During 2020 all NCI stations closed for two months at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. On re-opening most stations were single-crewed for the rest of the year.


Please note: NCI Canvey Island was previously know as NCI Holehaven and moved location on Monday 18 October 2021. All NCI Canvey Island Incident Summaries before that date will be in respect of NCI Holehaven at its previous location.

54735 25/08/2025 NCI Brancaster MOP reported to NCI his daughter was on the beach, passed out and in severe back pain. HMCG informed, CRT tasked. Monitoring requested, CRT directed to casualty. Ambulance arrived but unable to , access beach, so casualty was brought to golf club and awaiting ambulance. Casualty taken to hospital. NCI No Yes
54741 25/08/2025 NCI Canvey Island HMCG called NCI re. report by MOP of a possible vessel on fire. NCI camera search identified a day angler, occupants fishing, CG updated, NFA. MCA/HMCG No Yes
54743 25/08/2025 NCI Cleethorpes MOP brought a distressed child to the lookout. Police called on 999, and during call, a person arrived claiming to be the mother. After due safeguarding, and caring for both, the Police arrived, and , after carrying out checks, the child was released into the mothers care. NCI No Yes
54718 24/08/2025 NCI Newhaven HMCG called NCI re. report from MOP of 2 persons in a small boat were flashing a light. NCI initiated search, observed a speedboat, 2 POB, no sign of distress. CG updated, monitoring requested. , Vessel entered harbour, no concern, CG updated. MCA/HMCG No Yes
54719 24/08/2025 NCI Swanage NCI observed 2 kayakers, one of which seemed to be in difficulty. HMCG informed, ILB tasked, and recovered casualty to the shore., and planned to recover kayak. NCI Yes Yes
54723 24/08/2025 NCI Felixstowe HMCG called NCI re. report from MOP of small vessel said to be in difficulty. NCI had visual, nothing seemed to be problematic, jetski stationary in same area. No action required. MCA/HMCG No Yes
54724 24/08/2025 NCI Porthcawl NCI observed several people apparently stranded at river mouth. HMCG informed, and advised ILB was on exercise in area. ILB and CRT were tasked, and recovered all casualties to correct side. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes

54739 24/08/2025 NCI Charlestown HMCG called NCI re. report from MOP of a swimmer in rip current, clinging to buoy. NCI searched area, identified swimmer and several buoys. ILB and HELO tasked, but casualty had self rescued. , Assets stood down. MCA/HMCG No Yes
54740 24/08/2025 NCI Hornsea HMCG called NCI asking for visual of person trapped under cliff. Due to deep shadow, visual was not established. ILB tasked, put crew ashore, and recovered casualty. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
54713 23/08/2025 NCI Felixstowe Yacht with engine failure issued a Pan Pan. HMCG requested assistance from any vessel. NCI informed CG of a nearby vessel on AIS. 54716 23/08/2025 NCI Newhaven Vessel issued Pan Pan having broken down in the harbour. HMCG answered, casualty a RIB, 3 POB. CG suggested calling port authority, NCI informed CG they had visual. Second vessel took , casualty under tow back to marina. pan pan cancelled. MCA/HMCG No Yes
54722 23/08/2025 NCI Mablethorpe Police informed NCI of 3 MISPERs from care home. HMCG informed, search requested. Update next day that casualties had been found and returned to home. All well. Police No Yes
54720 22/08/2025 NCI Froward Point Pan Pan issued by fishing vessel with crew member taken ill. Ambulance requested to meet vessel. Situation then upgraded to May Day as casualty was deteriorating, and vessel 8 miles out. NCI informed , HMCG they had visual, monitoring requested. Vessel arrived safely in harbour. MCA/HMCG No Yes
54670 22/08/2025 NCI Brancaster MOP reported to NCI a dead juvenile orca on the beach. NCI reputed matter to National Trust - no answer, so HMCG informed. NCI asked to conn CRT to carcase, but tide had covered it. Decision to, be made next day if still there. NCI No Yes
54672 22/08/2025 NCI Worms Head NCI observed 8 MOP cut off by tide as causeway closed. Siren sounded, HMCG informed, and casualties tried to cross causeway, despite warnings. ILB tasked, casualties returned to head, and were , recovered by ILB and CRT. NCI Yes Yes

