During 2020 all NCI stations closed for two months at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. On re-opening most stations were single-crewed for the rest of the year.


Please note: NCI Canvey Island was previously know as NCI Holehaven and moved location on Monday 18 October 2021. All NCI Canvey Island Incident Summaries before that date will be in respect of NCI Holehaven at its previous location.

56706 06/04/2026 NCI Calshot Tower Motor vessel issued a May Day - taking on water. Sea Start rescue were tasked. NCI informed HMCG they had visual and were monitoring. Casualty was towed to a secure berth, pump put on board. MCA/HMCG No Yes
56697 05/04/2026 NCI Canvey Island NI informed HMCG a large lump of driftwood was washed up onto the foreshore. MOP had reported it to NCI. CRT tasked to investigate. CRT moved log to a safe place. NFA NCI No Yes
56690 04/04/2026 NCI Southend NCI observed a kite surfer caught in the boom, 200 mtrs offshore. Second kite surfer tried to assist. HMCG informed, weather updated. Second kite surfer carried kite to shore, and casualty walked , ashore with board. All safe, CG updated. CRT attended. NCI No Yes

56682 03/04/2026 NCI Porthcawl HMCG called NCI re overdue windsurfer who had not returned to the beach. Search carried out, casualty located safe and well, no assistance needed. MCA/HMCG No Yes
56711 02/04/2026 NCI Cleethorpes MOP reported to NCI a person in distress on the beach. NCI established visual, beach safety team called NCI to say they had called Police. Police unable to attend, ambulance called - ETA 8 hours. , HMCG informed, and casualty then appeared unresponsive. W/K approached casualty, and confirmed they were drunk, and wished to sleep it off. 56767 02/04/2026 NCI Froward Point HMCG called NCI asking them to look out for a yacht, 3 POB, which the harbour authority were concerned for their safety. Vessel was observed, accompanied by Authority RIB, trying to dissuade them from, continuing. vessel appeared ill prepared, only 1 POB with a lifejacket. The crew of the RIB persuaded the crew to turn back, as they considered the outboard insufficient to complete passage, as the, weather was changing. MCA/HMCG No Yes
56648 01/04/2026 NCI St Alban's Head Yacht issued a May Day due to loss of power, NCI informed HMCg they had visual on casualty and a stand off vessel.- weather conditions supplied. ILB and AWLB tasked, and casualty was towed to , safety by AWLB. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
56650 01/04/2026 NCI Swanage A walker approached NCI, having fallen and was injured. First Aid was offered, and casualty decided to go to hospital under his own steam. NCI advised hospital of his arrival. NCI No No
56651 01/04/2026 NCI Needles NCI observed a yacht aground on a shingle bank. vessel called HMCG advising of situation, but no assistance required. NCI asked to monitor situation. 56626 31/03/2026 NCI Brancaster NCI observed 4 MOP and a dog about to be cut off by tide. HMCG informed, monitoring requested. CRT tasked. Casualties waded through waist deep water to safety. NCI No Yes
56629 31/03/2026 NCI Filey MOP informed NCI youths were throwing stoned from cliff onto people on the beach. NCI informed Police by 999. Police attended but youths dispersed. No injuries. NCI No No

56610 30/03/2026 NCI Portland Bill HMCG called NCI re. report from MOP of a yacht in trouble. Monitoring requested. Casualty located - proceeding under power, CG informed. MCA/HMCG No Yes
56625 30/03/2026 NCI Folkestone NCI received a call re. a person climbing a cliff, and they did not respond to verbal calls. HMCG informed, CRT tasked. CRT met with person, explained the danger, but they had been told previously. NCI No Yes
56665 30/03/2026 NCI Torbay HMCG tasked AWLB, which was on training, to a reported windsurfer in difficulty. NCI established visual, and conned LB to casualty, as there were two windsurfers. LB reported casualty;ty to be fine,, and paddling back to shore. NFA. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
56605 30/03/2026 NCI Teignmouth Exmouth NCI called to report a motor vessel, 3 POB had engine problems, reported by HMCG. Vessel then contacted to say they had problems. CG advised. Pan Pan issued. Second vessel offered assistance, and recovered vessel and occupants. MCA/HMCG No Yes

56649 28/03/2026 NCI Exmouth HMCG called NCI requesting visual on a vessel apparently drifting. Nothing seen by Exmouth or Teignmouth NCI. CG then advised casualty was under way, NFA. MCA/HMCG No Yes
56601 28/03/2026 NCI Hengistbury Head HMCG called NCI re. vessel aground, visual requested. NCI confirmed visual, no indication it was aground - 4 POB all fishing. Monitoring requested. Vessel later got underway, CG updated, believed not , to have been aground. MCA/HMCG No Yes
56602 28/03/2026 NCI Whitstable HMCG contacted NCI re. report of yacht in difficulty. Visual established, 1 POB waving briefly. Monitoring maintained, then 2 POB visible, and vessel regained mobility until out of sight. MCA/HMCG No Yes

