During 2020 all NCI stations closed for two months at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. On re-opening most stations were single-crewed for the rest of the year.


Please note: NCI Canvey Island was previously know as NCI Holehaven and moved location on Monday 18 October 2021. All NCI Canvey Island Incident Summaries before that date will be in respect of NCI Holehaven at its previous location.

54051 11/07/2025 NCI St Ives NCI observed a paddle boarder 6o be struggling. HMCG informed. casualty regained board and fell off again several times. casualty then rested and managed to return to beach. CG updated. NCI No Yes
54059 11/07/2025 NCI Shoreham HMCG called NCI re. report from MOP of a trawler in swim safety zone. NCI searched and saw nothing, CG informed. Vessel turned out to be a vessel laying marker buoys. MCA/HMCG No Yes
54134 11/07/2025 NCI Nells Point HMCG called NCI re. missing child. search requested. W/K went on mobile patrol, nothing found. CG then rang to say child had been found safe and well. MCA/HMCG No Yes
54056 10/07/2025 NCI Porthcawl NCI observed a kayak, 3 POB, in difficulty. HMCG informed, monitoring requested. One POB tried to swim alongside, no progress being made. CG updated, ILB and CRT tasked. LB recovered , casualties beach, all safe. NCI Yes Yes

54031 10/07/2025 NCI Porthcawl LGs called NCI re. paddle boarder possibly in trouble. Visual requested, but negative. LGs then reported they had seen casualty, NCI attempted to inform HMCG. CG then informed LGs they had tasked ILB, and asked NCI to monitor. ILB then recovered casualty to beach, all safe. Assets stood down. RNLI Yes Yes
54101 09/07/2025 NCI Folkestone NCI observed a floating object by harbour arm. HMCG informed. CRT attended lookout, object was identified as a party balloon. NFA. NCI No Yes
54022 09/07/2025 NCI Boscastle NCI observed 2 kayaks, one of which had capsized and crew in difficulty. No lifejackets were worn. HMCG informed. Casualties tried to paddle to harbour, one in water. CRT tasked. NCI informed CG one , paddled to shore. casualty kayak was seen to be holed and inverted. CRT requested ILB to recover kayak, however NCI suggested to CG it was not needed. 54005 08/07/2025 NCI Folkestone MOP called NCI re. suspicious container on beach, contained fluid that was bubbling. HMCG informed, CRT tasked. Local council took over responsibility, awaiting waste team. NCI No Yes
54006 08/07/2025 NCI Porthcawl HMCG called NCI re. report of vulnerable person, possible self harm, who may have entered water. NCI cameras revealed nothing, ILB x 2 tasked, CRT also on scene. Nothing seen by NCI, ILBs, CRT., Police later advised casualty had been found, and was in custody. Assets stood down. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes

53988 07/07/2025 NCI Portland Bill Yacht issued Mayday re. dismasting. NCI informed HMCG they had visual, and were monitoring. AWLB tasked, crew put aboard, and casualty was towed to marina. Mayday cancelled. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes

54002 07/07/2025 NCI Exmouth Driver of jetski, 3 POB, called NCI asking for assistance, broken down. Water taxi unable to help. LGs advised, but unable to locate casualties, HMCG advised. NCI monitored until a passing RIB, towed jetski to shore. All safe. NCI No Yes

53991 06/07/2025 NCI Southend NCI called HMCG expressing concern for a lone walker on mudflats with incoming tide. NCI monitored casualty, CRT tasked, and met casualty as he returned. NFA NCI No Yes
53967 05/07/2025 NCI Torbay Vessel contacted harbour master to advise they were tangled in scallop beds. Pan Pan suggested, NCI asked if they had visual - affirmative. No Pan Pan issued. NCI informed HMCG. NCI then observed , the casualty vessel to have freed itself. CG updated, NFA. NCI No Yes
53973 05/07/2025 NCI Swanage HMCG called NCI asking to monitor progress of yacht. Crew member unwell. Vessel located, CG updated. vessel then radioed CG to say they were entering harbour, NFA. MCA/HMCG No Yes
53954 04/07/2025 NCI Lee-on-the-Solent NCI observed a small angling vessel manoeuvring with paddles, being unable to start engine. Vessel was drifting towards danger. HMCG informed, W/K called to casualties and encouraged them to paddle , ashore, which they managed. CG updated, NFA. NCI No Yes
53956 04/07/2025 NCI Bembridge NCI observed a yacht aground, HMCG informed. CG informed NCI that RNLI were aware. ILB tasked, and placed an anchor offshore. Sails taken down. Crew happy to stay on board to refit at high tide. , NCI asked to monitor. NCI Yes Yes
53958 04/07/2025 NCI Prawle Point NCI observed a small inflatable, 1 POB, unable to start outboard, and having difficulty rowing. HMCG informed, W/K left station to monitor casualty. ILB tasked, and recovered casualty to harbour. NCI Yes Yes
53964 04/07/2025 NCI Folkestone Harbour Board called NCI re. person in an inflatable drifting offshore. NCI established visual, and casualty was by then in the water, away from his dinghy. HMCG informed of situation. Casualty swam , and reached the beach, unharmed. He declined further assistance. ILB had been tasked and commenced search for inflatable, which had drifted on the wind. 53951 03/07/2025 NCI Hengistbury Head MOP informed NCI of a missing paddle boarder, not returned on time. NCI started search, and identified likely sighting. HMCG advised, and asked NCI to monitor. Casualty then made it back to beach, CG updated. NCI No Yes
54032 02/07/2025 NCI Nare Point HMCG called ILB re. small motor vessel, 2POB, with engine problem. NCI located casualty , and informed CG of location. Casualty then restarted engine, and ILB escorted them safely to base. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
53930 02/07/2025 NCI Charlestown HMCG called NCI re. call from MOP of 2 paddle boarders waving arms. NCI located casualties, who were heading for the shore. ILB tasked. A jetski went to assist until LB arrived. LB took casualties, , and jetski towed boards back to beach. All safe. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