54699 22/08/2025 NCI Charmouth Vessel called NCI reporting a cliff fall, HMCG informed, but already aware. ILB tasked to investigate - no-one appeared trapped, but rocks still falling. Advised that beach be closed. CRT could not , access. Incident closed, NFA. NCI Yes Yes
54702 22/08/2025 NCI Shoreham Police called NCI re. report of a dog attack close to lookout. NCI confirmed CCTV of incident, which had occurred before lookout had opened. Evidence to be retained until Police decided how to proceed Police No No
54703 22/08/2025 NCI Felixstowe NCI observed a yacht aground, HMCG informed. CRT tasked, CG asked NCI for details, but view only very distant. Fishing vessel attended scene, and casualty refloated as tide rose. NCI No Yes
54712 22/08/2025 NCI Padstow NCI observed 2 swimmers in a cove with no land exit. Significant swell. Both wearing wetsuits, but sea very rough. HMCG informed, monitoring requested. Both swimmers exited cove via rocks, safely, CG , updated. NCI No Yes
54669 21/08/2025 NCI Mundesley LGs observed a container on beach, unknown contents. Safe area set up around object. Environmental unit arrived, and removed object, which was a largely empty NaOH container. Disposal arranged in , a bin near beach. RNLI No Yes

54660 19/08/2025 NCI Lee-on-the-Solent HMCG called NCI re. report by MOP of 2 children on inflatable crocodiles 100m offshore. NCI observed 1 child still in vessel, other one swimming ashore having abandoned theirs. A paddle boarder , recovered drifting inflatable, W/K advised parent and children about tides and the need for lifejackets. All safe. MCA/HMCG No Yes
54661 19/08/2025 NCI Porthcawl LGs reported concern for a swimmer to HMCG. NCI tried to gain visual. ILB tasked, and any vessel asked to assist. CRT tasked also. NCI could not see any swimmer in distress, but did identify one , with a float. CG updated. LB ascertained the float was in fact a marker buoy and no swimmers found. NFA. RNLI Yes Yes
54634 18/08/2025 NCI Gosport Yacht reported a broken rudder, NCI reported to HMCG and VTS. Pan Pan issued. Police vessel attended, and towed casualty to its mooring. Pan Pan cancelled. NCI No Yes
54654 18/08/2025 NCI Padstow HMCG called NCI re. report from MOP of a paddle boarder in difficulty. Nothing seen. Radio traffic then suggested a paddle boarder was on the rocks, ILB went to investigate. LB asked NCI for visual - , still negative. LB then contacted paddle boarder, who confirmed he was the casualty. Casualty self recovered. NFA. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
54640 17/08/2025 NCI Porthcawl NCI observed a paddle board, 2 POB, 500mtrs from shore and waving. HMCG advised of concern, casualties being swept far offshore. ILB and CRT tasked, and LB recovered casualties, and returned then to , beach, to be met by CRT. NFA NCI Yes Yes
54642 17/08/2025 NCI Bass Point Pan Pan issued by yacht with a broken forestay, NCI called HMCG, asked for location, but nothing visible. Updated position was then given, NCI could see mainsail of vessel, with AWLB in attendance. , Casualty advised it was sailing on a jury rig, and was escorted by LB to port. NFA MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
54614 17/08/2025 NCI Newhaven NCI observed a kayaker who appeared to be struggling against tide and wind. HMCG informed, monitoring requested. NCI monitored casualty until they had no further concerns, NFA. NCI No Yes

54625 17/08/2025 NCI Hengistbury Head HMCG called NCI re. report from MOP of a paddle boarder possibly in trouble. NCI established visual, and told CG the casualty was paddling strongly. ILB and CRT tasked, casualty lost to view from NCI., No casualty found by LB or CRT. NFA. MCA/HMCG No Yes
54626 17/08/2025 NCI Boscastle HMCG tasked CRT to a wing foiler and a paddle boarder in difficulty. CG asked NCI for weather and sea state update. Pan Pan issued, ILB and AWLB tasked. 54631 17/08/2025 NCI Canvey Island NCI observed a person in water struggling to get back into their kayak. HMCG informed, monitoring requested. Casualty eventually passed out of view, CG updated. No further sightings. NFA NCI No Yes
54633 17/08/2025 NCI Shoreham ILB tasked to paddle boarder struggling, reported by MOP. NCI searched area, but nothing seen, CG updated. ILB called NCI and informed nothing seen. AWLB then tasked, NCI closed lookout as it , was dark. Casualty was eventually found at home. RNLI Yes Yes

54605 16/08/2025 NCI Charmouth CRT attended lookout re. 4 persons cut off by tide. HMNCG were advised 2 were wading to beach, monitored by NCI. All eventually reached safety of beach, advised on safety by CRT. MCA/HMCG No Yes
