During 2020 all NCI stations closed for two months at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. On re-opening most stations were single-crewed for the rest of the year.


Please note: NCI Canvey Island was previously know as NCI Holehaven and moved location on Monday 18 October 2021. All NCI Canvey Island Incident Summaries before that date will be in respect of NCI Holehaven at its previous location.

55394 25/10/2025 NCI Mablethorpe NCI called HMCG re. a surfer they had seen entering the water, and could no longer be seen. CCTV and visual search carried out, nothing seen, CG updated. CRT tasked, but nothing seen, assumed , to have come out of water. NFA. NCI No Yes
55395 25/10/2025 NCI Lee-on-the-Solent NCI observed a yacht with a torn spinnaker, listing, 1 POB. HMCG informed, monitoring requested. CG contacted vessel, ILB tasked. LB reached casualty, CG updated, Neighbouring NCI station also , had casualty under observation. ILB escorted yacht to safe water, NCI stood down. NCI Yes Yes
55387 24/10/2025 NCI Felixstowe NCI heard May Day from a yacht, 1 POB and one in water from a capsized dinghy. No response so NCI responded and called HMCG. Nearby Trinity House vessel responded, and ILB tasked. Local , pilot vessel also responded. T.H. workboat recovered casualty, conscious but cold, and transferred them to mother vessel. ILB recovered casualty from yacht. CRT met casualty and transferred them to , a waiting ambulance. NCI Yes Yes
55434 24/10/2025 NCI Padstow NCI observed a wing foiler in difficulty, unable to mount board. HMCG and harbour patrol informed. ILB tasked, updated position of casualty supplied. casualty then managed to reach the beach, assets , stood down, NFA. NCI Yes Yes
55361 21/10/2025 NCI Gwennap Head Yacht issued a May Day - taking on water. Vessel unsure of exact position. NATO warship offered assistance but casualty was too close to shore. CG asked NCI for visual - affirmative, and exact , position supplied. NCI asked to monitor, and be prepared to con LB to casualty. AWLB tasked, located casualty and towed it back to harbour and safety. NFA. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
55365 21/10/2025 NCI Swanage NCI observed a fisherman on a ledge, and were concerned about access back to beach. Person was monitored and HMCG informed, and photo sent. CG were given updates as casualty slowly , returned to the beach. No assets deployed. NCI No Yes
55350 20/10/2025 NCI Fleetwood NCI observed a floating object, HMCG informed. Local ferry asked to investigate, and advised object was a pallet and netting, which had been reported before. NFA. NCI No Yes
55356 20/10/2025 NCI Worms Head HMCG called NCI re. report from MOP of a surfer, possibly in difficulty. W/K walked to establish visual, and informed CG the surfer appeared in distress. ILB and CRT tasked, and casualty recovered by , LB, and returned to shore. No medical attention required. NCI Yes Yes
55371 19/10/2025 NCI Porthcawl HMCG called NCI re. call from MOP concerned about children playing by waters edge. NCI unable to visualise as in blind spot. Off duty W/K went to investigate, and advised there was no problem, CG , updated. NFA. MCA/HMCG No Yes
55336 18/10/2025 NCI Folkestone MOP( ex NCI W/K) called NCI re kite surfer in difficulty, and kept watch while casualty eventually returned to the beach. Meanwhile HMCG issued Pan Pan re same incident, and NCI informed CG of , conversation with informant. ILB had been tasked, but was stood down after CG were updated. NFA. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
55337 18/10/2025 NCI Hengistbury Head NCI observed a small motor vessel attempting to enter harbour, and ran aground, and was washed to shoreline and buffeted by waves. HMCG informed, and 4 POB were on sand, ILB and CRT were tasked, , CG requested monitoring. CRT attended, all POB were on beach, lookout closed and incident closed. All safe, and vessel still beached. 55349 18/10/2025 NCI Charlestown NCI observed a large object washed up on beach, possible mine. HMCG informed, CRT tasked. Object discovered to be a large buoy from local mussel farm, and was removed. NCI No Yes
55351 18/10/2025 NCI Exmouth NCI had been monitoring a wing surfer struggling but not in distress. HMCG called NCI following report from MOP of wing surfer in trouble. NCI updated CG that casualty was safely ashore. NFA. MCA/HMCG No Yes
55329 18/10/2025 NCI Needles May Day was issued from a capsized catamaran, 1 POB wearing a lifejacket. LB and HELO tasked, NCI asked for visual by HMCG - initially negative then casualty identified, CG updated. Monitoring, requested. rescue boat and UKBF cutter attended casualty, and cutter took casualty on board. Casualty taken ashore, and LB took upturned vessel under tow, but it subsequently broke up and was , abandoned. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
55331 18/10/2025 NCI Shoreham NCI observed a sailing vessel with a torn sail, entangled in a racing buoy. HMCG informed, monitoring requested. CG tried unsuccessfully to contact vessel, which then, despite damage, motored into , harbour. NCI No Yes
55339 17/10/2025 NCI Porthcawl MOP informed NCI a person had called by harbour steps, and an ambulance had been called. HMCG informed, W/K attended casualty who was diabetic and had been unconscious. CRT tasked, casualty, was stabilised by ambulance crew. All assets stood down. NCI No Yes
55323 17/10/2025 NCI Worms Head NCI observed 2 MOP likely to be cut off by tide, air horn sounded. HMCG informed. ILB and CRT tasked, and casualties were brought ashore to safety. All well. NCI Yes Yes
55328 17/10/2025 NCI Boscastle NCI observed an inappropriately dressed female, pulling a wheelie bag on the coast path. A NIC W/K later then linked this to a Facebook alert by Police, and informed them. Sadly the Police had not , alerted NCI to the MISPER. Casualty was still being sought the following day. NCI No No
55319 15/10/2025 NCI Gosport HMCG called NCI re. report from MOP of a dinghy, 3 POB, causing concern. NCI established visual, CG informed. CG asked NCI to monitor. There was no apparent problem, however the dinghy was heading, across the main Chanel with a large ferry approaching. NCI then informed CG the dinghy had beached, then headed towards harbour and safety. Only 2 out of 3 with buoyancy aids. MCA/HMCG No Yes
55295 14/10/2025 NCI Nells Point NCI observed 2 MOP on island, attempting to cross after causeway covered. HMCG informed. ILB and CRT tasked, casualties retreated to island. ILB recovered casualties to mainland, all well. NCI Yes Yes
55301 14/10/2025 NCI Nare Point HMCG called NCI re. report from MOP of a catamaran in river, possibly in difficulty. Visual requested. NCI identified vessel, which was progressing slowly against adverse conditions, but all in order. MCA/HMCG No Yes
55269 12/10/2025 NCI St Agnes Head NCI observed a small dinghy fishing in a restricted area (historic site), HMCG informed. Historic England also informed. CG attempted to call craft on Ch16 - no response. vessel then left area. NFA. NCI No Yes
55273 12/10/2025 NCI Charmouth 6 walkers were observed on beach, cut off by high tide.All appeared safe and should be able to recover in 1 hour. CG updated. CRT tasked and found casualties safe and well. Advice offered re. tides. MCA/HMCG No Yes
55277 12/10/2025 NCI Shoreham HMCG called NCI asking for visual on a yacht with broken down engine. Visual confirmed, and vessel making progress. vessel managed to restart engine. NFA. MCA/HMCG No Yes
55278 12/10/2025 NCI Calshot Tower NCI observed a wing surfer immobile in the water. HMCG informed. Local LB tasked, and was conned to casualty by NCI. Casualty informed LB they did not require assistance, CG updated. , NCI asked to monitor casualty until safely ashore. NCI Yes Yes
55267 11/10/2025 NCI Shoreham HMCG called NCI re. report on 999 of a lady going into the sea to rescue a dog. Visual requested - negative. NCI then updated CG, they had visual on lady and dog swimming to shore. Casualties , reached shore safely, ILB, which had been tasked, stood down. All safe. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
55280 11/10/2025 NCI Felixstowe NCI advised HMCg a paddle boarder appeared to be in trouble, monitoring requested. CG tried to contact passing vessels. NCI then updated CG - casualty appeared to be fishing. Casualty then , paddled back to shore. NFA. NCI No Yes
55281 11/10/2025 NCI Felixstowe MOP reported to NCI seeing a flare over port. Nothing visible by NCI. HMCG informed. Port authorities also saw nothing, however there was a festival occurring, - assumed from there. NFA. NCI No Yes
55241 10/10/2025 NCI Hengistbury Head HMCG called NCI re. report from MOP of vessel with no-one on board. 2 vessel seen, monitoring requested. NCI then updated CG that vessel had 1 POB who was fishing. No difficulty apparent. NFA. MCA/HMCG No Yes
55262 09/10/2025 NCI Nells Point NCI observed 2 MOP on island cut off by tide. ! attempted to cross, other waited. HMCG advised, monitoring requested. Both casualties eventually reached shore and safety. NFA. NCI No Yes

