During 2020 all NCI stations closed for two months at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. On re-opening most stations were single-crewed for the rest of the year.


Please note: NCI Canvey Island was previously know as NCI Holehaven and moved location on Monday 18 October 2021. All NCI Canvey Island Incident Summaries before that date will be in respect of NCI Holehaven at its previous location.

54968 10/09/2025 NCI Porthcawl NCI observed a life ring floating among debris. HMCG informed.NCI then updated CG that the object had reached shore, and a MOP had brought it to the lookout. CRT collected , life ring, no person seen during search of area, NFA. NCI No Yes
54976 10/09/2025 NCI Porthcawl NCI were monitoring 2 surfers in difficult conditions. One returned to shore, but HMCG called to say a MOP had reported one was in distress. Search requested. 54939 08/09/2025 NCI Portland Bill NCI observed a yacht in tidal race, uncomfortable but not in distress. HMCG then called NCI as it had been reported to be in trouble by a MOP. Update given, vessel extricated itself from race and , returned to safety of port. MCA/HMCG No Yes
54930 07/09/2025 NCI Boscastle NCI observed a MOP on cliffs, appeared unsteady, and having an agitated phone conversation. Casualty then removed clothing from backpack and continued phone conversation. CRT tasked., CRT arrived, advised NCI the casualty was well known to them, and was behaving typically. 54907 06/09/2025 NCI Torbay HMCG asked NCI to search for a fishing vessel, close to rocks, also a jetski in same area apparently out of fuel. After extensive search, nothing seen, search cancelled, no trace of either vessel. MCA/HMCG No Yes
54908 06/09/2025 NCI Torbay HMCG called NCI re kite surfer , who was reported to keep falling off. Nothing seen but search continued. CRT also asked NCI for visual - negative. MCA/HMCG No Yes
54909 06/09/2025 NCI Worms Head NCI observed several MOPs approaching causeway, which had closed. HMCG advised, casualties attempted to cross, siren and loudhailer deployed. ILB tasked, 5 casualties managed to wade across. , 1 recovered by LB. NCI Yes Yes

54896 06/09/2025 NCI Needles NCI observed 6 kayaks, unable to progress, HMCG informed. Monitoring requested. Kayaks then changed course to calmer water, and although off course, were much safer. NCI updated CG, and the , Station was then closed down for the evening. NFA. NCI No Yes

54910 05/09/2025 NCI Porthcawl NCI overheard a call from speedboat to marina reporting they were out of fuel. No response, but HMCG issued a call on Ch 16 for any vessel to assist. 54878 03/09/2025 NCI Worms Head NCI observed a MOP on head, causeway closing. HMCG advised, monitoring requested. Siren was deployed. Casualty then waded back, up to their knees, and arrived back to dry land. CG updated. NCI No Yes
54857 02/09/2025 NCI Hengistbury Head HMCG called NCI re. report from MOP of a RIB towing a Ringo (2 POB), and a Banana boat (3 POB) causing concern. Visual requested, - confirmed, and NCI agreed with concern. RIB turned and all 5 , persons ended up in the water. ILB tasked. NCI advised CG the Ringo and 3 casualties had made it to the shore, ILB accompanied RIB and 4 casualties to slipway. Safety advice was offered by LB crew. MCA/HMCG Yes Yes
54850 01/09/2025 NCI Shoreham Sailing vessel called HMCG with engine failure at entrance to harbour, so turned back out to sea. CG rang NCI asking for visual - confirmed. 54810 31/08/2025 NCI Needles Yacht was observed, static, apparently adjusting anchor. HMCG called a passing yacht sailing past, as MOP had raised alarm, but no response. 54825 31/08/2025 NCI Southend HMCG called NCI re. kite surfer in difficulty. Confusion over location. NCI could see kite surfers at a distance. Casualty was being helped ashore by second kite surfer. 54830 30/08/2025 NCI Cleethorpes NCI observed a lone child walking/runneing on beach a long way from any adults. He then disappeared from view, HMCG informed, and they contacted beach safety, who initiated a search. An adult then , appeared with the child, who seemed comfortable in their company. CG updated.
