water. Next day the incident continued, and search resumed, involving Police HELO, AWLB, ILB and LGs. 56793 18/04/2026 NCI Shoreham NCI observed a capsized dinghy, 0.5Nm off the pier. HMCG and LGs informed. NCI thought it was single handed dinghy they had seen earlier. LGs unable to launch RIB, but jetski undertook a tow , to the beach and safety. NCI No Yes
56794 18/04/2026 NCI Rame Head HMCG tried to contact a small motor vessel in difficulty. CG asked NCI if they had heard transmission - negative - Pan Pan issued, NCI confirmed visual to CG, vessel had engine failure. AWLB tasked,, NCI conned LB to casualty, as it had overshot position. 56784 16/04/2026 NCI Filey NCI observed a MOP cut off by tide and trying to climb cliff. HMCG informed, monitoring requested. Casualty did manage to reach the top of a very crumbly cliff, CG updated. NFA. NCI No Yes
56788 16/04/2026 NCI Exmouth HMCG called NCI asking for visual on a cabin cruiser reportedly aground. Casualty was located, CRT tasked. ILB tasked, vessel was refloated and escorted by LB to a mooring. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
56770 13/04/2026 NCI Porthcawl HMCG called NCI re. report from MOP concerned for 2 persons on an inflatable kayak. Search requested, casualties identified, and they appeared to be struggling in the conditions. ILB tasked. Local , surfers and paddle boarders assisted casualties to shore and safety, CG updated. 56780 13/04/2026 NCI Fleetwood NCI observed a Jet Ski around. HMCG informed, position supplied. CRT tasked to make contact. Casualties started to walk back to shore, jetski high and dry. CRT informed NCI the 2 people would return , later to recover jetski, CG updated. NCI No Yes
56751 11/04/2026 NCI Hengistbury Head NCI saw a Man Overboard alarm on the chart plotter AIS. HMCG informed. CG tried to call vessel. Pan Pan issued. ILB tasked, and position confirmed by NCI. 56735 09/04/2026 NCI Mablethorpe MOP approached NCI re. a person taking inappropriate video of a girl. Police informed, two individuals observed, who seemed to be part of a larger group. Police arrived, were given details of vehicles, involved. Outcome unknown at present. NCI No No

56734 08/04/2026 NCI Calshot Tower NCI observed a kite surfer in difficulty - separated from their board. HMCG informed, ILB tasked. ILB was conned to casualty on Ch65. LB crew sorted outsourcer and returned to station. NFA. NCI Yes Yes