55230 09/10/2025 NCI Torbay MOP reported to NCI a walker on coast path had fallen and injured their leg. Second person had called for an ambulance, NCI informed HMCG. Ambulance attended casualty. NCI No Yes
55237 09/10/2025 NCI Felixstowe NCI heard comms re. vessel aground in river. HMCG contacted and it was suggested they ring harbour masters it was not visible. NCI then noted vessel was moving on AIS, CG updated, NFA. MCA/HMCG No Yes
55248 09/10/2025 NCI Prawle Point HMCG called NCI asking if they could see a fishing vessel and dinghy, with reportedly no persons on board. Nothing was seen by NCI, and on plotting position, informed CG a fishing vessel was nearby. , CG contacted vessel, and nothing was seen by anyone. NFA. MCA/HMCG No Yes
55216 08/10/2025 NCI Prawle Point Fishing vessel, 1 POB, called HMCG with engine failure. Pan Pan issued, NCI informed CG they had visual. Skipper wearing lifejacket. AWLB tasked, and took casualty under tow to harbour. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
55224 08/10/2025 NCI Hengistbury Head HMCG called NCI re. report from MOP of a RIB aground. NCI already had visual, 2 POB both wearing buoyancy aids, looking comfortable. Second boat nearby was in contact. Vessel was refloated 30 minutes , later and proceeded to harbour, CG updated. NFA. MCA/HMCG No Yes
55227 08/10/2025 NCI Fleetwood NCI observed a yacht, which appeared to be adrift, HMCG advised. CG asked a nearby cargo vessel to investigate, and NCI to monitor. CG asked NCI for weather and tide conditions. NCI then advised , vessel had run aground. CG contacted owner of vessel, and it was decided it could be reached at low tide. NFA. NCI No Yes
55217 07/10/2025 NCI Calshot Tower NCI observed a yacht aground and listing. HMCG informed, and requested monitoring. NCI updated CG that 2 crew had left the vessel and were inspecting hull in shallow water. CG informed NCI they , had contacted vessel and they were happy to await high tide to refloat vessel. NFA NCI No Yes
