During 2020 all NCI stations closed for two months at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. On re-opening most stations were single-crewed for the rest of the year.


Please note: NCI Canvey Island was previously know as NCI Holehaven and moved location on Monday 18 October 2021. All NCI Canvey Island Incident Summaries before that date will be in respect of NCI Holehaven at its previous location.

54666 20/08/2025 NCI Teignmouth NCI heard messages re. RIB with engine failure, dragging anchor. ILB had been tasked. NCI informed HMCG they had visual. ILB took casualty under tow to mooring. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
54655 19/08/2025 NCI Charmouth HMCG called NCI requesting visual on yacht with engine trouble. NCI uncertain of identity, but after Pan Pan issued, they were able to identify casualty. Casualty was towed to safety by harbour master MCA/HMCG No Yes
54660 19/08/2025 NCI Lee-on-the-Solent HMCG called NCI re. report by MOP of 2 children on inflatable crocodiles 100m offshore. NCI observed 1 child still in vessel, other one swimming ashore having abandoned theirs. A paddle boarder , recovered drifting inflatable, W/K advised parent and children about tides and the need for lifejackets. All safe. MCA/HMCG No Yes
54661 19/08/2025 NCI Porthcawl LGs reported concern for a swimmer to HMCG. NCI tried to gain visual. ILB tasked, and any vessel asked to assist. CRT tasked also. NCI could not see any swimmer in distress, but did identify one , with a float. CG updated. LB ascertained the float was in fact a marker buoy and no swimmers found. NFA. RNLI Yes Yes
54634 18/08/2025 NCI Gosport Yacht reported a broken rudder, NCI reported to HMCG and VTS. Pan Pan issued. Police vessel attended, and towed casualty to its mooring. Pan Pan cancelled. NCI No Yes
54654 18/08/2025 NCI Padstow HMCG called NCI re. report from MOP of a paddle boarder in difficulty. Nothing seen. Radio traffic then suggested a paddle boarder was on the rocks, ILB went to investigate. LB asked NCI for visual - , still negative. LB then contacted paddle boarder, who confirmed he was the casualty. Casualty self recovered. NFA. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
54614 17/08/2025 NCI Newhaven NCI observed a kayaker who appeared to be struggling against tide and wind. HMCG informed, monitoring requested. NCI monitored casualty until they had no further concerns, NFA. NCI No Yes
54623 17/08/2025 NCI Whitstable HMCG called NCI re. report from a MOP of a life raft adrift. Visual requested, but not in view. ILB tasked, to recover vessel. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
54625 17/08/2025 NCI Hengistbury Head HMCG called NCI re. report from MOP of a paddle boarder possibly in trouble. NCI established visual, and told CG the casualty was paddling strongly. ILB and CRT tasked, casualty lost to view from NCI., No casualty found by LB or CRT. NFA. MCA/HMCG No Yes
54626 17/08/2025 NCI Boscastle HMCG tasked CRT to a wing foiler and a paddle boarder in difficulty. CG asked NCI for weather and sea state update. Pan Pan issued, ILB and AWLB tasked. Casualties had reached shore, self recovered, , Paddle boarder had gone to assist wing foiler. CRT attended to assess condition of wing foiler. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
54631 17/08/2025 NCI Canvey Island NCI observed a person in water struggling to get back into their kayak. HMCG informed, monitoring requested. Casualty eventually passed out of view, CG updated. No further sightings. NFA NCI No Yes
54633 17/08/2025 NCI Shoreham ILB tasked to paddle boarder struggling, reported by MOP. NCI searched area, but nothing seen, CG updated. ILB called NCI and informed nothing seen. AWLB then tasked, NCI closed lookout as it , was dark. Casualty was eventually found at home. RNLI Yes Yes
54640 17/08/2025 NCI Porthcawl NCI observed a paddle board, 2 POB, 500mtrs from shore and waving. HMCG advised of concern, casualties being swept far offshore. ILB and CRT tasked, and LB recovered casualties, and returned then to , beach, to be met by CRT. NFA NCI Yes Yes
54642 17/08/2025 NCI Bass Point Pan Pan issued by yacht with a broken forestay, NCI called HMCG, asked for location, but nothing visible. Updated position was then given, NCI could see mainsail of vessel, with AWLB in attendance. , Casualty advised it was sailing on a jury rig, and was escorted by LB to port. NFA MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
54604 16/08/2025 NCI Worms Head HMCG called NCI re. paddle boarders in difficulty. W/K walked to get visual, and reported to CG they were in trouble. ILB tasked, and casualties were recovered by LB. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
54605 16/08/2025 NCI Charmouth CRT attended lookout re. 4 persons cut off by tide. HMNCG were advised 2 were wading to beach, monitored by NCI. All eventually reached safety of beach, advised on safety by CRT. MCA/HMCG No Yes
54606 16/08/2025 NCI Hengistbury Head ILB called NCI after comms re. 2 persons on a paddle board, no life saving kit, at risk of being blown off shore. NCI searched area but nothing visible, CG informed. ILB tasked, recovered casualties , from inside harbour. All safe. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
54607 16/08/2025 NCI Worms Head HMCG asked NCI to look for 3 paddle boarders. NCI established visual, also saw 3 MOP on inner head. CG updated. Walkers returned to mainland, paddler boarders were located by Sea Serpent vessel. , They were in kayaks and were fine, paddle boarders eventually found in pub. MCA/HMCG No Yes
54613 16/08/2025 NCI Calshot Tower MOP informed NCI there was a yacht adrift near lookout. HMCG informed, local LB tasked. NCI then advised the vessel was under command and under way, Assets stood down. NCI Yes Yes
