During 2020 all NCI stations closed for two months at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. On re-opening most stations were single-crewed for the rest of the year.


Please note: NCI Canvey Island was previously know as NCI Holehaven and moved location on Monday 18 October 2021. All NCI Canvey Island Incident Summaries before that date will be in respect of NCI Holehaven at its previous location.

55907 31/12/2025 NCI Cromer MOP informed NCI a dog was stuck on the cliff. W/K went to investigate. HMCG informed, position given. NCI asked to monitor, owners present. Dog was recovered from cliff, safe and well. CG updated. NCI No Yes
55888 30/12/2025 NCI Lyme Bay HMCG called NCI re. call from MOP of a rock fall. CCTV confirmed the rock fall, and after reviewing the footage, NCI were able confirm no-one was in the immediate vicinity. NFA. MCA/HMCG No Yes
55866 29/12/2025 NCI Southend CI observed marine debris on mud flats, danger to kite surfers or jet skis. HMCG informed, CRT tasked, and guided to object by NCI. The debris, part of a tender, was recovered to beach and secured. NCI No Yes
55875 29/12/2025 NCI Boscastle HMCG called NCIre. report from MOP of concern for an inflatable kayak. Visual requested - NCI had already logged vessel - a dinghy, 1 POB, fishing and no distress, CG updated. Original informant was, updated. NCI confirmed vessel then headed back to harbour. 55882 29/12/2025 NCI Hengistbury Head HMCG called NCI re. report of 2 kayakers in difficulty, but location was 7 miles away. Visibility not great. Nothing seen, next watch also searched, but nothing seen - CG advised of several fishing , vessels in the area. CG informed NCI the kayakers had been seen, paddling normally, and all well. 55889 29/12/2025 NCI Skegness NCI informed HMCG of 2 containers of sulphuric acid washed up on the beach. NCI considered it to be an urgent public health hazard. CG tasked fire brigade, who confirmed they were safe after scrutiny., Containers were recovered for safekeeping by NCI until council collected them. NCI No Yes

55855 26/12/2025 NCI Southend NCI informed HMCG a cabin cruiser had been washed onto the beach. CRT tasked and confirmed position and details. Hull was intact. Vessel was secured by 3 lines, at the neap high tide mark. NFA NCI No Yes

55898 26/12/2025 NCI Ramsgate NCI observed a large container washed up on beach. HMCG informed, CRT tasked. Second CRT team tasked to help. NCI closed for the day, and were informed the Council had been informed. , A later update confirmed the object to be a large mass of toxic palm oil, used by shipping to clean tanks. NCI No Yes
55853 25/12/2025 NCI Exmouth NCI advised HMCG swimmers on the beach were waving at AWLB. May Day relay confirmed 5 swimmers were caught in a rip current. Out of reach of LB due to sea conditions. CRT and ambulance were, on the scene. 2 further AWLBs and HELO were tasked to join search. 2 casualties reached shore, 1 taken to ambulance, and 2 still were missing when the search was called off by CG. 55843 23/12/2025 NCI Southend HMCG asked NCI for visual on a lone kite surfer - confirmed as he had been under observation and showed signs of tiredness. CG updated, informed casualty has returned to shore. CRT attended and , offered safety advice. MCA/HMCG No Yes
55840 22/12/2025 NCI Chapel Point NCI observed 4 horse riders cantering along beach, when one was thrown from her horse. HMCG informed. Ambulance attended, and casualty was seen to walk off the beach unaided. NFA. NCI No Yes
55833 20/12/2025 NCI Newhaven NCI observed a large object washed up on beach. Appeared to be a full oil drum. HMCG informed, CRT tasked. NCI guided CRT to object, which turned out to be a large piece of wood, which was , by then back in the sea. It was decided to leave it until it washed up again. NCI No Yes
55835 20/12/2025 NCI Hengistbury Head NCI heard radio traffic relating to a MISPER. AWLB searching. NCI reported to HMCG a kite surfer was in difficulty, however this was not the casualty being searched for. CG asked NCI for details of , vessels in the area - negative. 55786 12/12/2025 NCI Gorleston A lone kayaker called NCI reporting his progress around a route already planned. NCI had been monitoring kayaker during trip. NCI noticed a fast craft pass close to kayaker, and then were unable to , contact him. HMCG informed, also unable to contact him. A local vessel was asked to keep a look out. No further sighting was made, until kayaker phoned to say he was safe and well on beach. , CG updated. NCI No Yes
55794 12/12/2025 NCI Porthcawl NCI overheard an unanswered call to a fishing vessel re. an injured crewman. NC plotted position and updated HMCG. Pan Pan was issued, HELO and AWLB were tasked. HELO recovered casualty and , transferred to hospital. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes

55746 07/12/2025 NCI Portland Bill NCI observed a surfer in difficult conditions, attempting to surf. HMCG informed, monitoring requested. CRT, AWLB, and HELO were tasked, NCI lost visual contact on CCTV. MOP informed CRT they saw a , surfer matching the description leaving the water. 55751 07/12/2025 NCI Teignmouth HMCG called NCI re. report from a MOP of a swimmer clinging to a buoy. Search requested but nothing seen. May Day relay issued. 55748 01/12/2025 NCI Ramsgate MOP informed NCI of their concern for the welfare of a person on the promenade. W/K (a qualified medic) spoke with the man, who then wandered off along the promenade. HMCG then phoned NCI, for weather for a HELO landing, as someone had fallen from the cliff. Other emergency services attended, outcome unknown by NCI. NCI No Yes

55722 30/11/2025 NCI Swanage MOP informed NCI he had fallen and banged his head, and was feeling shaken. W/Ks monitored casualty for 35 minutes, offered to call an ambulance, and his condition improved. NCI advised casualty to , contact doctor or 999 if he felt worse. NFA. NCI No No

55682 29/11/2025 NCI Shoreham HMCG called NCI re. report from MOP of a windsurfer in difficulty. NCI informed CG they had been monitoring several windsurfers. MOP then called to say casualty was safely ashore. MCA/HMCG No Yes
55670 27/11/2025 NCI Hengistbury Head HMCG called NCI re.concern for a small inflatable, 3 POB, drifting off the beach. NCI informed CG they had observed the vessel move away under power. NCI updated its position - possibly fishing. , ILB tasked to check occupants, and was conned to dinghy by NCI. LB reached dinghy, spoke with occupants, who decided to return to beach, as visibility was deteriorating. All safe. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
55671 26/11/2025 NCI Hengistbury Head NCI were informed of a missing person, Police aware. HMCG informed, but Police handling incident. CG then tasked CRT and ILB, and also CG HELO.
