During 2020 all NCI stations closed for two months at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. On re-opening most stations were single-crewed for the rest of the year.


Please note: NCI Canvey Island was previously know as NCI Holehaven and moved location on Monday 18 October 2021. All NCI Canvey Island Incident Summaries before that date will be in respect of NCI Holehaven at its previous location.

55197 05/10/2025 NCI Shoreham Yacht reported a broken rudder 1 Nm offshore. NCI informed HMCG they had visual, monitoring requested. AWLB tasked, and towed casualty to harbour. NCI Yes Yes
55200 05/10/2025 NCI Bass Point NCI observed a tanker heading west not showing AIS. HMCG informed. CG contacted vessel, who reported AIS to be defective and would be repaired. NFA. NCI No Yes
55214 05/10/2025 NCI Porthcawl ILB on exercise expressed concern for 3 MOP at point. NCI asked to check using cameras. 2 persons on shore observed, HMCG informed. ILB then recovered one child from the rocks. All safe. RNLI Yes Yes
55181 04/10/2025 NCI Lyme Bay NCI expressed concern for a kite surfer in rough seas. Visual lost as they came off board. HMCG informed, monitoring requested. CG were updated regularly, until after some time, the casualty was , seen to be upright and travelled out of sight. CG informed, NFA. NCI No Yes
55196 04/10/2025 NCI Portland Bill HMCG called NCI re. hydrofoiler, asking if NCI had seen them. Nothing had been seen, but area was scanned until lookout closed. MCA/HMCG No Yes
55172 02/10/2025 NCI Whitstable HMCG called NCI re. report from MOP of a fisherman possibly at risk with an incoming tide. NCI had been monitoring, and considered him to be in danger. CRT tasked. CRT were familiar with casualty,, and he was not in difficulty. NCI monitored until he returned to shore. MCA/HMCG No Yes
55159 02/10/2025 NCI Nare Point MayDay issued re. 2 persons in the water. HMCG asked NCI for visual - confirmed, position forwarded. HELO and AWLB tasked, and R.N. RIB from Patrol vessel attended. 55146 01/10/2025 NCI Shoreham MOP called HMCG with concern for a small boat in difficulty. HMCG asked NCI to identify, and were informed it had left the harbour, stopped to do some fishing, then got under way again. NFA. MCA/HMCG No Yes
55155 01/10/2025 NCI Shoreham NCI raised concerns with HMCG re. a swimmer 800mtrs offshore. monitoring requested. ILB on exercise was asked to check on swimmer, who was fine, and a diver checking sea kelp. NFA. NCI Yes Yes
55131 30/09/2025 NCI Bass Point Fishing vessel called NCI re. oil slick 1.4 miles from lookout. HMCG informed with details of position and informant. Incident remained ongoing, including nearby NCI station. NCI No Yes
55143 30/09/2025 NCI Shoreham HMCG called NCI re. aircraft distress beacon activated. Search of area requested. CG then reported it was a false alarm as aircraft was still in hangar. NFA MCA/HMCG No Yes
55103 28/09/2025 NCI Worms Head NCI observed 2 MOP on head, siren ignored. HMCG informed, causeway closed, and CG asked NCI to inform them when they reached causeway. Contact made with casualties, CG updated. CRT and ILB tasked, , and casualties recovered to mainland. NCI No Yes
55161 28/09/2025 NCI Torbay RIB issued Pan Pan due to engine failure. NCI informed HMCG they had visual, monitoring requested. Local vessel undertook tow to harbour, met by CRT. MCA/HMCG No Yes
55101 27/09/2025 NCI Mundesley NCI called HMCG re. swimmer 500mtrs offshore, concern raised due to tides. Monitoring requested. ILB and CRT tasked, Police also attended. CG tasked HELO to aid search. Visual was lost. CRT then , reported a lone swimmer emerging from water, who turned out to be casualty. Ambulance attended, casualty, having been in the water 1hr 40 mins appeared okay. NCI Yes Yes

55022 17/09/2025 NCI Lee-on-the-Solent NCI informed HMCG a yacht had lost its foresail and power close to lookout. Monitoring requested. Vessel the issued Pan Pan - prop tangled and drifting. ILB tasked, and then a second ILB offered to , attend. A yacht started an initial tow, which was taken over by LB, and was towed to harbour by LB. All well. Pan Pan cancelled. NCI No Yes
55029 17/09/2025 NCI Penzance HMCG called re.call from MOP of 2 paddle boarders in difficulty. Visibility poor so visual not established, but search agreed if it improved. Search revealed nothing, and CG then reported the, casualties had reached shore safely. MCA/HMCG No Yes
55035 17/09/2025 NCI Mablethorpe NCI informed HMCG a fishing vessel had nets around prop. Monitoring requested. CG informed tow rope from assisting vessels had broken 4 times. CG asked if Pan Pan was needed - affirmative. , ILB tasked to assist vessel. NCI No Yes
55016 16/09/2025 NCI Filey Elderly MOP had fallen on beach, MOP informed NCI, who informed HMCG but they were already aware. NCI asked to monitor. CRT tasked, and casualty transferred to hospital by ambulance with , a suspected broken arm. MCA/HMCG No Yes