54592 15/08/2025 NCI Exmouth HMCG called NCI re. report of a speedboat adrift in channel. Visual confirmed, and location provided. ILB tasked to recover vessel, 4 casualties rescued. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
54632 15/08/2025 NCI Nells Point NCI observed a paddle boarder and a canoe, 2 POB, caught in current, not making headway. HMCG informed, monitoring requested. Both craft eventually self rescued, CG updated, NFA. NCI No Yes
54593 15/08/2025 NCI Shoreham MOP informed NCI there was a person in the water, in distressed state. HMCG informed, CRT tasked and given position by NCI. Casualty then reported to be safe and well. Assets stood down. NCI No Yes
54610 15/08/2025 NCI Prawle Point Pan Pan issued by vessel caught in lobster pots and drifting. NCI established visual, HMCG informed. 2 nearby vessels called to offer assistance. Crew of casualty managed to clear prop, and carry, on slowly towards harbour. NFA. MCA/HMCG No Yes
54611 15/08/2025 NCI Prawle Point NCI observed a motor cruiser, 1 POB, with a fouled prop, crew attempting to clear. No lifejacket. HMCG informed, position provided. Skipper managed to clear prop, and continued on way. NCI , monitored progress. MCA/HMCG No Yes
54569 14/08/2025 NCI Cleethorpes NCI observed an inflatable dinghy, 1 POB, unable to row against ebbing tide. HMCG informed, monitoring requested. ILB was on standby, but tidal stream then pushed the casualty back to shore and self , rescued. NCI Yes Yes
54572 14/08/2025 NCI Folkestone NCI observed 3 people on 2 paddle boards in water and unable to get back on boards. HMCG informed. NCI then updated to say they were heading back to shore, but out of view. Harbour authority informed, who would attend. NCI updated CG that casualties were safe. NCI No Yes
54576 14/08/2025 NCI Charmouth DSC and Pan Pan alert issued re. Fishing Vessel no steering, or propulsion, and unable to anchor. NCI informed HMCG they has visual, monitoring requested. ILB tasked and arrived on scene. , LB assisted vessel to resolve problem, and vessel got back underway. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
54585 14/08/2025 NCI Mablethorpe RNLI LGs called NCI re. dinghy behaving erratically, currently rowing. NCI agreed to monitor. NCI observed a man overboard, LGs informed and HMCG advised. CG called for update, ILB tasked. CG advised, by NCI MOB was back on vessel and it was underway. LB attended and offered advice to occupants. NFA. RNLI Yes Yes
54589 14/08/2025 NCI Chapel Point NCI heard radio traffic between HMCG and ILB re. upturned paddle board, previously being used by 2 children. NCI located board, informed CG and conned LB to board. Both children were safe on , the beach. Parents unaware of situation. NCI Yes Yes
54596 14/08/2025 NCI Cape Cornwall MOP reported to NCI 4 kayakers were in difficulty, one capsized. Caller advised to call HMCG on 999, and NCI also informed HMCG. NCI asked to monitor area. May Day issued, AWLB tasked, , neighbouring NCI station also monitoring situation. LB recovered 6 casualties from 4 kayaks, all safe and well. NCI Yes Yes
54565 14/08/2025 NCI Gwennap Head NCI heard May Day relay re. 4 kayaks in difficulty, 1 person in water. NCI informed HMCG they had visual, and gave exact location, monitoring requested. 54552 13/08/2025 NCI Lee-on-the-Solent NCI observed a jetski carrying out dangerous manoeuvres at speed close to shore. CCTV evidence was recorded. HMCG informed, VTS informed, but no assets available. Rider repeatedly returned to shore, to collect other passengers and repeat manoeuvres until it left area. NCI No Yes
54559 13/08/2025 NCI Canvey Island HMCG called NCI re. report from MOP of two persons cut off by tide. Extensive search revealed nothing, and CRT confirmed casualties had returned to the beach safely. NFA MCA/HMCG No Yes
54560 13/08/2025 NCI Chapel Point NCI observed a paddle boarder heading out towards wind farm. They were 4 miles out and then lost to view, HMCG informed. Casualties wife attended NCI and assured them he was very experienced, and , was an ex LG, and had a phone. ILB tasked, but casualty contacted wife to assure he was fine. CG updated, ILB stood down, and casualty returned to beach safely. NCI Yes Yes
54563 13/08/2025 NCI Shoreham NCI called HMCG with concern for a speedboat seen drifting. Crew of vessel called NCI, and were advised to rind HMCG on 999. CG advised of this by NCI. CG asked all stations for assistance., CG updated - casualty now in the water, 25 metres from vessel. ILB tasked, but vessel had by then reached the beach. ILB and CRT refloated vessel and it was towed to harbour. All safe. NCI Yes Yes
54547 12/08/2025 NCI Canvey Island NCI observed a person from a rowing boat with motor was no longer on board, and swimming under the boat. HMCG cadvised of concern. casualty then did climb back into boat. possible engine problem., A small sail was unfurled. CG updated. ILB and CRT tasked, and ILB met vessel. casualty denied he had been in the water, and that he had a motor, although CCTV showed otherwise. Incident closed. NCI Yes Yes
54549 12/08/2025 NCI Portscatho HMCG called NCI requesting search for a kayak, 2 POB, reported late back by MOP. Vessel identified by NCI, not in difficulty, and was monitored until it returned to beach. CG updated. MCA/HMCG No Yes
54553 12/08/2025 NCI Porthcawl HMCG called NCI re. report from MOP of a vessel drifting towards rocks, no-one on board. Search requested, however CCTV did not cover location. LGs asked if they could see vessel. W/K walked to get , a better view, LGs established visual - no obvious problem. Vessel then came into view on CCTV and did not look to be in trouble. NCI updated CG, vessel was local to marina. MCA/HMCG No Yes
