During 2020 all NCI stations closed for two months at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. On re-opening most stations were single-crewed for the rest of the year.


Please note: NCI Canvey Island was previously know as NCI Holehaven and moved location on Monday 18 October 2021. All NCI Canvey Island Incident Summaries before that date will be in respect of NCI Holehaven at its previous location.

54792 28/08/2025 NCI Boscastle NCI observed 2 youths climbing rocks and entering water near harbour. Concern due to swell and tidal surged. MOP called NCI with similar concerns. HMCG informed, and during call, they moved to a , safer position. CG requested monitoring. Youths then left harbour - NFA. CG updated. NCI No Yes
54785 28/08/2025 NCI Mundesley HMCG called NCI asking for visual on a reported orange object on the horizon. Visual established, location advised to CG. CG asked a vessel to investigate, NCI conned it onto object, which turned out , to be a kayak. ILB tasked, recovered casualty, who was cold but otherwise fine, to beach, MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
54786 28/08/2025 NCI Worms Head MOP called NCI re. child having a panic attack on the causeway. HMCG informed, CRT tasked, and escorted MsOP back across causeway, All safe. NCI No Yes
54764 27/08/2025 NCI Exmouth HMCG called NCI re. report of RIB capsized, no visible POB. NCI confirmed to CG that harbour master was on the scene, and RIB grounded in the surf. NFA. MCA/HMCG No Yes
54766 27/08/2025 NCI Bass Point NCI observed a commercial vessel sailing without showing AIS. HMCG informed. CG contacted vessel, who confirmed there was an AIS fault, to be fixed at next port of call. NCI No Yes
54774 27/08/2025 NCI Boscastle CRT were tasked to investigate discarded clothing near cliff edge. NCI were aware, and were able to advise no persons had been seen. Nothing found, clothing removed, assets stood down. MCA/HMCG No Yes
54745 26/08/2025 NCI Brancaster MOP reported to NCI a missing child on the beach. HMCG and Police informed, search initiated. Child was spotted by NCI and W/K went to inform parent. Parent and child were reunited, NFA NCI No Yes
54794 26/08/2025 NCI Bembridge HMCG called NCI re. report from MOP of a wind surfer in trouble. NCI established visual, casualty lying on board and paddling, seperate from mast and sail. HMCG informed as casualty was tiring. ILB , tasked, and met casualty, who was almost ashore. LB recovered mast and sail. All well. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
54748 26/08/2025 NCI Southend Cockle vessel reported to HMCG a kite surfer was caught in boom. NCI informed CG they had visual, monitoring requested. Vessel threw a lifebuoy, recovered casualty who was transferred to ILB. Board , was recovered. Casualty taken ashore, all safe. Kite to be recovered at low tide. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
54749 26/08/2025 NCI Southend NCI observed a kayak, 2 POB caught in Boom. HMCG informed, ILB and CRT were in area from previous incident with kite surfer. MOP tried to wade out to assist, but advised against as LB was in area. , Kayakers waded ashore, were met by Cut and offered advice. NCI No Yes
54759 26/08/2025 NCI Hengistbury Head HMCG called NCI re. report of a surf board adrift. NCI searched, but could not see a person in the water. HELO, LGs, and ILB tasked, and after search no person was seen. It was assumed they had , returned to the beach. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
54760 26/08/2025 NCI Prawle Point Yacht skipper informed NCI they had an engine failure, but intended to continue passage. HMCG informed, and advised of location and course. Yacht then advised the problem was solved, CG updated. NCI No Yes
54765 26/08/2025 NCI Porthcawl NCI offered assistance to HMCG in search for missing child. CRT and Police involved. camera scan initiated, and then it was reported child had been found safe and well. NFA. MCA/HMCG No Yes
54776 26/08/2025 NCI Whitstable NCI observed a capsized catamaran, crew trying to right vessel in poor water condition. HMCG informed, sailing club vessel attended, first vessel righted, then second catamaran capsized, then righted., ILB tasked and attended. Both casualty vessel returned to shore. NCI Yes Yes
54741 25/08/2025 NCI Canvey Island HMCG called NCI re. report by MOP of a possible vessel on fire. NCI camera search identified a day angler, occupants fishing, CG updated, NFA. MCA/HMCG No Yes
54743 25/08/2025 NCI Cleethorpes MOP brought a distressed child to the lookout. Police called on 999, and during call, a person arrived claiming to be the mother. After due safeguarding, and caring for both, the Police arrived, and , after carrying out checks, the child was released into the mothers care. NCI No Yes
54747 25/08/2025 NCI Shoreham HMCG called NCI re. report from MOP of a person jumping off a structure. Search with CCTV revealed 2 kayakers only, no cause for concern. Monitoring requested, kayakers returned to shore, NFA. MCA/HMCG No Yes

Search requested, 2 persons identified as cut off. 2 ILBs and CRT tasked, NCI observed 1 person attempting to climb cliff. Report then , received of possible 2 further persons in the water, but nothing seen. 54735 25/08/2025 NCI Brancaster MOP reported to NCI his daughter was on the beach, passed out and in severe back pain. HMCG informed, CRT tasked. Monitoring requested, CRT directed to casualty. 54739 24/08/2025 NCI Charlestown HMCG called NCI re. report from MOP of a swimmer in rip current, clinging to buoy. NCI searched area, identified swimmer and several buoys. ILB and HELO tasked, but casualty had self rescued. , Assets stood down. MCA/HMCG No Yes

54713 23/08/2025 NCI Felixstowe Yacht with engine failure issued a Pan Pan. HMCG requested assistance from any vessel. NCI informed CG of a nearby vessel on AIS. 54722 23/08/2025 NCI Mablethorpe Police informed NCI of 3 MISPERs from care home. HMCG informed, search requested. Update next day that casualties had been found and returned to home. All well. Police No Yes

54712 22/08/2025 NCI Padstow NCI observed 2 swimmers in a cove with no land exit. Significant swell. Both wearing wetsuits, but sea very rough. HMCG informed, monitoring requested. Both swimmers exited cove via rocks, safely, CG , updated. NCI No Yes
54720 22/08/2025 NCI Froward Point Pan Pan issued by fishing vessel with crew member taken ill. Ambulance requested to meet vessel. Situation then upgraded to May Day as casualty was deteriorating, and vessel 8 miles out. NCI informed , HMCG they had visual, monitoring requested. Vessel arrived safely in harbour. MCA/HMCG No Yes
