During 2020 all NCI stations closed for two months at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. On re-opening most stations were single-crewed for the rest of the year.


Please note: NCI Canvey Island was previously know as NCI Holehaven and moved location on Monday 18 October 2021. All NCI Canvey Island Incident Summaries before that date will be in respect of NCI Holehaven at its previous location.

54201 21/07/2025 NCI Worms Head NCI observed 3 MOP on heat, no attempt to return to mainland. causeway about to close. HMCG informed, monitoring requested. Casualties were then cut off. Siren deployed. CRT tasked., ILB tasked and recovered casualties, NCI Yes Yes
54204 20/07/2025 NCI Porthcawl NCI observed abandoned fishing gear on rocks. HMCG informed, NCI haveng seen a fisherman asleep on same rocks. CRT tasked, and found a person sleeping in rock area, having been there all night. , Casualty was sleeping rough, and would be moving on soon. NFA. NCI No Yes
54217 20/07/2025 NCI Mablethorpe NCI heard a message from HMCG to CRT re. MOP on beach with a suspected broken leg. NCI commenced search, CRT attended lookout, then went to beach. Ambulance tasked, Police attended, , casualty recovered by ambulance. MCA/HMCG No Yes
54185 20/07/2025 NCI Torbay MOP reported to NCI a person was wrong side of safety fence. NCI dialled 999 to report, CRT member managed to grab casualty, who expressed suicidal thoughts. CG updated. Ambulance arrived, and transported casualty to hospital. NCI No Yes
54188 20/07/2025 NCI Charmouth NCI called HMCG re. concern that 3 or 4 MOP were in danger of being cut off by tide. CRT and ILB tasked. CRT reported 10 persons involved, but all were Okay and had rejoined coast path. NCI No Yes
54167 19/07/2025 NCI Newhaven Vessel left harbour much earlier and suffered engine failure. The casualty had informed HMCG, and intended to anchor for right tide, having solved engine problem. CG called NCI as they could not , contact vessel, asking for visual. NCI eventually established visual, 2 POB. CG asked NCI for update, and vessel later returned to harbour under their own power. 54176 19/07/2025 NCI Rhoscolyn HMCG called NCI requesting them to monitor radio comms from ILB, tasked to recover 2 MOP stranded on sandbank. LB using handheld. All messages were picked up by CG, casualties , recovered by LB. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
54177 19/07/2025 NCI Stone Point NCI advised HMCG 4 yachts had run aground at river entrance during race. Monitoring requested. One vessel refloated, then another ran aground. CG updated. All vessels then refloated, no damage, CG updated. NCI No Yes
54180 19/07/2025 NCI Felixstowe HMCG tasked Lifeboat to swimmer in difficulty. CG asked NCI for visual - negative, but NCI saw LB pass lookout. CG advised the casualty was now safe and out of water of own accord. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
54182 19/07/2025 NCI Porthcawl NCI observed a fisherman asleep on rocks near lookout. W/K approached casualty, whose words appeared slurred. NCI were concerned due to deteriorating weather, HMCG informed. NCI informed Police, but , unable to attend. CG asked NCI for update - no change, weather getting worse, NCI asked to continue monitoring. When it was dark, NCI closed lookout, informed CG, who liaised with Police. , Outcome unknown. NCI No Yes
54193 19/07/2025 NCI Penzance NCI were monitoring radio traffic between HMCG and a yacht with electrical problem. AWLB tasked, and NCI noticed LB was heading in wrong direction, CG informed. Correct location was passed , to LB via Ch 65. LB escorted yacht back to harbour, all safe. MCA/HMCG No Yes
54210 18/07/2025 NCI Nare Point Yacht called NCI on Ch65 with engine failure, currently under sail but may need assistance at river entrance. Advised to call HMCG on Ch16, but reluctant to do so. NCI advised CG of situation, who , would wait for call. Vessel issued Pan Pan, requesting tow. Second yacht offered tow, and third vessel then towed casualty to its mooring. Pan Pan cancelled. 54159 18/07/2025 NCI Canvey Island HMCG called NCI re. report from MOP of 2 adults and 1 child on mud flats. NCI initiated search, and were able to confirm casualties had returned to beach. MCA/HMCG No Yes
54164 18/07/2025 NCI Bass Point Pan pan issued by vessel with engine failure, 1 POB. HMCG asked NCI for visual - affirmative, location given. AWLB tasked, and towed casualty to safe harbour. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
54165 18/07/2025 NCI Folkestone NCI informed HMCG a motor cruiser had run out of fuel, position given. Second vessel offered tow to safe harbour. NCI No Yes
54147 17/07/2025 NCI Brancaster NCI observed a RIB, 3 POB, appear to lose power and start drifting towards a wreck. casualty was joined by second RIB, both then drifted towards island. HMCG informed. NCI unable to contact casualty. , Both RIBs then regained power and returned safely to harbour. NFA NCI No Yes
54154 17/07/2025 NCI Torbay MOP reported to NCI a man behaving strangely at edge of car park. W/K approached casualty, who appeared very agitated. After talking, casualty assured W/K no alcohol or drugs were involved. , W/K decided he was not in danger, NFA. NCI No No
54156 17/07/2025 NCI Porthcawl NCI expressed concern for 2 surfers, HMCG informed, monitoring requested but visual had been lost. CG requested any vessel to look out. ILB tasked, vessel also responded. NCI then updated CG , that 2 surfers were walking back across rocks, but third surfer had been taken around point. All self rescued. NCI Yes Yes
54157 17/07/2025 NCI Filey HMCG called NCI asking then to look out for a rowing boat, 1 POB, reported missing. Visibility poor. CG later reported casualty had safely returned home. MCA/HMCG No Yes
54211 17/07/2025 NCI Moelfre RNLI station rang NCI, concerned for 4 paddle boarders, NCI had casualties under observation, HMCG informed. ILB tasked, and escorted casualties to the beach, met by CRT. No buoyancy aids , were being worn. All safe. RNLI No Yes
54146 17/07/2025 NCI Cape Cornwall Fishing vessel informed HMCG they were taking on water into engine room. Power had been lost, assistance requiredNCI informed CG they had visual and gave a strep. 54137 16/07/2025 NCI Prawle Point Yacht reported to HMCG their prop was caught in a lobster pot line. CG requested NCI maintain visual. Pan Pan issued - any vessels able to assist. NCI suggested to CG the vessel drops its sail due to, wind increasing. ILB tasked, and attempted to free vessel. Casualty towed to harbour by ILB, all safe. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
54112 15/07/2025 NCI Felixstowe HMCG called NCI re concern by MOP for children on Lilos possibly drifting out to sea. CRT tasked, visual of casualties limited. but did not seem in difficulty. CRT gave safety advice. MCA/HMCG No Yes
54136 15/07/2025 NCI Penzance HMCG called NCI re report from MOP of 3 paddle boarders in difficulty. NCI located them and they seemed to be making headway. ILB tasked, and found them to be fine. ILB stood down, all casualties, reached shore safe and well. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
54088 14/07/2025 NCI Torbay NCI heard comms re. distressed paddle boarder. Visual established, HMCG updated with situation - casualty being towed by a RIB to beach. CG then informed by NCI casualty was safely on beach. MCA/HMCG No Yes
54089 14/07/2025 NCI Torbay NCI observed a dismasted racing sailing dinghy. HMCG informed. Crew managed to rig a new sail, and proceed to self rescue to harbour. NCI No Yes
54090 14/07/2025 NCI Fleetwood NCI informed HMCG 2 fishermen were in danger of being cut off by tide. CRT tasked, monitoring requested. CRT requested ILB, which recovered casualties from neck high water. No injuries. NCI Yes Yes
54108 14/07/2025 NCI Porthcawl HMCG called NCI re. concern for 2 jet skis being washed ashore, reported by MOP. NCI established visual of the 2 ashore, CG updated. Unsure if in trouble, monitoring requested. ILBs tasked, , and ascertained one jetski was broken down. ILB escorted one vessel to safety, Land Rover recovered other rider, and vessel left at high water mark for later recovery. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes

54087 13/07/2025 NCI Llandudno NCI observed a person in water, trying to board an inflatable dinghy. HMCG informed. Casualty lost contact with dinghy, and began swimming ashore. Casualty lost to view. ILB recovered dinghy, and , proceeded to recover casualty. NFA NCI Yes Yes
54091 13/07/2025 NCI Newhaven NCI called HMCG re. an inflatable drifting out to sea on a falling tide and offshore wind. One occupant was swimming, others grabbing at swimming buoys. NCI then updated CG, the casualties had reached, shore. ILB had been tasked, arrived, and was stood down. All safe. NCI Yes Yes
54082 13/07/2025 NCI Stone Point NCI heard Pasn Pan re. waterlogged dinghy, yacht unable to get close due to draft. NCI located casualty and informed HMCG. Asked to monitor. ILB tasked and towed dinghy to sailing club. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
54062 12/07/2025 NCI St Alban's Head MOP reported a bag into NCI, found on fence, which contained personal items. HMCG informed, CRT tasked to investigate. CRT liaised with NCI re.location, but found nothing. NCI No Yes
54063 12/07/2025 NCI Bass Point NCI observed 3 climbers on cliffs, one of whom was injured. HMCG informed, ambulance and CRT tasked. Unseen by W/Ks, the two carried casualty to their car and departed. NCI updated CG and cancelled , ambulance. CRT stood down. NCI No Yes
54064 12/07/2025 NCI Worms Head MOP reported to NCI her husband had collapsed 400 mars from lookout. HMCG informed, CRT tasked, and attended casualty, accompanied by W/K. Casualty, who was diabetic, was taken back to campsite. NCI No Yes
54069 12/07/2025 NCI Hengistbury Head HMCG tasked ILB to report of person in inflatable waving for help. NCI observed a kayak in reported location, and informed CG that paddling action could be mistaken for waving. CG requested NCI , keep monitoring, but stood ILB down. NFA MCA/HMCG No Yes