56604 27/03/2026 NCI Porthcawl HMCG tasked CRT to a medical evacuation. NCI informed CG they had visual of scene, monitoring requested. NCI conned CRT to scene. Casualty, a young person with knee injury, was stretchered, to a vehicle for onward transport to hospital. MCA/HMCG No Yes
56600 26/03/2026 NCI Fleetwood NCI observed a person with 4 dogs on sands, in danger of being cut off by tide. HMCG informed. CRT tasked, casualty started walking back, carrying two dogs in thigh deep water. Casualty reached , safety and was met by CRT. All safe. NCI No Yes
56573 23/03/2026 NCI Felixstowe MOP informed NCI a large tree trunk , 3-4 mars long, had wished up on the shore. HMCG informed, CRT to be tasked. CG phoned to confirm dimensions, NFA. NCI No Yes
56564 22/03/2026 NCI Canvey Island NCI observed 4 paddle boarders on a sandbank, on an incoming tide. HMCG had a report from a MOP of people cut ff by tide, CRT asked NCI for visual. NCI explained about the paddle boarders. , CRT searched elsewhere, but it was decided it was a FAGWI. MCA/HMCG No Yes
56552 20/03/2026 NCI Lyme Bay HMCG called NCI asking for a search for a dog fallen from a cliff. Dog spotted on beach, W/K located dog, which would not walk so it was wrapped in his coat and carried to the car park. Dog was , reunited with its owner, and checked by a Vet. CG updated. 56553 20/03/2026 NCI St Donat's Bay NCI observed a large cylindrical object washed up on beach. HMCG informed, who contacted Fire service and local council. Fire officer attended, and was conned to object by NCI. Object was declared a , hazard. Incident handed to council for removal, however by this time the object was under water again. NCI No Yes
56548 19/03/2026 NCI Needles Vessel issued a Pan Pan with engine failure, attempting to deploy anchor, but unable to make headway - only one competent sailor on board. NCI established visual, confirmed with HMCG. Weather update , provided. No immediate assistance needed. CG then updated by NCI - vessel making headway. Second yacht contacts casualty, and undertakes tow to safety of a buoy outside harbour. Crew safe and, spent night on boat. MCA/HMCG No Yes
56559 19/03/2026 NCI Cleethorpes HMCG called NCI re. report of a person walking into the sea, search requested. ILB tasked, CRT and beach safety patrol joined search. Police spoke to person who knew casualty, contacted them, and met, at the pier. Casualty was not in the water. Apparently casualty had suffered trauma recently. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
56538 18/03/2026 NCI Hengistbury Head HMCG reported a spoken MayDay had been heard from a light aircraft about to ditch. ILB tasked to search, and Pan Pan issued to all vessels. NCI asked by CG to keep a lookout. HELO also tasked. , No evidence of any plane crash was found, terminology used in message was suspect. NCI were sure they would have seen an aircraft ditch, thought to be a hoax call. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
56542 18/03/2026 NCI Nells Point NCI observed 2 MOP on island, causeway just covered. HMCG advised, monitoring requested. CG informed that the casualties had called NCI to say they were cut off by tide. ILB tasked and recovered, casualties to mainland. NCI Yes Yes
56519 16/03/2026 NCI Exmouth NCI overheard a radio message about a possible fall from a cliff. NCI informed HMCG they had CCTV coverage of the area and will monitor situation. ILB and CRT tasked, and arrived at scene. , Nothing was found, all assets stood down. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
56501 15/03/2026 NCI Brancaster NCI observed 14 MOP on sandbank, in danger of being cut off by tide. HMCG informed, monitoring requested. Casualties then realised the danger, and waded back to beach. All safe, CG updated. NCI No Yes
56503 15/03/2026 NCI Hengistbury Head HMCG called NCI re. report from MOP of a wing foiler in difficulty. Visual requested. The only wing foiler did not appear to be in difficulty. CG updated, monitoring requested. As the visibility , deteriorated, visual was lost, however given that they appeared competent and not in difficulty, no further action was taken. MCA/HMCG No Yes
56659 13/03/2026 NCI Padstow HMCG called NCI re. 999 call from MOP about a wing foiler in difficulty. NCI reported the wing foiler was under observation, and paddling strongly to shore, No action required. MCA/HMCG No Yes
